Templeton: do I ever get thanked? And then Charlotte with her last words thanks him and says goodbye to Wilbur. A beautiful meaning there. The feeling of a sincere and deserved thanks and a final goodbye.
I think that Wilbur being voiced by kid here makes way more sense than him being voiced by an adult in the original. All in all though, I still prefer the original.
I can’t help but compare this remake to the original. I think both of them are great in their own ways, and there are moments where one movie is better than the other. The way they portray Charlotte’s death in this film is definitely better, between, Templeton proving there’s more to him then a selfish glutton, the final goodbye between Wilbur in Charlotte and the fact that we saw all the animals mourn Charlotte and not just Wilbur in this version.
I personally think her death in the OG film is a bit better though. Not only do they actually SHOW her die, but Wilbur genuinely looks and sounds absolutely devastated that she died. It's just full of more emotion imo
I took my 4 year old son to see this movie when it came out with some family. He sat on my lap. At some point during this scene, he just cried out, "I can't watch anymore, it's too sad!" Then he started balling and turned around and sobbed on my shoulder.....the entire audience in the theater cried Awwwwww. I will never forget that .

Although many of us have an ever looming fear of spiders, Charlotte was different. She had provided some of the most beautiful messages in her webs to describe our little pig, Wilbur. Charlotte was a great friend, and she will forever be missed, but she will live on in our hearts. 😢😢😢😢😢 Goodbye Charlotte. And thank you, for everything.
This movie will hold a special place in my heart. This scene really went harder than it needed to make feel emotional. You will always live in our hearts, Charlotte. You were an Ordinary miracle.
I recently read the book to my special needs daughter. I haven't seen the book since second grade when my teacher read it to the class one chapter per day 55 years ago. Despite knowing what was coming, I couldn't help but get all choked up reading Charlotte's death scene. A magnificent children's story.
It is very sad for me to say that Charlotte the Spider, who wrote her words in her web describing Wilbur the Pig, has died. We will miss her, very much.
Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
Kudos to Julia Roberts and Dominic Scott-Kay for their performances. It really does feel like a dying grandma or mom telling their son/grandson about one of the harsh realities of life: that no matter what, we will all eventually come to meet our maker. It must have been hard for them to record their lines. Charlotte sounds like she’s exhausted, sad, and proud all at the same time. It’s kind of how I expected Charlotte to sound when I read the book as a little kid. And little known fact, when the guy who did the audiobook for this read this scene, they had to stop recording several times (16 in fact) and restart because he couldn’t stop breaking down crying when it came to that part. I think for many of us, Charlotte’s Web was probably one of the first books we read as kids that made us first confront the idea of our mortality in a gentle, but still sad, way. Even from the first line, where Fern asks her mom point blank where her dad’s going with the ax, death fills the pages of the book. It’s something that as children, we don’t quite grasp the enormity of the idea, the idea that someone can be gone-and never come back. Our still immature developing minds grappled with the philosophical context of it. All living things come to an end, including us, whether we like it or not.
Charlotte is one of my favorite characters in all of children’s entertainment. She really teaches so many important lessons. She’s such a wonderful character.
I haven't seen this movie yet. I couldn't help but cry when Wilbur and Charlotte said goodbye. Made me think of the night my grandfather died in June 2019... RIP Papa Jimmy.
God made spiders for special purposes, and one of those is inspiring us all. Spiders like Charlotte helped change my views on arachnids, including other spiders❤
This is a very emotional scene for all of us. When i first watched this movie, i tried to hold back crying, but as soon i heard Wilbur say he loved charlotte, i burst into tears and cried for an hour. That was the most emotional moment in the entire film. Charlotte was like a mother figure to Wilbur, and she watched over him as if he was her own child. her passing broke Wilburs heart. Even Templeton showed pitty towards her. This also hit the farm animals hard because they didn't get to say goodbye to her. All of them bowing and sharing a moment of silence in honor of charlotte showed that they cared about her too. Very emotional.
This movie is the cause of my love and admiration for spiders. I started searching for every information about spiders after this movie, and these creatures are much more than we see.
I remembered watching this as a little girl with my family. The ending was so sad, especially with sarah McLachlans' song ordianry miracle. It almost made me cry.
“Nobody, of the hundreds of people that had visited the Fair, knew that a grey spider had played the most important part of all. No one was with her when she died.”
I just love how graceful and polite charlotte is she is amazing but all I have to say is 🥹🥹goodbye charlotte you were an amazing spider god bless you and your children
cried when I was 10 in the theatre, came back at 28 and am crying even harder than before. Will always remind me of my grandfather when he became terminally ill with cancer.
Charlotte was sorry to say “I’m afraid they’re not going to make it back to the barn.” She was dying & didn’t have the strength to climb down. Charlotte told Wilbur that in making her his friend, he made a spider beautiful to everyone in the barn. She called Wilbur the real miracle. Charlotte with her last words, thanked Templeton for everything, & he bowed in acknowledgment. She said goodbye to Wilbur. He said goodbye & added he loved her. Everyone was happy to see Wilbur back home, but noticed Charlotte wasn’t with him. They knew what happened when they saw the egg sac. She had died. They all bowed their heads in mourning.
That little nod Templeton gives to Charlotte right after she thanks him for everything he’s done for her and Wilbur always gets to me, it says so much without saying anything at all.
It was great how all the other animals were supporting Wilbur and honoring Charlotte's death with him they really did care about him a lot and they were all being there for him
This movie has always made me cry. It’s really special it’s from the first movies I got in dvd my dad got me. Then Mr dad been gone for 2 years that been a nightmare 💔
Finding out about this scene was the reason I didn't wanna watch this movie back when I was 10, but my mom forced me to with the purpose of spoiling one of my sisters because they wanted me to. But the other parts of the movie were entertaining, I think because the movie was live-action
I only know this one and the Hanna Barbara version, so I have yet to read the actual book, and am not sure if it happens there, but I appreciate this one for showing EVERYONE'S reaction to Charlotte's death, and not just Wilbur's. And Templeton gets more of an arc here.
In my opinion, this film actually made Charolette's death sader and more impactful than the original animated version and 6:30-6:55 really sticks out to me. All the animals (except for Wilbur of course) were, let's be honest, complete JERKS to Charolette for most of the film. But it's at this moment, when they realize she is permanently gone, that they realize what they have lost. No one says a word. They all just look to her empty web, bow their heads, and silently mourn for her. Such a great scene!

This movie did this seem better than the original but the original so heartbreaking because Charlotte died in front of Wilbur in the animated but in this one, she was holding on until he was gone so he didn’t have to see her pass away
