James Cagney was a great actor and truly fine man. And isn't it beautiful to see, albeit some years ago now, Hollywood honoring one of their own, this very special man, and celebrating his talent without the political dribble and bad language that is regularly a part of this generations Hollywood nights. ☘⚘☘🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
James Cagney is one of my all time favorite actors. A long time ago, I was seated at table next to Charlton Heston in a restaurant. I must have stared a lot because when Mr. Heston stood up from his table, he walked over and put his hand on my shoulder and said "Never be afraid to say hello" and he walked away. I never forgot his kindness.
@@garykass114 It was a typical family type restaurant in LA serving Sunday Brunch. I think we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, I was shocked to see him sitting at the next table. I don't remember bodyguards or anything like that. He acted just like a normal guy eating brunch with friends.
all i can say is,these actors and actresses were the best, they will never be forgotten, hollywood must have been a great place to be at that time,i grew up watching these people and we owe them a great deal, they made us happy, going home after a film and thinking about it was absolutely wonderful.
Thanks a lot, I'm a great movie buff and its so great to see these programs. I've been lucky enough to be an extra in quite a few movies when I lived in Georgia. Too see James Cagney is a thrill, thanks AFI.
That is good on their part, for Hollywood is the movie capital of the WORLD. It is good that Hollywood's senior actors pass on not just their art, but also the culture and RESPONSIBILTY that goes with being household icons the world over. The movie industries and personalities of the 3rd world have a lot to learn from them.
@84heroes1 Funny you should say that Clooney is in the same league as De Niro, Pacino, and Hoffman, because the former and the latter three are in a whole different league completely. There are the "classics" (Bogart, Cagney, Cooper, Wayne, Heston), the modern-day "movie stars" (Clooney, Pitt, Cruise, Depp), and then there's the ones in between (Nicholson, Hoffman, De Niro, Pacino, Hackman, Duvall).
I would love to contribute to the AFI, but when I saw how expensive their 'contribution' rates were, I had to swallow my pride and put my chequebook back in the drawer. No joke: I would have nothing left for my retirement if I contributed.
@@philiphalpenny9761 As a NRA member, I can say with certainty that Mr. Heston did a fantastic job and didn't miss out on his opportunities to maintain our Second Amendment Rights!
Yeah. All the movies are available.....for a price. The movie companies, the Internet and RU-vid and other economic predators use these classic movies, many as old as I am, for their own personal extortion racket.
