They could have still brought back Holly, rose, and allyssa lol they aren't even that old and still great actors. They made the reboot too childlike and the age gaps between the woman were like far apart. One was a mixed race woman, another was Latina, and the mom was Latina but the oldest one looked nothing like the mom 🤣 smh
The OG writer was right. The new show acted like it was an OG show even though it took many ideas from well.. the OG. Calling it a feminist show and acting like the OG wasnt empowering women as well was a huge diss too. It’s like they never saw the OG, and instead read a Wikipedia article a few times and were like- I have an idea for a show about three sister witches. Sucks cuz the new show wasn’t horrible. Had they taken the time to consult the OG, I’d bet it would have had a longer run.
One of the problems of a lot of modern shows are that they are so noisy about being “woke” and usually ends up struggling to walk that talk. The main difference with shows like Charmed, Buffy, the 90’s X-Men cartoon is that they did not really advertise that the show is this and that. They just prove it through consistent writing and let the audience read between the lines. It’s so cringy that a lot of shows nowadays have to announce they’re woke and they usually end up overcompensating that everything feels inorganic and forced. As they said, the emptiest cans make the loudest noise.

I love the OG charmed ones I versus the charmed reboot I have nothing against the tram reboot the actresses they knew how to play their roles but the reboot had a lot of default bad writing and weird story line is too bad they will not be a season five because I have it’s weird storyline there wasn’t any close bond relationship into women hood and sisterhood and it had no chemistry in the charmed rebootHad no bond it did in some way but not in every single way it’s really too bad the storyline had no attachment
Actually, the reboot was amazing and much better than the so-called "OG", which is not OG at all, but simply the ancient version. Truth be told, the reboot was superior to the ancient version on all levels. .
I stand with the OG’s. I’m so tired of recycled shows. People really need to be more creative and start their own shows instead of rebooting and borrowing from old beloved shows. It’s boring and unoriginal.

I think it would be super cool to see a charmed reboot but in the past of the OG charmed, like where witch hunts are still happening, like way way back in the past, where we could meet Melinda Warren again so we can see everything that started the charmed ones.

Actually, the reboot originally started as a prequel to the original show. It was supposed to be set in the 60s or 70s I believe. But then they decided to instead repurpose that script and turn it into an reboot not related to the original show at all (well, until the finale that is).

While the idea would be thought to mean within their family it's not that far fetched they botched the focus ,when they scrapped the script for the prequel as you stated.
I watched like 1 or 2 eps. I couldn’t get through it. I saw it had nothing to do with what I loved about the OG show. And they had obvious and major cast changes from first to last seasons and it was still that successful! A show about women in that time was also diverse thing that also made it great! Timeless. Reign on forever.
No one can ever replace the "original" Charmed series!! I must of re watched all the seasons hundreds of times!! I even get my hair cut short like Phoebe use to wear before she let it grow out. I have all the original paperback books which mean alit to me and I will not get rid of. I tried watching the reboot and just couldn't get into it, it's just not the same to me. Sorry..
I've never laughed so hard at tweets like this. I'm a huge OG Charmed fan always have always will be. I can't say the same for the reboot as many people have said the name it's the only thing they took from the show that and the fact that there are three witches that's it. I watched most of the reboot until the end and I doubt that they love both versions because if they did they would have involved the original series.
They thew shade at the original but idt ppl set out to make cult classics that ppl will remember for decades such as the original charmed , Buffy, supernatural, Smallville. Which prob will be rebooted too... and then made into something boring 😴 They to need to start making shows with quality again and throw in at least a theme song 🤣

Team OG for sure. I found it incredibly distasteful that there was zero respect given to the OG cast and crew when they are responsible for the series. I did try to give it a chance and I felt like I was watching a generic version of the original. It was just so bad! You can’t take their art that they spent time and energy on, give it a shiny new cover and call it yours and not expect the original creators and fans to not be upset by it.
I loved Charmed and still rewatch it every now and then. Piper was my favorite! I also loved Prue and was so bummed that we didn’t get the chance to see her character grow and evolve due to Shannen’s departure.
Remember when Melinda Warren was in the book of shadows in the first episode of the reboot? I do. So the notion that there are parallel universes of Charmed must mean that the OG Charmed ones are in the reboot and the other way around. So, following logic, the ending of the show was a silly last minute way to stoke the fire of the OG fans while also slapping them in the face.
That doesn't make sense. If it's a parallel Universe then a Melinda Warren could exist in both. And just because Melinda Warren was in their book of shadows does not mean her line even produced the OG charmed ones. That particular Melinda Warren in the reboot Universe could have died, burned at the stake, and her daughter could have also been killed, with no "kind soul talking pity on her." The daughter could have chosen evil when her powers emerged (the 48 hour window) and exacted revenge on the people that killed her mother. Melinda Warren in the reboot may not have had any kids at all, or her powers skipped a generation, or she could have been a relative in the Charmed line, and not the beginning of it. The whole notion of Parallel and Alternate Universes is there are usually the same people that exist under different circumstances and/or different choices affecting them.

tbh if we could just go back in time and add the diversity and representation that the original charmed desperately needed, I don't think it would ever be beatable.
Prue was the one who fought a loy for diversity on that show and she was making lots of headway. It would be great to have her on as a consultant on the reboot. Because there's a right way and a wrong way to add diversity to a show and 2 rule is that you don't announce it from the rooftops like these new writers did. It makes actors uncomfortable to be seen as a diversity hire. Absolutely worst thing you could do for an actors confidence. And it came out.
I loved the original Charmed. The new charmed I was really liking as well. (I heard it was cancelled along with several other shows.. sad. I was already excited to see the next story line for season 5) It was a new spine with great story content. I believe there are enough of years in between the old and new to appreciate them both.
The original Charmed can never be beaten, it was really one of the best witch shows I have seen yet and the reboot is a joke. The reboot just jumps right in to a load of stuff right away and rather then watching the original show, I think they just thought, "hay witches we can do that and bot bother looking up the original" That really P$%&£s me off. The reboot to me should of been canned after the first season, how it's gone this long is beyond me. Original Charmed ones forever baby.
I loved the OG, and nothing can replace it. That being said the reboot wasn't bad, but it was missing some type of link to the OG which would have made it cohesive and made it make sense. I feel it would have lasted longer by being more of a spin-off with the three new witches being grand or great-grandkids to the OG witches. As a stand-alone reboot, it didn't have the punch to last.
I feel like I am in a weird spot/grey area. As much as I loved the original and nothing can top it, I really did enjoy this reboot. I COMPLETLY get why the original writer's would be upset, because the reboot writers definitely hit up some OG writers for inspiration and the original cast earlier for some cameos/screen time. BUT with all that said, I seen in some interviews, the reboot writers were planning on to reach out for season 5 for cameos due to the plot having deal with a multiverse and finally get to see ALL my girls together!!!! I'm not excusing the reboot writers for their actions, but it does seem like they about to make things right.
Charmed was my favorite series growing up. I have all the DVDs encased in a special edition Book of Shadows holder. Have rewatched the series many times and still enjoy it to this day. Will forever love the cast. On that note, Proud to say I've never seen a single minute of the "reboot". No one will ever remember anything significant about it anyway.
i remember watching the original when I was 11 and it will always hold a place in my heart. But I actually do enjoy the new one as well. Though they are different in many ways they still bring out the best parts of charmed world. So in truth I love them both 💖

However I do think that there could've been a way to handle the reboot in a way that honored the previous shot but still keeping it's new flavor, they could've had this portal idea right at the beginning with the OG sister interacting with these sister after their mom is killed to bring together the power of three of two different worlds or something. They didn't have to make it the P3 sister's story but maybe include them in a few episodes as a way to pass on the mental to this new generation and that would've satisfied both old and new fans. The reboot was fun in the first and second season but I think they missed out on some good storylines because they were trying so hard to distance themselves from the original. Had they just embraced it I think it would've been a show I could watch again years from know but I don't see that happening, the OG series was timeless I still watch it but I really don't see the reboot being watched in the next 5 years. The ending with that portal to the OG house though I don't think that was a good move. Didn't feel right especially because of what we know has happened behind the scenes and them activly distancing themselves from the OG to see them do this did feel a bit disrespectful
Just watched the new one with my wife and we loved it. I saw a few episodes of the old version, which I also liked, and I am downloading it now for us. I feel they are both great in their own way.
Plus if you look to DC and Marvel when they talk about the Multiverse the alternate version of you is not always a look alike. Case in point in the Arrowverse shows when they had Crisis Brandon Ruth returned to his role as Superman and was Tyler Hoechlin Superman's alternate version? So it would have been nice to see the Charmed ones of the Original show to meet the new ones.
Let’s be honest, you can never compete with the original (if there is one) - or we’ll, it’s really hard to and in this case it was a lost battle from the start. The new actresses had no chemistry whatsoever while the OG ones despite what rumors say - I wasn’t there so I don’t know - on screen looked and behaved as if they were actually siblings. The show wasn’t about magic, it was about family. In my opinion, the OG actresses were, sorry, MUCH more talented than the new ones and didn’t need fancy music or funky CGI to make you bawl your eyes out. That’s talent. The new show was a bad idea and a totally unnecessary one at that; they could have done a prequel on Melinda, a new serie with Chris and Wyatt or their kids considering the OG actresses would have for sure been up for a cameo or two, or even something about the previous owners of the book, or why not a spin-off of a male trio like the Rowe clan presented in season 1. The possibilities were endless. When this whole thing started a lot of the cast members from the reboot were VERY rude to the OG fans even when they were very encouraging. Some OG fans were really mean, granted that, but more open minded fans still got heavily insulted and I am one of them. 90s shows are iconic and deserve to be left alone. You cannot remake them just by changing the name of the characters and put on the screen a couple of new actresses. It doesn’t work like that, I am sorry. There is only one Charmed and it’s the one done in the 90s. The new one couldn’t hold a candle to it. On all fronts. It didn’t even deserved to be called the same way. Some things should simply be left alone. Can you imagine someone else playing Buffy other than Sarah Michelle Gellar?
Exactly. If they did a Buffy reboot I'd lose. I get that this reboot dealt with issues we are dealing with today and that's what some people are arguing but let's say that the OG production were done in 2020 against this version the OG would still be better at dealing with Today's issues. The storytelling and the chemistry between actors was better with the OG period.

Honestly that wasn't really anything special at first it was cool to see but imo Its more of a disrespectful play to get possibly the OG fans to like the show and save the series but those who know there was a "status change" for the now series finale that was in an article like a month ago. They down to heart did not want any of the OG cast/team to be part of this series. -S1 of the new charmed was ok. Then it just went downhill from there S2 didn't make sense. S3 and onwards was like ok i think there going woke now.

absolutely hated the reboot. complete trash. they should have done the reboot with the next generation of Halliwell kids or not done it at all. it seemed those in charge wanted to shove this completely different version of charmed down our throats and that was sure to make it ultimately fail.
Team OG, my family watched the show since I was young and till the end. It had pull and a great story each season as characters developed slowly and carefully, the first episode of the new one I didn't even finish because it just combined the pilot with the lost sister story of Paige. Plus I think their whitelighter revealed themselves right away so it was rushing to use the elements from the OG to draw the classic fans in since this current gen has little attention and jump to a new series or season of another show once focus is gone
The only thing that the reboot got right was the diversity you saw in the people who appeared in the show cos the original had next to none But apart from that the original will always be far better even the sisterhood felt more authentic when prue died and they mourned her urgh Piper’s grief tore through me it was REAL and the introduction to a new sister The show was just perfectly written I couldnt find any faults EVEN DOWN TO THE HALLOWEEN EPISODE when they time travelled and saved Melinda Warren and made sure she was born in the protective circle I to this day cut an apple in half and add a bay leaf STILL and put them in the corners in my garden lol The spellss ahhhh the spells PERFECTION I still remember most of them by heart!!! But when Phoebe blew on that apple peal and it turned into the letter C and she assumed it was cole but it was UNCLE COOP The writing was just phenomenal its just like Smallville completely untouchable They dont do legendary shows like this anymore and they cancel the shows that actually have the potential to get to that epic level and instead keep giving us shitty reboots
Well the thing about reboot is there for the newer generation some kids are not gonna watch the original stuff as the generations go on regional stuff so they’re always gonna make a reboot I think but I do know some kids that like the original charm you know and I think the show had potential if they called it another name and not try to be a rip off of charm if I should’ve called in London another name change some things about it and if I would’ve been hit but again all these reboot or remakes or whatever they are for the new generation because a lot newer generation are not gonna watch the movies that will reveal shows some kids are not is that like to charmed the new one like the new charm or one that’s their opinion you’re always gonna have some who have a penny but more people I think like the original I think I watched a couple episodes of the reboot trying to give it a chance but I saw him with original charm

I loved both and would like to see a multiv-verse as that would be cool. Remember in the original Charmed, I think it was called, "Its a bad bad world," where there was the darker verse of PIper, Phoebe, and Paige, and faced their original selves the good (Piper, Pheobe, Paige). It paved the way for a multi-verse work and it should happen!!!!
Well actually, the whole idea of different planes of existence first mentioned in the very first season of OG Charmed paved the way for alternate dimensions and realities.

I knew the other Charmed wouldn't last long, it was a matter of time. They could have made up an original story, instead of the mom didnt tell them they were witches and then they had a sister they didn't know about also. When they killed Macy off it was a bad choice also.
Yeah, I'm guessing Madeleine Mantock (Macy) either knew the show might be getting axed (the Producers did) or she had something else to do. But when she was gone, I got sad. I really enjoyed her character. Lucy Barrett (Kaela) did not have the acting level I was hoping for. Even though I was not familar with Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffery prior to the reboot, I felt Lucy was not able to keep up with them, but I still enjoyed the show and would liked to have seen a shared UNIVERSE!!!
100% OG. Here's the thing. I gave the reboot chance after chance and it just didn't do it for me. However, I'm glad there was a following for it. I don't think that we need to bash one to lift up the other. It doesn't take away from what the OG did. However, when people come for OG Charmed it's a bit annoying because without it there would be no reboot. You show respect where it is due. That being said. There were negatives and positives of both versions. OG Charmed seemed a bit inconsistent sometimes and a bit campy. Although imo I loved the campiness honestly. The reboot at times felt very preachy and rushed. The sisters didn't really come off as sisters but roommates who just so happened to have powers. When OG charmed was created, it was pitched to the network as sisters who happen to be witches. Whereas, I feel the reboot was pitched as just the opposite. That makes all the difference honestly. OG Charmed was more about the sisters trying to find normalcy and balance in their lives amid fighting demons every week. Whereas with the reboot I didn't really get a feel of them as sisters. The reboot lost the human aspect of it all for me. I gave the reboot 1 season and half of season 2. I think the verdict is final. OG wins, hands down!!!! Lastly, please reframe from talking about the offscreen issues the OG cast had. It still doesn't take away from the magic they created. It really doesn't. I wanted a reboot with the kids of the sisters. That’s what I thought they’d do, but no a whole different story. It shouldn’t have even used the name of anything related to the OG.
I literally saw enough in the clips they showed when it first came out to know it was going to suck compared to the original. The only way they should have done a reboot is if they were going to continue the original storyline with the next generation and had the original Charmed Ones occasionally take part in episodes.
The OG charmed was the best and the OG cast were brilliant in there roles. I didnt like the new ones at all it was just wrong even they new cast were bad.
I liked the first season of the reboot, but things went wrong in the second season, and after trying to continue watching, I realized I don't have to. The things I liked about season 1 were non-existant in season 2. I'm currently rewatching the OG, and even if it has it's flaws (like lack of queer representation, and some of the male gaze oriented wardrobe choices of the later seasons), I find it still way better than the reboot. I was a teenager when the OG aired, and watching it as a "grown-up" is quite a different experience.
Exactly! The reboot killed off everything that made the show Charmed. The reboot shouldn't even be called Charmed, especially if you killed off the charmed lore. They killed off both the elders and the whitelighter. They destroyed the book of shadows, and moved the house. Then in season 4 they killed off the lore of sisterhood. Now anyone can be charmed as long as you are chosen. I guess the writers thought they were writing for buffy the vampire slayer.
As someone who watched both versions of the show I'd like to know where the writers of the rebooted version got official word that the writers of the original version disliked each other. Also have they never heard of Dry Humour?
I'm with OG 100% and this is coming from someone who loves both shows. I just wished the reboot was it's own name and not a reboot of an iconic show. I first watched the OG Charmed in 2018 and have fell in love with it ever since. I just wished the writers could have included the OG people in the project. I don't know if they asked but it would have been cool to have any one of the main characters show up as a cameo in any of the seasons.
To add on if they truly loved the original as much as the reboot they would have added more from the original. Like in the OG from season 1 to season 4 they build up the Source of All Evil and in the reboot it was only one season and basically forgot about until they needed magic to boost the tree in the reboot. The only things that are the same is that there is three sisters living in a red manor. So to wrap it up the reboot should have been it's own show with a different name.
I love both shows the OG Charmed and The Reboot. This feud is ridiculous, the original one is show in reruns every morning all 8 seasons no one has forgotten the original Charmed the reason I fell in love with the New Charmed is because they are portrayed as three beautiful ladies of color and when it first came on it was dealing with some issues of today ; Such as Me Too Movement and racism and the whole Karen debacle. Also I remind everyone in the comments that one of the actresses from the Original Charmed a.k.a Shannon Doherty supported the actresses of the new Charmed remember?

This unnecessary feud between “OG” and “Re-boot” Charmed is frustrating and tiring. The re-boot was made of this show because like most re-boots, it gives an alternative or updated perspective that the original didn’t make, not always because it wasn’t good, but because during that time did not consider anything or anyone outside of that. Re-boots happen to bring back to light a beautiful story and concept that makes it currently relevant and not just “continue on” as not to disturb the perfection that was felt with OG cast and its time. I more than anyone being a singer/performer/creative absolutely understands not wanting to mess with or even touch a work of it would truly disregard a works original intent, but one has to question, are they and most OG fans angry that maybe the new one leaves them on the outskirts of a story that only considered their representation before? Is there anger because fan service that wanted to be appeased? Did this re-boot truly deviate from the intent and message the original set out to produce? Have we truly given the re-boot a chance without only judging it based on modern approach to historical and still current concerns? It’s clear to me that the re-boot has buried its original, and if anything brought lite and viewership to it from the newer show and the feud only creates more divide and forcing of choosing sides that didn’t need to be chosen. One could love and appreciate both without invalidating the other.
THANK YOU! There’s a difference between “reboot” and “remake” for a reason. Any intention of trying to “rid” the original would be utterly ridiculous when it’s clear, that’s where the base of this comes from. I for one, LOVE both versions and have not feuded over which one is better. We need to stop with the “competition”, “this one is better,” or “this over that”. Let’s look to things we LIKE in both and stop bashing the other. I get a lot of individuals grew up with the OG, but that doesn’t mean the new one has nothing to bring to the screen.
As much as I love the original show, I find it ironic that a show they defend so much about being the blueprint for “feminism,” constantly tears down the other show and have tearing it down since before it aired. That’s the exact opposite of feminism. Your support your other ladies no matter the differences you might have. The original show ended for a reason. It’s okay to give a reboot a chance as well. I don't support all other women's actions because they have the same genitals as me, and I'm certainly not going to pat them on the back and tell them how stunning and brave they are for butchering other people's good ideas. While I don't think it was necessary for the OG actresses to weigh in, the reboot team seem to be the ones who fired the first shots by inferring the original show wasn't feminist, and the new actresses were happy to pile on as well where they could have simply smiled, been the bigger people and let it be. Marketing these days seems to primarily revolve around ticking off the original fanbase as much as possible. It's a horrible long-term strategy, because it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of the most profitable and engaged part of your audience, but it gets clicks in the short-term, which is enough for anyone who's just making a half-baked reboot for a quick cash grab. I agree that it didn't have to be connected to the original and I don't see why the original actresses should have been consulted. However, as with many reboots these days, it didn't feel like it understood or respected the original source material. It was like the showrunners watched the original show once, without taking notes and while playing around on their phones, and then just regurgitated as much as they could remember without much interest or care, and certainly with no desire to innovate. Compare that to the reboot of Battlestar Galactica, which took the concept in a completely new direction and really took ownership of the original idea.
I am just enjoying the reboot. I recently discovered the series on Netflix and ready to start the reboot from the beginning again. These sisters tackle social issues and give characters a chance to live. I enjoyed watching the original series and from my purchased CD set from the decorative case and this series came in daily in reruns on tv.
If we didn’t know this ending sooner, I bet they would of done a new season. I would of loved to see 6 charmed ones in one place. Imo, the best charmed fans believe in the power of 8 because all 8 are awesome in very different ways.
they might have gotten along but to say they’ve never had one disagreement behind the scenes is a stretch. the fact that they didn’t pay tribute to the original series until the FINALE episode is another stretch. the new writers may have gotten along, but lack the ability to create a *successful* reboot 😂🤭
I love both the OG and the reboot they both have put in hard work. I for one wanted to see more of charmed unfortunately mainly because of the disputes this didn't happen. I love OG so badly but the reboot has its own flare to it ,that make it interesting . Also the reboot allow Young generation to see charmed from their Young and vibrant personalities and perspectives. I love Paige, phoebe, P and piper from OG but I also love Mal, Macy, Mel and Kayla from the reboot.
Young generation.... the actors are like in their 30s lol the older cast aren't old. So something tell me is that ppl today just like a lot of love triangles and a bunch of multiverses ... that's it
I was in my 3rd grade when i watched the first run of Charmed series and kept it up since then. The OG tops the reboot in many aspects, the plots, the story, the climax for each episode etc.
I have love the OG for the longest, but I also enjoyed the new one. My issue with it is that it claimed to be a reboot but it was realistically an entirely different show. Had they named it something else and THEN revealed it was a parallel universe, that would have been brilliant. But they played it off like it was the same story and that's where they flopped.
My issue with the show was that it heavily borrowed from the OG show and it failed to create it's own identity like how are you gonna create an afro latina show with only light skin actresses that also butchered the spanish language with their thic gringo accent everytime they mumbled spells in spanish and on top of that they made Melinda Warren their ancestor like wtf? They could have represented the afro descent religions and witchcraft but instead the show was another euro centric hodge podge that seemed more like a Sy Fy channel reject
One is a cult classic meaning 30 years from now ppl will still be watch it the other one was for a money grab but ended up being cancelled just at season 4 and then technically season 2, season 3 didn't even matter 🤣 the use of magic was prevalent in the original the reboot was not... the og sisters look like they could be all related the reboot thr sisters did not so.....
I'm watching OG charmed now and I completely agree that if they did start something with the 3 sisters kids then it would have been awesome. But to disregard the charmed ones like they didn't exist is wrong. Not to mention there wouldn't be another set of charmed witches again for a long time
OG charmed fan. But I gave the reboot a shot. Season 1 of the reboot was the best season , but after that you can tell that they just didn't care . It was totally just a money grab wrap up in false wokeness .
I’m a huge OG fan to lost for words cause the show was so amazing and I still binge watch it till this day on peacock. The reboot not really a fan saw the first half of the episode wasn’t really vibing it
I met the OG cast, I must say I didn't like meeting them. They were stuck up. Shannon was easier one to talk to. Alyssa and Rose lived in their own universes, I was merely a fly on the wall. Holly I think just wanted to go home, the hell everyone else.... Julian was alright (Cole/Balthazar) I liked him That being said, Im on team OG
I’m for the Reboot. Love the multiverse idea. I watched both enjoyed both. I related more with the reboot character’s personally. They might reboot it again in another 10-20 years for the next generation. It’s fine in my opinion.
