There are too many teachers with tenures and are failing our kids on a daily basis. With these tenures it's nearly impossible to fire a teacher hat is underachieving and because of it the student suffers. I think it's an excellent idea to pay the teachers more because they do deserve it. If a teacher that is hired by an Charter School does his or her job they don't have to worry about being fired. I'm sure there are several teachers that would take this offer.

Also a very ignorant statement. Too many Blacks and Brownes don’t value education and refuse to admit it. Instead they pander to whites and jump aboard the charter school bandwagon. Completely ignoring public schools that out perform charters who most commonly SELECT and ONLY accept the kids who are already academically and behaviorally developed.

It's all about the unions the salaries the money! The public school system can be fixed but corporate won't let it happen! We lost over 90% of our vocational schools for no reason! Wake up America! As lone as parents are kept in the dark about the truth. They will assume charter school is the way.

+Jose Grafals Charter schools are public schools. The regular public schools should be given more leeway to design their own programs like charters do, based on what can be shown to really work.

+jabberwolf ur preaching to the choir. But now the choir is performing Chopstick's Raspberry in B Sharp, special for you, because you didn't really read my post for what I said. To sum up: Charters rock, in large part because they can use more creative methods. The charter I worked in was composed 100% of public teachers in the teachers union, so that's not always the breath of death. (I know next to nothing about unions; I was in one of course but all they did was collect dues, as far as I saw.)
@josegrafals3808
@josegrafals3808 8 лет назад
I don't disagree with you. Charter schools are better because they don't have the restrictions that public schools have. But unfortunately not every Charter school is a heaven. The one in my building is constantly replacing people. Not one or two. First year twenty quit and the following year fifteen more. The reason was that the principal was working them beyond there legal limits but you do what's demanded or walk. It's great when the union is not a factor. And this is not the only school with complaints about staff abuse. Of course unions should be regulated so they don't get power hungry.

I found the reason behind the no vob schools. When Bush came into office in 2000 and he signed the no child left behind he also closed the vob schools. He wanted a degree in what vob class the teacher was assigned to teach.

I'm graduating high school in a month, and the teachers are crazy and mentally deranged here in NJ public school. Two years of my high school, I went to a different school it was a lot different. It was a vocational/high school. I don't know the official name for the type of school, but the school is called GCIT. The teachers were much better and more intelligent, though English teachers were still crazy

What I like about their mindset is that the teachers were not misled or misinformed in order to apply or accept the job-- transparency is key. They knew when they signed up about the expectations and happily did them.

Education is a continuous process. It doesn't start and end in school. Infact i can say most kids learn from interaction with their parents and guardians at home. This is especially true for mothers because they turn to spend more time with the kids. If you don't have a smart and engaging mother or guardian at home with the kids, chances are they will be lacking in many areas. Kids are constantly asking questions at home. Adults most provide accurate and intelligent answers to those questions. This is probably one of the most significant education in the growth of a child. This principal is clueless. Education is not some product that you are develop in a lab, scale to any level and get desire results. There are many factors that contribute to effective education.

most adults ignore the fact that school requires more work and stress than almost any work. Most jobs are based on routine, doing similiar things every time. It is true, that they might work a bit longer, but it is still less stressful. School requires to memorise tons of stuff, plus doing reports. They get light three texts a week, plus set books to finish. What is more, on very varied topics. None job is as stressful than school. Ask anyone whether he would choose school or job, they would pick job every time.

Maybe I was a different kind of kid, but I don’t find that to be true. School was never a problem for me. Except for one year when I did not have enough discipline to sit still so I failed third grade. Before then I did fine, after then I did great. But working 80 or 90 hours a week, that’s basically unbearable. Especially if you have a family to take care of.

I mean think about - that is some really stupid logic right there: "Why are these excellently run schools popping up in my school district! Somebody needs to put a stop to that." I would think that after watching something like this you'd be more inclined to think: "Damn, they need to replicate this across the country as much as possible!".

@bbbbbbb51

No, they don't. Teacher's unions & tenure are deeply anti-American sentiments. The quality of what you bring to the table as your teacher should be your tenure. Your track record of truly teaching & cementing new ideas in students should be your tenure. You as a teacher should not be difficult to fire. It sets an extremely bad precedent that your career as a teacher is more important than the students who you should be educating. That's completely bass ackwards from any system that wants to raise bright students. It enables teachers to do the bare minimum & not be tossed to the side for it. It allows & enables mediocrity in schools. The students are not the problem. Funding is not the problem. Teachers, unions, & tenure are the problem

I work extremely hard as a public school teacher. I had many years of studying & training to become one. Unfortunately, you don't have to be certified or licensed in order to teach in a charter school. You don't necessarily need a teacher's degree to work there. Ultimately, it's the children who suffer & pay the price for getting a "Low Quality" Education!

Ms.Dannette, I have been in a chater school since kindergarten and I am now in eighth grade. Charter schools don't work for everyone and some teachers have expectations that are too high but I have done very well in the charter school environment. I have been taking high school math, science, and Spanish classes since seventh grade and I have a 4.0 GPA. There are good charters and bad ones just like publics and privates. Heres what I will say, Charters perform better and my school and my school rarely has fights, but scores are over-inflated due to the fact that the parents push their kids so much. I have had crap teachers. When I was in second grade I was in a terrible family situation and I used to cry every day in a corner. Not a single teacher noticed. I have had teachers ignore me and my questions because I do well in their class. Despite this, I will say my good experiences have far outweighed the bad and I can't think of a teacher in my school without a teaching degree. I don't know what school you are talking about but I know my school does its own training programs so maybe it's different where you are from (I live in Florida). I don't what school does not require a teaching degree and training but it sounds like that school would be very ghetto and would close in a year 🤷‍♀️. Feel free to ask any questions don't worry I won't be offended

The school is false advertising. I'm taking my kid out after only 1 month and putting him back to a less stressful public school. The pressure on the teachers on that school is unreal. They only get two weeks off a year which makes them so robotic. When you talk to them it's like talking to Siri. The school starts at 7:30Am and ends at 4PM and not to mention the homework is absurd. My kid was doing well but felt a lot of pressure from the teachers which would transfer over to my wife and I. My kid was a Honor Roll student at his last school and was doing well but I feel guilty for putting him through the hell that is called TEP. The place where they don't give you recess if you don't finish a question and make you do more work. there is no difference in putting your child in a good public school. Charter schools are a money making scam.

I went to this school, for all 4 years, and you're guilt, and want to give your child an easier way to pass is what is hurting them. The work they put in is beneficial, and the fact that you removed your child from an academically rigorous school is holding pack their potential. The teachers also get approximately 2 months of break, just spaced out across trimesters rather than semesters. Before you spout none sense about a school, do your research about the school and it's teachers.

Christopher Carambot, you are truly telling the truth they are a scam and some of the teachers are like Robots, especially here in Texas, I see some teachers that care and boosts the child, like they care but some of them are just ridiculous. The administrators like 4 to 5 different principals for 1st to 3rd grade or ridiculous, and they all read from the same script, talking about preparing the kids for college. (Shots smh) Administrators, act like they own the school why ask for respect when you can't some respect for parents your dang self. And big corporations get extra rich off of your children. Do your research....... My grandson is outta there!!!

This video is propoganda and does not deal with the realities of teaching. Where was the discussion of behavior problems and charters just throw them out. Yes, we'll pay you $125,000 a year, but God help you if you have a disagreement with the principal over something. It'll be "bye bye, your services are no longer required." Or you're a teacher who refused to sleep with the principal. "Bye bye, you're no longer needed." Or it's been determined that you're just too old, or too sickly, or too far, or too gay, or you can't stay to 7:00 because you have a family, or you dare to speak up against the powers that be in ANY WAY! You guessed it, "your services are no longer needed." Do not be fooled, education is infinitely complex. Student achievement is based on many different factors such as: home environment,different levels of motivation, different levels of intelligence, the presence of hunger, mental illness and many other things. Teachers need a union, and protection
