except that its inferior in every way to the AZ. A geetar is a geetar in the right hands.. all will sound good. However, unlike Charvel who cuts corners to save $, the AZ is superior in every way. This particular charvel model suffers from poor tuning, non SS and sharp fret ends and a bridge that is not a real Gotoh 510... The pups are are also a hot mess with limited options. I think it shines if you prefer slimmer necks and hotter pups, but otherwise even the premium AZ is vastly superior... i know i own them all..

ken masters, do you own the premium or prestige AZs? I mean, are you comparing this Charvel to what version of the AZ? This info will be helpful for me to decide which way to go

@@barbosa_ricardo if you don't mind a beefier neck... The premium AZ is the better instrument. The prestige is comparable to USA made guitars in terms of construction and quality.... Personally don't like the AZ because I prefer thinner necks. The charvel is good too, just read up on the issues before buying.

I've tried the premium series and the charvel ( same price level) and it's a big difference for me. The sound and the neck of the charvel is much better. The prestige I've didn't try because it costs much more.

@@gadadharband5947 premium costs more and you do get more in the premium AZ compared to a Mexican charvel. The AZ has stainless steel frets and better hardware. In terms of sound it's subjective. Charvel is pursuing the 80s hair metal sound. It breaks up if you go too high in gain, and many don't like the cleans. The AZ on the other hand has a better switching system and the pups cover a wide range but excels in cleans. To each their own. I would buy both!!

I've always wanted this sunburst one. Would put red DiMarzios in. Maybe PAF Pro bridge, EJ Custom in the neck. They need to start making sunburst again and get rid one of the 8 pinks smdh

Kind of surprised he kept that tone on the video, for all of those it sounded like garbage. I'm inclined to think it's over-saturating the mic.

Some of the Harley Benton guitars are fantastic. The fusion series has legit roasted maple and stainless steel frets and its under 400 dollars. The only cheap things are the pickups and they aren't too bad.

These are super affordable compared to the companies they're competing against such as Ibanez (prestige and even premium and suhrs. Those guitars have similar features and specs but are at a much higher price point than these charvels. Like someone else saie , get a harley benton they offer similar features at a much lower price point but the tone and build quality and reliability will suffer. IF you dont care about that and care more about price then go for the harley.

Try really cranking the locking tuners hard, I've had 2 of these and they both stayed in tune great! I currently own the Shell Pink HSS

you should replace the string tree with a graptech, it works perfectly

Changed the machine heads to set of staggered locking gotohs and the good ole nuts sauce

Is it a feel thing, tone, or both?

@@rfidtech9286 To me its a feel and a slight tone thing.. But most of all, feel.. They feel smoother, plus I play a LOT of guitar and they never seems to wear out.

What do you think about the HSS version for straty sounds?

Dude chill. I currently have a charvel Dk Pro mod 2 of them (hss and hsh), 2 ibanez az prestige (hss and HH) and two classic s suhrs. The Dk pro mod is definitely the best value for a gigging musician. That doesnt mean that its better than the ibanez az or vice versa. The AZ has all the tonal versatility like this new charvel does. The older models (shell pink and army drab which is what i have) dont have the switch to get the other 5 sounds. This one does. You're right about the sculped heel but the AZ still feels comfy. Its about preference. People who want more traditional will go with the AZ. If youre more modern and want a more modern instrument then the charvel is better for them. Suhr is factually a better built instrument than both. No question about it. However, its so damn expensive I had to save alot of money to get mine. That is its only downside, the price. Each to their own man not everyone likes the features of the charvel. It is missing SS frets which is one of its biggest downside at that $1000 price point when you compare to the AZ and suhr having SS frets.

Thanks sheriff :-).Ok I agree to each their own.They have some big differences in terms of necks and electronics thet to me means they are different beasts. The fact you own the hsh and the hss says it all though :-). I don’t know many with the az and these charvels . To me they are incredible since their neck profile and the fact you could play on them for hours and hardly feel it separate them from the comp. Especially at this price this is what gives it the edge which you admit.Is the az caramelized? I also own the shell pink hss got it right when it dropped and own a lot more charvels(mij usa guthrie) which are even better.My first electric was an ibanez rg270. Anyways , the charvel you own is not this one we are talking about. This has unique wiring positions like all 4 single coils in parallel engaged something ibanez doesnt do. So i am arguing imho the charvels have better wiring and pickups to me, and are better tonally for blues and funk ,which is of course subjective. Ibanez az is the most versatile ibanez of the bunch, but not that close in terms of versatility to my ears. Position 2 and 4 on even the shell pink gives off a better strat quack and spank and woody tone like hendrix/stevie/gallagher..Now you say the ibanez is more traditional.. I will argue the standard san dimas and so cal are the most traditional and are converting many full on strat and lester players like myself( which are the majority of players). Never liked the in-between thing like prs hehe..They usually have a 12-16 compound radius and that is very les paul like ,and gibsons are 12 inch radius. Also they are not that super bam intimidating and actually the sound is geared to more traditional rock and metal awesome in the mix covers blues /funk the ibanez usually is a bit leaning towards more towards modern progressive/shred /djent...and charvel could cover blues and funk with their alder bodies and coil splits and electronics. Way easier to fix if something goes wrong if you are a gigging musician.To me they are the perfect workhorse for a cover band or a musician on tour. Good luck finding vtrem parts on tour. Now about suhr i love them and how they were run, but today it isn’t the same. I have seen some really bad warping on their fretboards after the fact. Heard some horro stories avout their qc recently since my friends own a high quality giuitwt shop that used to carry suhr consistently. So when i will be willing to spend 3k on a gitfiddle again , it will most likely be a gibson or a charvel custom shop.. Maybe a jaydee sg hehe.. About ss frets , never have been a fan. They impart this high pitch tingy noise occasionally a bit annoying . Nickel sounds best to me,which is what inhave on all my gits. I agree on the pound for pound this is the git to get for price. Again to each their own. We all love what we love enjoy your gits. Seems like you have the versatility angle covered with your ibanez and charvels :-)

Jake S as much I would love to reply this is a long response but like you said each to their own! But wow I’m surprised by the suhr part. I have both Mateus asato signature and so far they’re amazing in terms of build quality. Necks warping is just part of nature. Wood is a changing piece of matter that adheres to the environment. Any neck can warp whether at any time. It depends on the environment and the wood. But if you have any more horror stories about suhr please do tell I’m curious.
