snagged one of these for a nice price right before CBA announced they were going to be nixed, so glad! really unique thing, thanks for the creative ideas and inspiration
@@EcoCentrist nice! Yea this is a really solid delay pedal. Even without all the coop extra features, it’s just sounds nice and warm. I’ll probably keep this thing forever. I stopped using the pitch shifting pretty much all together because even though it sounds cool, it’s just too recognizable as a pedal. I’m not sure that’s a great thing or not. It just feels strange now when I hear it. That’s ok because it’s still straight up one of the best delays ever. This and the echo system (totally different beast for sooooo many reasons) are my favorite delays. Recently I’ve replaced the thermae on my board with the demedash t120 delux. That’s possibly the best delay pedal I’ve ever had. The modulation is perfect! Thanks for watching and taking the time to watch ☺️
I seem to have a knack for showing up late to a party but this is the best demo of the Thermae on the internet, in my humble opinion (I would argue it's even more meaningful than the almighty Knob's effort; blasphemy, I know).
How did I not see this in my feed 2 weeks ago?? It came up this morning and I ran, literally ran downstairs to watch on a big screen with a real sound system.
AwakeFM There’s no Time knob on the Therma. But the rest of the features make up for it. I’ve also got a a Tonal Recall and it’s a beautiful delay. The modulation on the Thermae is amazing though! Very different than the TR. good luck in your delay search :)
Thanks for actually making this pedal sound useful. I've been utterly fascinated by its possibilities for a while but most demos just go like "here, check out this crazy shit it can do, bleep blop bleepity bluuurrr. Now have fun making this work in any sort of musical context" Loved that Volca Sample part in particular (and the warbly one after that)!
Yea there’s no shortage of weird sounding things in here and I feel like when it first came out, a lot of people didn’t fully understand it. Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it 😊
Got through the whole thing on the first watch. Embarrassed to say that I didn’t funny understand it as much as I do now after watching your demo. Couldn’t wait to get home to apply all the info learned here.
Dude, don't be embarrassed! That's exactly why I made this video, so people could really get a grip on what's happening. I'm seriously glad it helped :)
i watch your videos for more than one hour ...it s art ! guitar, bass synths, volca sample,,,very interresting,, really. i really love your works !!! bravo
Thanks dude! It took me a long time to get used to it and I had a TON of questions so I'm glad it helped you out a little :) That supplemental manual (link in description) is super helpful, you should check it out for sure.
Yup, that's who I got it from (with permission to use). I'm pretty sure he name over there is "OverdriveLover". He's a nice guy, lays it out real simple.
@@danielk.5784 Thermae is great but yes, way too expensive. The T-120 is one of only three delays I own and I love it. The modulation section is golden!
dingbatjack1234 Thanks! Glad you like it :) Those are from a company called 3 Monkeys Solderless. They sent me a Bunch I use and they have been holding up really well (especially since I’m plugging and unplugging them all the time).
Thanks SO much for making this!! Starting to understand this after watching the vid 3x and reading the manual several times. Thermae seems nearly limitless in possibilities. The link by @jshimchi is broken. I'd love to read that info if anybody has a working link. Thanks again abunchofpedals!
That's awesome to hear it helped you out. That was what I was going for. I'll try to see if I have the file and link it myself. EDIT: I found a copy and I'll change the description.
that is one beautiful looking pedal ( art nouveau-ish design and coloring of the buttons and case) and so many options of expressive modes...wow considering to sell the Meris for this beauty!
you think? It's been hard to tame the meris. tho I have been impressed and enjoyed when I manage to get it nice. I dont have the optional unit to save settings.
STOPP! don't you dare to sell that polymoon. get yourself a Thermae, route it into your poly - and then come back and say "thank you" for that advice. (I own both... so... well... =)
I just think they're really different pedals. The Polymoon is awesome at getting pad sounds (that's what I use it for at least). I just meant they're both awesome pedals and it would be a hard choice to make.
Really really nice video. I do have a question though. Is there any way for me to sync up the sequences with my playing? Due to the fact that the sequences are not envelope triggered (I believe) the sequence does not start when I start to play. Additionally there is no indicator for how far I am into the sequence thus making it nearly impossible for me to know when to start playing. Is it possible to hook it up to another pedal (something like a midi clock or some sort of midi controller) that triggers the sequence only when there is audio input?
Thanks for positive feedback, much appreciated and I’m glad you liked the video. Damn, that’s a good question. I’m not exactly sure to be completely honest. I think there’s a guy named Paul who works at CBA (he’s like the midi master), try getting in touch with them. I’d love to know what you find out, keep me posted because that would be rad!
@@aBunchOfPedals thank you for your reply!! Coincidentally I already contacted the midi support of chase bliss a few minutes before I commented on your video. I have not recieved a reply yet but I will definitely keep you updated :)
@@aBunchOfPedals They contacted me today. Here is what they said: "Unfortunately there is no way to get visual feedback as to where you are in the sequence, or to be able to dynamically trigger the sequence" Very unfortunate...
Thanks for checking it out, glad you liked the video. There's a standard MIDI out on the Minilogue and that gets connected to a CBA MIDI box to convert it into 1/4" TRS. Check out the CBS website, there's a bunch of info on the MIDI box.
Im floored thanks for taking your time with this one and explaining it , just wonderful and mysterious even right , really feeling a BOC vibe . Sub added !!! can't wait to check out more just found this channel . Do you think this is better than Hologram Electronics: Infinite Jets for BOC type vibe ? Which peddles do you think are best for that vibe ?
Oh now you're speaking my language! I love BoC so you definitely hear soem influence in there. First of all, I'm really happy you found this video helpful. The Thermae is a wild pedal (if you want it to be) but it also has some of the coolest modulation I've heard in a delay. Honestly, if I had to pick one pedal to get that BoC vibe, it would be the Zvex Instant Lo-Fi Junky. It's got great modulation and compression. That would be my go to pedal for that stuff. That being said, you have a TON more options with the Thermae (obviously). Check out my video on the Infinite Jets, it's a weird one :)
For anyone asking the same question, if you don’t think you’ll use the pitch shifting feature (which is not always the easiest to integrate into a song); the blue-knob Tonal Recall is all you need. If you don’t need the dip switches / modulation possibilities of Chase Bliss pedals, there are a lot of other great analog delay options (DM2, Carbon Copy, Memory Boy, Aqua Puss...)
Anyone else have issue with switching Modulation on and off? Seems like it get's stuck and starts modulating different interval pitches. Sometime I can't even turn in on or off. And I have yet to get external tap to do anything but create oscillation feedback locked to the tempo.
George Marial It really depends how long your delay time is and where the filter is set. Longer delay times and less filtering will get noisy. I think it sounds perfect with the filter rolled back to like 9 or 10 o’clock.
That's more of a personal preference. The longer delay times will have more noise, the filter can get rid of some but that's just the nature of analog delay. I still think it's cool but some might not.
@aBunchOfPedals Got them both. Though I prefer the things I can do with habit it gets a bit lost in a band environment. The thermae on the other hand, sounds amazing, even with a drummer banging like there is no tomorrow and a bass player with an amp cranked up at 11. Both keepers.
@aBunchOfPedals I agree they do make great stuff. Having said that I still prefer my cooper fx Gen loss v1 to the chase bliss versions or the Gen loss card in the arcades.
Yea it seems like they’re really hard to get and honestly, $600 isn’t worth it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing pedal and I’ll never get rid of mine. A great alternative is the Demedash Effects t-120 (regular or deluxe version). It’s got solid delay and the modulation is amazing. Also king of pricey and it doesn’t come with all the fancy bells and whistles. Or if you want a really cool (this might be my favorite pedal of all time). The Homenoise Effects Black Lodge delay/reverb combo is AMAZING.
@@aBunchOfPedals Yeah. Cause the effects sure sound awesome! I could just imagine what a true stereo could with voicings if built right (with a couple more blend knobs!)
Think of it as a pedal you don’t stomp on. Beyond that, they are as well made as any pedal I have ever owned...if stomping is your jam. I keep some on the floor, and for some, the hand is quicker than the stomp.
MCHiphopotamus lol, you felt that deep in your soul. I think it’s just the delay chips. It’s hard to get analog delay to sound super clear with massive delay times. This does get noisy... personally, I don’t mind, I thinking works perfectly for what I’m after. If I want prestige delay I’ll go either with the Echosystem or the Polymoon if I want something weird. What delays are you rocking?
