I love everything about this concept. It’s not a delay pedal. It’s a memory pedal. We love to think we know our memories, but in reality they are just jumbled fragments that never appear completely the same way when we remember them.
Ahhh great connection you made right there, I love that. That's exactly how the brain works, mirrored beautifully in how the memory of the pedal is constantly overwriting itself and getting more degraded.
I have a complicated background with memory, and this comment did Not help. I won't rember buying it or why I hate it, but thats something I'll forget too
This is all so wonderful, Emily! I always enjoy the level of imagination your music brings, you have a sound and expression of your own and we're blessed to hear you play.
What you do with the pedals you demo has been such an interesting ride. There's a level of creativity and curiosity to them that I really appreciate, in addition to the videos being informative. It's fun to watch. Keep up the good work, guys.
right?!? I'm so glad you like it as much as I do!! 🥰❤️ that vocal sample is from my very talented friend Natalie, we've done some duet covers with harp and voice here on the channel. as soon as I sent Natalie's voice through Habit I was like 🤯🤯🤯
thank you so much!! 🥰❤️ I'm so glad you liked that vocal segment as much as I did; that sample is from my very talented friend Natalie (we have some harp and vocal duets here on the channel), and as soon as I sent her voice through Habit I was like whaaAAAAAT NO WAY 🤯🤯🤯
I like that this pedal kind of enables a real-time version of the way I like to freely draw modulation and weird track interactions into my DAW, without concerns about playability. This is a complex pedal, but really impressive. Great music as always 🤘
I can't believe I've only just subscribed - everything I've watched of yours is rad. Out of all the Habit videos I've watched, yours really helps me get a better sense of all the cool things packed in (although I still would need a few years to figure out this pedal!) Awesome playing as always!
thank you SO much for the kind words, Eddie, and thanks for being here with us now!! 🥰❤️ I'm really glad this helped you get a better sense of Habit -- it can be a little overwhelming at first, but once you spend some time exploring all the functions and sounds, it really does all start making sense! 😂🎶
This is much more than the "yet another glitch delay" I though it was on announcement. Not sure about the visuals, but its fun, and maybe pedal world needs more of that (even I can only take so much raw steel/brushed aluminum. I thought the contexts you used it in demonstrated it's versatility and adaptability; kind of reminds me of blooper and MOOD, but completely different. I especially enjoy the almost "2000s ambient electronica" sound the Habit seems to have in it. If I got my hands deep into one, I think I would end up using it all the time without really thinking about it... oops, maybe we need a warning on CBA if they're forming so many habits. Can't promise I'll remember everything in this video, but maybe Habit will! I loooooove it and another tasteful jam from this jammery of a channel. Thanks, Em (and RUSS)
The effects you can get out of this pedal are so cool! Some of them were so relaxing that I almost fell asleep while listening. (Probably also helped that I was in bed watching the video lol)
hahah thank you so much, Alex!! 🥰❤️ I felt the same way hahah this pedal responds so well to the harp and it's almost like meditating for me when I listen back
@@emilyharpist you really did. If I get one I’ll use your affiliate link :). I think I’ll likely pass. For unexplainable musical deligtfulness I really like my Microcosm, and I love my Mood 🤙🙂
Came here looking for videos on the Habit, ended up falling in love with your music. ❤️ ... if ONLY I had discovered you before my wedding (and you lived closer to Hawaii), you would have been exactly what my wife and I were looking for.
Thanks so much!! I'm glad you found the channel! I'm so glad my music resonates with you ❤️ Hahaha playing a wedding in Hawaii would be AMAZING!!! Too bad I can't really fly my harp anywhere though :( Welcome to the channel!
Thanks for this! I really appreciate some new settings, and you guys get such nice things out of the modifiers. I've been so stuck on the idea of the compositional tool that Ive sent little time on the rest Now that I have a few dozen hours in with the acoustic I'm convinced this can truly change the way you write and iterate ideas, or even improvise on the fly- though there anything outside glitch or ambient takes some finesse, doable though. I prefer to set Spread to random square bounce for bringing in the memories though. Or Scan can join in as well if set to manual and automated that way too(say, L2R dips 3-10 on). The default autoscan- it just spends too much time making the scanning noise and not enough playing bits at too many settings. With both randomized like that it's more likely a trip to crazytown, or at least a shambling triple tap delay, but in such a good way. Thanks again for your ideas, I'm going to test them out now :)
Hey 👋 I’m glad to see your back on RU-vid feed I haven’t seen you in a while Again thank you for getting these rare pedals If one thing maybe Music can find that great vibrations for Aliens or Somewhere in Space love you @Emily Hopkins 🤟🏻🎸❤️🎹☮️☮️
Imagine constantly recording your voice and having this pedal keep saying random things you've said in the past, that would be unnecessarily embarrassing
hahah i'M SO SORRY, REX!!! 😂❤️ I've had both Blooper and Mood, and honestly, I would choose Habit over both of them. I ended up buying and selling Mood twice throughout the past 3 years, because as much as I loved it (it was my very first pedal!), over time I started to realize that other pedals functions overlapped what Mood could do, too, and I wasn't using it as often anymore... I still have Blooper too but I'm low key still trying to understand it 😂😂😂
I love all the Chase Bliss pedals / devices, but now I'm torn between the Habit, and the latest MOOD MKII . . . Your presentation here, however, is very convincing, leaning toward the Habit at the moment.
Wow! This is incredible! So for the vocal accompany you have a midrange female vocalist with a breathy quality that does rising reverbs into high soprano or chipmunks range. Imagine using a very low and resonant male vocal with a falling reverb! Take your big pedal harp with me singing F1-A1-G1-B0-C#1 and a subharmonic reverb in F0-A0-G0-B-1-C#0!!! I think this would sound awesome! What do you think?
Hey! I love how you reamped the Habit to process a vocal sample. I'm wondering if you could explain what gear you're using to do this? I've been looking into reamping things I've made in the box with my pedals, but I haven't found too many helpful videos. Thanks!
oh NO!!! I accidentally uploaded the audio of my RINGTONE instead of the pedal!!!! 😂 I am also very appreciative of how inventive it is!!! Maybe it will help pave way for a future pedal invention that resonates with you more!!! After the JHS packrat, I couldn’t see a need for any new RATs in my life hahaha
Nice - seems like a similar concept to Mimeophon but for guitar people. A shame it's not stereo as that could make it a bit of a contendor in the synth space. The vocal demo was incredible
This is an excellent demo. It also confirms for me that I have absolutely no use for this pedal. Someone else can have the one I otherwise might have bought 😉
Hey Dave!! Thanks so much :) I don’t mind at all!! It’s from El Garatge! They make some cool stuff thats really useful for Chase Bliss pedals in particular! elgaratge.com/product/expression-knob/
