That 1.5x redemption value when redeeming through Chase's travel portal with the CSR is honestly really underrated. For those that travel domestically in economy, being able to use that perk with no blackout dates or anything like that is huge. I expect I'll add the CSR when I'm eligible for another Sapphire bonus... hopefully they're offering more at that point! Great video Matt!
Completely agree with you there Spencer! So much talk is made about those super aspirational high redemption value trips, but the reality is, for most people it's going to be more feasible to use points to book travel like domestic economy travel. Thanks so much for watching!
@@iGimmie Congratulations! If anything, you know it'll give you positive value in the first year of having it because of the welcome bonus, so just make sure you'll get positive value after that as well!
With Amex making it harder to use their lounges and Chase building lounges, I can see this card being more relevant in 2-3 years. Taking some customers away from the platinum
Man Chase really needs to step their game up with the csr the field has gotten way too competitive for them to be in a holding pattern with their top product….
The CSR has always been a card that I've been on the fence with. I've heard people loving this card and getting great value from it. However I also hear a lot of people talking about how it feels like it's missing something. I could see the appeal but I still want Chase to give us just a little more from this card.
I travel often with my family and the CSR has the best travel insurance out there in paper, not sure when you have to use it they will be there for you. I know Amex has top of the line customer service. The other point, I have to pay for guests for the centuriun lounge for my kids, with CSR I will would have access to those lounge restaurant no problem. My plan is to get the CSP elevated bonus then product change to CSR now that I had my CSR for 48 months. Good review of the card
It’s funny how this card goes under the radar somehow, I never really hear many people talking about. I liked the full list, and I like the b-roll of your 6’9 self walking through the airport ha. That Santorini hotel looks amazing!!! Nice Matt, and love the thumbnail!
My wife just got the Sapphire Preferred. We like it so far and I'm not exactly sure I would want to try out the Reserve since I have the AMEX Platinum. Definitely something to think about though
We’ve had the CSR for several years now and we’re kinda hoping for a refresh because it has gotten kinda stale and the value proposition has declined, especially because we’re Amex loyalists for most of our spending. We banked so many points during the Pandemic ordering food delivery and takeout… but 4x on groceries and restaurants on the Amex Gold is tough to beat.
Yeah completely agree with you! The AMEX Gold is really tough to beat when it comes to those stellar 4x multipliers. Plus, the CSR doesn't do enough to differentiate from the CSP that I agree, a refresh is necessary. Thanks for watching!
I always debate between the CSR and my Bofa PR Elite, but you make some great points about the CSR! The CSP is just a better value so until the CSR gets revamped it won’t see much action, especially with all the new premium cards on the market today! Great video Matt!
Completely agree! Hopefully all the heated competition will finally prompt Chase to make a change and revamp the CSR. Thanks for the support as always Stan!
Question about the CSR $300 travel statement credit. Do you know if you add funds to your Uber account (Uber Cash) will this trigger the travel statement credit?
The doordash and instacart perks are what ruin this card. Is this a travel card or a food card? I have a Gold card already, those perks don't help me travel. Chase needs a revamp soon, this card is so close to being amazing.
Great video. Funny this drops on a day where I get an offer for the CSR in the mail. It’s not the card for me, but I will be joining the Chase ecosystem….soon
Question: the Travel Credit just means ANY travel, that means I could spend on a hotel stay through the Hotel, get the Credit, and then use the Portal for 10x on a Rental?
@@MattClausen Correct! The travel credit on the CSR for $300 can be for ANY travel! But then yes, you could capitalize on the Portal for those high travel multipliers when paying in cash. Thanks again for watching Matt!
For the welcome bonus. Do the purchases need to be posted or just purchased in pending status by the three month window? I have a couple of purchases that are pending and I am three days until the date I need to spend X amount to get the welcome bonus.
Hey Danny, great question! Unfortunately, the purchases will need to be posted to your statement in order to count toward the spend requirement. Hoping they get posted for you in the next couple days 🙏🏽
Hard pull… but there is a pre approval tool that is soft pull I was not pre approved but I applied in branch with a Chase Private Banking rep and was instantly approved with a strangely astronomical opening limit. Chase is odd like that.
