This week’s film breakdown analyzes Washington Redskins’ defensive end Chase Young and his career at Ohio State. Young was just drafted with the 2nd overall pick and has the potential to be a perennial all pro talent. He has been hyped as a generational player, and one of the best pass rushers we’ve seen in years, but when digging a little deeper, there are some areas of his game that need to improve. This episode uses the all-22 coaches film to analyze Chase Young as an NFL Draft defensive end prospect.

@treygregory7929
@treygregory7929 4 года назад
Elia Daniel Well even the very best pass rushers don’t get there every time. If you average a sack a game you’re probably on your way to an All-Pro season (there’s a little more to it). A big part of being an edge rusher is pressure in general. A guy like Chase, or Nick, helps their team by forcing the QB to throw the ball before he really wants to. The ball comes out so fast that they can’t possibly get home every time. Another big part is setting the tackles up. You’ll probably notice with any edge rusher that they seem to almost disappear for stretches of the game. They’re still setting the edge, still getting some pressure, but not getting real close to sacks. They all talk about this. They’re trying to lull the tackle into a false sense of security. Think that the edge rusher only has one or two moves. Then on a big third down they start the same, the tackle reacts the same, but the edge rusher pulls out a new move and gets home.

@rudysal1429 4 года назад
@@zayontoppp98 Thats bull, I'm not disagreeing with the fact that OL hold all the time and it is okay as long as you do it inside the pads but the superbowl was a complete shitttstorm by the refs not doing their job at all. They basically allowed the OL to hold beyond the rules and gave a clear and massive advantage to the offense. If the refs had at least called 2 blatant holds to at least pretend like they were enforcing the rules, the OL would have been thinking more about not holding beyond a reasonable point. They didn't and the OL was basically mugging the DL.

@@colekennedy-gooch6861 I'm not saying that it doesn't happen in every game pretty often but to say that the OL of the chiefs was not blatantly holding on almost every play is beyond the realm of reality. They were past the normal amount of holds that generally happens and aren't called in a game. It was lopsided though and made it impossible for the defense to play a fair game. The refs are responsible for calling a decent game and they failed on all points. You know one of the refs was one of the same refs from the Saints Rams game the year before where the DB should have been called for PI right....

I think it was fair. He said Young has a higher ceiling but also a lower floor than Bosa. Elite prospects are “can’t miss” future All-Pro players, and if Young doesn’t improve his techniques, he could end up a pass rush specialist. This Video Made me realize Chase Young is more elite than previously stated. You are trying to nitpick plays in which he still was able to impact the play in sacks and hits the QB, where as Bosa merely ran out of his rush lanes giving Mahomes room to run for the first down and throw one to Kelce unaffected. If the Opposition can’t stop it, continue on until they do.

Chase is not going to be a 1 trick pony he's not going to sit on a swipe move for the rest of his life and never develop anything else. 6:33 Come on, man! Really? You're gonna explain how Eric Fisher held off Bosa on this play with the proper technique? Yes, Fisher starts off fine but then Bosa beats him to the outside and forces Fisher to come up under the right side of Bosa's shoulder pad, hold onto it, and drive Bosa farther to the outside. The only way this isn't a sack is because of the missed hold...something K.C. got away with on multiple plays. K.C. was the MOST flagged offensive line in the NFL last season and they didn't get called once for this the ENTIRE game.

Good analysis, and one I agree with. If a guy is the second coming, he needs to be a polished AND athletic monster, ala Aaron Donald. He had that crazy athleticism at Pitt, AND the moves to go with it.. I don't see that polish from Young (yet). The confusing thing is, Young had no issue bullying guys and holding his ground in the run game. He would not let tackles move him, he would sink his hips and bury his head into the tackle's chest and made a bunch of stops for loss or no gain in the run game, even vs double teams. Hopefully JDR can coach him in some hand usage for season 2.

Skins fan here. I love that we took Young, but I have a thought here. The guy LOVES making plays in the backfield. Bull-rushing could result in a pocket collapse but not necessarily a play he makes by himself. I think it's something he'll learn to improve on in the NFL because he'll have a great new D Coordinator and will be with one of the most talented line in the league. He'll come around on that. As a Redskins fan, I hate to admit this, but I see Bosa being better than Young for some years . I say that not because of abilities, but because of one major factor. That factor the Redskins traded, in Trent William's. Truthfully, I wanted William's to stay because Young would've gone against him everyday at practice, forcing him to get better. Not many team have a pro bowl/ all pro, and potential HOF left tackle to go against their pass rushers. Bosa will have that now for at least 5 more years.
