CHASING ANNOYING DRIVETRAIN NOISE | K20 Turbo EF Sedan

The noise is from the transmission. It is the mainshaft (input shaft) case bearing. It’s the first bearing to go in on a rebuild. A total disassembly of the gear box will be needed. Some trash went through it when you blew it up in “Mexico” the noise will progressively worsen the more you drive it.

Trick of the trade on pin pointing noise is go to your local CVS,Walgreens or any pharmacy and spend a few bucks on a stethoscope. You can put it on the bell housing and really pin point if it's actually comming from that. Also works great on finding out which pulleys make noise...

I just had the same issue. I was chasing a vibration and noise. I found the CV axle had a great amount of play just like what I am hearing when you shake your CV axle. I changed the axle and it solved my problem, A/T transmission shifts smoother from a standstill.

If there is any play in that half-shaft bearing, and the outer axles are at all out of balance, it could be just kinda rocking back and forth in the small window of room it has to do so.

Im doubling down on the half shaft bearing lol. Those bearings do some weird stuff. I was chasing a suspension knock over bumps at low speeds for the longest time. Notice "black oil" coming from the bearing when i was doing an oil change. Swapped out thebhalf shaft, havent heard the knock since

clutch chatter it's normal very common on srt4s with aftermarket clutches

That noise I heard sounds like transmission bearings honestly

Put the go pro on the car in front and back might be able to diagnose the problem that way

I'd say you found that noise. Change that axle baring and see what's up.

Adjustable suspension may let you align the axles so then they can silence them self

If its not the Half shaft its defo a wheel bearing, its going up with vehicle speed and not engine revs.

It’s rotating with wheel speed not engine or trans speed

Honestly I would say the issue could be: 1. Intermediate Shaft 2. Wheel Bearing I had a Wheel Bearing go out and it sounded like a Plane was taking off when i drove over 20mph. Trans is fine, the noise continued when in neutral so it has to be those two options.

use common sense....your input shaft bearing failed...probably wallowed out a bit the bearing races causing the balls to bunch up on one side and offsetting your input shaft witch quickly ate up ONE side of your pilot bushing because of the off center input shaft... Harden steel is why you wouldn't get metal flakes in the oil because, its harden steel unlike your main or connecting rod bearings...the reason you probably didn't hear nothing bench testing the tranny is because its not under load pulling all that weight its just free spinning... don't use guess work, follow the evidence like a detective would...the ate up pilot bushing is your smoking gun for at least your input shaft bearing on the bell housing side... pilot bushing= SMOKING GUN.................they get normal wear and tear but not like that unless you have bad bearings in the tranny.... you can thank me later ^_^
