Chasing DX Icom 7000 Band Scope 

Here we are chasing DX on the Icom 7000 using the simple band scope.
Station: Icom 7000, Hy-Gain TH-2MK3 at 25ft. beaming SE, 50 watts, Heil BM-10.
Recently while working the SDQP I was playing around with the simple band scope. I never used it before because I heard it was poor and didn't work good enough.To my surprise I found it worked good enough for me.
Signals are few and far between on 10 Meters so instead of blindly tuning I found that with the band scope I could actually see signals and tune to them. I set the step for 250 kHz (I found that 50 kHz works better on a busy band) and used the fixed mode. If I'm listening to a station I can use slow speed on the band scope and copy that station fine while looking for peaks on the scope. At high speed the audio is not intelligible.
Quick entry ➥ Hold down [up(band)] for 1 second to turn the simple band scope ON.
