k i learnt in the army for breaking a bead is to drive onto the tire, or lower the vehicle into it. in this case with such rust i think i would go with a ramp and your tow vehicle. drive over in, then turn and repeat until it all pops down.

First is best to the two of you on baby! Not sure I would of bit that one on film.. falling off of the jackstand is a rookie move and you know it so you whipped yourself the most but the keyboard engineers will trash ya for being honest. Taking the tires off of those rims is pure hell and not sure I would of done that much pounding for love or money. Your not a pretty face youngen..... you get high scores from me for the endurance of this hard to please old tractor. I've seen you tackle some tuff jobs and get it worked out... your going to wind up being a dang good mech and can be proud of your talents as they gain in time.

Older tire machines are cheap on FB if you really wanted one. I have an old coats 10/10 in my shop and my friends love using it for auto and truck tires. Of course it can only do much but at 65 years young and disabled with severe pain issues I couldn't get by w/o it. I wish I could help rebuild one of your many engines as I love learning new stuff, even at my age etc. Of course I live too far away and that sucks. I'm very mechanically inclined. Good job catching this issue before it got worse.

Whenever trying to dismount or mount a tractor tire. Use gasoline on the bead. It softens it up and lubes it. Makes it 10000% easier. But it just doesn’t last too long due to it evaporating.

I have a 861D my dad bought new my power steering shaft seal is leaking.I saw you did yours, where did you get the seals an does the seal go from outside in or do you have to take the pump apart
@dieseJL
@dieseJL 9 месяцев назад
You have to take the shaft out of the front of the pump if you have the sleeve pump like I do. There’s a snap ring after you take the pulley off holding the bearing in then the seal is behind that.

If no ridge at the top of the cylinders, I’d give the cylinders a light hone to restore the crosshatch, and as long as the piston skirts look good, I’d just re ring it, turn the crank and new bearings.
@amwesterlin1
@amwesterlin1 Год назад
make sure you have the injectors and the injection pump checked or rebuilt before running this engine. You spent the time and money for the rebuild, don't let the remaining old parts be an unknown that could potentially destroy what you have rebuilt.
@jimmotormedic

You took the words right out of my mouth. I've seen that many times. Guy skimps out on the fuel system and the machine never starts or runs good. And in no time he has a screwed up engine again.

Yeah luckily I’ve already done a DB2 pump and have the injector tester. I definitely will go through it!

I noticed when tearing down the engine it didn't have the internal balancer in it.these motors didn't start out with them from ford but they quickly started putting them in.without it they will vibrate themselves apart
@dieseJL

This was one of the tractors without a balancer. I cannot find any info on what is needed to add. If you know how to or what parts I need please point me in the right direction!!!

Nice work on tearing down you're pretty gung ho dude! If it was me I wouldve just pulled the engine out an just focus on that an putting all my energy on the engine so I can do a good rebuild job. It's amazing how much you forget if you tear apart a lot of stuff at the same time. Once engine done then move on to next thing. That's just me everybody is different.

Ok I must confess I’m McCormik, Farmall, IHC true and blue BUT I have ran the 8N, 9N and Fordson and I declare them as JUNK. I don’t care what anyone says because I’ve seen them broke, blown apart at low hours, and worse. Just poor quality and short term longevity.

I have my grandpa’s old 64 Ford 4000 backhoe (basically an 800 series) with the gas motor. As far as I know, the engine has never been apart. Just had a 12v conversion and electronic ignition swap. It sits for months at a time, but always starts and runs like a champ. I got no complaints…..
