Our day trip to see Mount Fuji was one of our most memorable experiences in Japan.
A lot of Mount Fuji tours online were quite expensive so our group contacted a close friend of us who lives in Japan for a decade rented his car and did a small road trip. This costed us about $150 (¥12000) for the day. I wholeheartedly recommend renting a car and embarking on your own day trip to witness the marvels of Mount Fuji. For me, it was an experience that altered my brain chemistry and one of my most treasured memories of Japan.
We stopped at a few spots on the way, first up was Arakurayama Sengen Park, to see the famous Chureito Pagoda, then we headed to Lake Kawaghuchiko to Oishi Park to Oshino and Gontemba outlets respectively.
The sight was nothing short of magical, etching a lasting image in our minds. My wife and friends were a big fan of Mount Fuji before, and after this day trip, we can say we’re a fantastically huge fan of Fuji San. Once we saw how mesmerising it looked in real life we can say with certainty that understand why so many people can become a little obsessed with it.
