I quite agree with you. River delta makes a wonderful wild life. Please bring back the more forest in river water catchment areas and either sade of river banks. Plant much as possible rock friendly trees and plants. Encourage farmers to grow crops that require less quantity of water. Please do a another video on this life line thank

You images of our beloved West are truly beautiful. I’m from the east coast, about ten minutes from the beach, and I have never been to the Grand Canyon or anywhere out there. I’m planning a trip now though after this documentary.

THE AGRICULTURAL LOBBY MUST BE CRUSHED. In California, farms use 80% of Colorado River water, yet account for only 2% of the state's economic output, including the alfalfa & almonds they export to China. Yet they are so powerful that politicians constantly bend over for them. Every day they're asking for new dams & diversions to be built with taxpayer money. They were the only group exempt from drought cutbacks. They've illegally drawn so much groundwater that many sections of land have collapsed. This industry doesn't give a damn about the environment, just their own profits.

Question is how do we find an appropriate balance to avoid starving to death? We need crops and farms need water. Until a new method or source of water is discovered, they will have to use ground water and rivers to irrigate.

Not your everyday farmers people. He's talking about 1 family, 1 business, who has cunningly via loophole and poor judgment by others, cornered the water market. Blame city folk or small time family farmers for the shortage all you want but the water is being stolen and used to profit millions... I'm sorry, billions of dollars all the while regular families and whole towns literally live without being able to flush their toilets. Time you learn something before running your mouth

Randell Schimdt CALI? Where are you from? I tell you..... Not born here as I was. If you think that we get most of the water from that river, think again. The farmers get most of the water from the Sacramento, Feather, American, and the Russian. Corrupt water officials and Mollholand, in a dry area of my state, decided that we did not need to eat, but we did need to drink and water every thing in site, not thinking about it being able to sustain the growing need for food and the rest of the state. Then San Francisco did the same to the Hetch hechie Valley and its screwed up. I tell everyone that you can not take mass away from any thing and think you can replace it. Then are first "Wannabe" gov. Brown. Started stealing from the northern rivers and now the power we make goes to San Francisco, and we have less water. Now the "fucktard of a Wannabe gov. Of the first gov. Says before I leave office with A shitload more of the peoples money, I am making them pay more taxes that will not be used for the project, but go into the general fund, and make sure they pay for new pipes to carry more water south even though a roof to stop evaporation is best. No breakage due to earthquakes since it was built. But YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID., " SO READ THE" HISTORY OF THEFTS AND LIES CALLED THE CALIFORNIA WATER DEPARTMENT" OR YOU ARE JUST AS IGNORANT AS..... WELL YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!!.

Just a few years ago, I explored the Rocky Mountain range and all the natural hot springs along various rivers- including Radium hot springs just outside Kremmlimg (and Hot Sulphur is along the Colorado River in a marshy area. The Rockies and the Continental Divide...which i explored all down through Wyoming...are beautiful

To quote a person below---I alternate between anger and despair at our willingness to let oil at the table with farmers bargaining for oil---the winner will always be oil! --at our failure to act on climate change when we can see the snowpack at 1/10th and melt early-----at our failed vision of a desert oasis-----at our disregard for other species-----at our continued disregard and failure to listen to those who truly own this country, the Native Americans. This should be required watching at every school.

+Kevin Kiesel Look into the islands of plastic trash in our oceans and how we can keep the plastic from entering our oceans. It causes much damage. The coastal cities in southern CA are sooo dirty!! Thanks for all the efforts. Great story. It's sooo sad and painful to see the 6 million years old Colorado river to become hurt like this in just one hundred years. There are many reasons behind and these are some that I can think of: growing population, livestock raising (think about this: 1 pound of beef needs about 20 pounds of grains), oasis dream city Las Vegas (suck too much energy and resources) and over planting. The reasons behind are desires and greed. Human takes everything from the earth as granted and when we are destroying the river, the environment, the earth, we are on the brink of death too. Without the river, how would people live?

came here expecting to see a great documentary, but this lecture is even better then I could wish for, what a detailed information, great photography and good informative story. More people should see this and also part II and realize how sacred our rivers / waterways are globally.

The Grand Canyon does not begin just south of Glen Canyon Dam, it begins at the confluence of the Little Colorado River which is almost 100 miles to the South

June 2023: I´m watching this video as far as Buenos Aires, Argentina. It´s not just very informative, but very touching as well. We had several years with serious drought that caused a billonaire loss for the country. The day the people will go for persons like McBride, instead of Trump or Putin, the world will improve... I hope by then it's not too late...

. I think we should have a Snow Drive...like a toy drive. All neighbouring states with exess snow....including Alaska and Canada if they want and start trucking in snow and dumping it into to the head waters of the Colorado river in the rockies. Snow was already going to be dumped there anyways naturally as snow is freash water. Or organize a collection of snow for redistribution that falls in the roockies and push/move/truck towards the Colorado river head waters. Theres nothing more to do as nature takes over with melt and flow

TheSupercat91/Justop2013 Don't eat alot of meat if at all. 1pound of red meat wastes over 20,000lbs of water not to mention over 11 pounds of plants, and fuel and also emits huge warm trapping gases etc. Eat your plants on season and dont buy too many chips and sodas as that uses up a considerable amount of water. 80% of water goes to farmers and less than 20% to cities. You could bathe every day filling up a 50gal tub for a month and its not nearly enough to match up what 1 pound of red meat wastes.

Great video but as a backcountry skier in Colorado there is no surprise that there would be 3" of snow on Pyramid on Christmas and 9' in June. This is our typical snowpack accumulation pattern. This is why backcountry skiing happens in the spring and it is depressing to see the resorts rush to manufacture white ribbons of death to be open by Christmas. Not a climate change denier, global warming is real, but this flawed example doesn't help.

@@abelflores5976 He did at 9:28. He refers to it as "the grainery" because it contained tools used by the natives to grind grain into flour. He also said that he used spotlights to light the windows and give the effect that it was being lit from the inside.

Just below where the delta ends is the birthing zone for California Grey Whales, much dirtier and polluted than when a natural river fed the head of the Gulf of California.
