The Colorado River is so much more than something we raft and fish in. Millions of people in the western U.S. drink water that comes from the river. Millions more use electricity generated by hydroelectric power plants along the rivers 1,450-mile course. Most of the produce on our table is grown using water from the river and its tributaries. When you think about it, the Colorado River is so much more than just a river, its a lifeline for the southwestern U.S. In the Denver7 special presentation Colorado River: Lifeline of the West, hosts Lisa Hidalgo and Eric Lupher share the story of a river that has shaped the landscape for millions of years but is now having itself reshaped by people trying to harness its power.

Mexican Fisherman used to feed their family's there, until we screwed the Hoover damn back just enough to send water riight up to the Arizona Mexico border, so now Americans wonder why so much defecation mysteriously makes its way down the Tijuana river onto Imperial Beach and points north.

I would appreciate it if they stop sending half the water in the river east.

Thank you for this really interesting story. We visited the Grand Canyon last september (2017) and are still in awe of its beauty. This Colorado River story is worrying. Especially as it has so far not seem to have caught a large exposure on RU-vid. We sincerely hope that the US is spending sufficient time and effort. kind regards from your friends (and water managers) in The Netherlands.

Have noticed corporate farmers are mostly all pot bellied. Not like the family farmers I grew up with in Southern California and the west.
