Hi, fuel pump is special on the ST170. Electric fuel pressure regulator drive the fuel pump. You don't have fuel return to the tank. Check vacuum leak or collapse pipe is a good idea.
Your commitment is insane 😂 I’d of lit a match after the 3rd time of the taking the tank out. Hope you get it sorted soon mate, it definitely wants a drive though! Can you not take it for a short-ish run on the grounds of “legally can drive a car with no MOT to a test station OR place of repair”?
Haha thanks - getting close to it at times 😆 Not enough space to get it out of first gear here however the abs and traction control have re calibrated and the lights have gone out. Good idea for the MOT but I’d have to have it pre booked and actually have to put it through the test. It’s a long way off and I don’t want to take the piss. Also needs insurance & tax at the mo. On the plus side rear suspension is fixed. It was really really silly 😆 Hopefully the misfire will be too!
Thanks for the video! Hope you get it sorted out! I solved my misfire with new plugs, wires and a new coil pack. Changed the PCV valve and hose and rocker cover gasket. Also changed the fuel pump (just the pump, not the whole assembly). It runs much better but... I think mine is still losing fuel pressure so I intend to do the washer mod. Do you by any chance know the washer size you used?
Hi! Thanks - it still had the misfire but now I’m on operation ‘change everything’ so will see in the summer! Nice lot of work done to yours I bet it’s running lovely! Can’t remember the exact size of the washers - I think I got a multipack box from Screwfix so I could try a couple out. They’re one of the basic sizes nothing unusual. Hope it gets sorted thanks for watching 👍
I did check them but they were fine. It was running perfectly before the work and is still on the same plugs. I did wipe the anti seize grease off them though - according to the plug manufacturers it’s a big no no 🫢😆
@@st170restoration could be worth changing them to be sure, but like you say probably turn out to be something dumb 😂 also check your intake flaps still move it might be one is broken /stuck open 👍
Gonna put some fresh ones in before the next start for sure. It’s odd because the ones in there are also basically brand new and it was running perfectly before the work. Gonna be a few months before the next start though 😄
Nope couldn’t work it out before I took it all apart. I was thinking along the lines of something wrong in the evaporative emissions system but I wasn’t sure. It’s in pieces at the moment and I’m going to replace everything I can and hopefully flush out the fault. It may have been caused by the car not being driven for a few months - is yours in regular use?
I had the head off recently and took the valves out - all seemed ok so it’s still a bit of a mystery! I’m thinking the most likely cause was putting in premium fuel and not being able to run it for a few hundred miles to calibrate the engine management. Gonna have fingers crossed on the restart 😅
