Three friends set off on a 400km bikepacking and packraft expedition through the heart of the sacred headwaters in northwestern British Columbia, birthplace of three critical salmon rivers, and home to the Tahltan people. In the wake of the devastating Mount Polley Mine disaster, the team’s goal is to understand what is at stake as a wave of new mines are developed across this remote corner of the province. Their journey offers an exciting and sobering window into this wild landscape as they pedal through vast boreal forest, paddle frigid whitewater, battle monster trout, outrun a grizzly, learn about the Tahltan’s fight to protect their homeland and glimpse inside a massive open pit mine.

Fantastic film. It includes some of our favorite things. Bikes, fishing, mountains and a powerful message of conservation. Well done!

We are living in sad times. This absolutely should not have happened. Too many large corporations have gotten by far too long merely getting their hands slapped. People need to intentionally get involved to save the future of our grandchildren and so on. Thank you for putting this out.

i did a solo packrafting trip here earlier this summer! It was nice to see John (skeptical local) and owner of tatogga lake lodge in the video. I saw so much big game along the Klappan and Spatsizi rivers. There are so many options for packrafting loops in the Sacred Headwaters area and I will definitely be back again. It's the wildest country i've been to.

What an amazing journey! Thank you for bringing such concerns into the light. I've never even heard of the Mt. Polly mine spill till I saw your documentary! I live in southwest Colorado, not far from where the Gold King mine spilled thousands of gallons of toxic mine waste into the river here. I don't know if it will ever be the same. Thank you guys for all your work and I will definitely do my part to voice my opinion to help keep this from happening again! Let's keep the wild, wild!

Great video. FYI there are definitely roadless regions of the US with over 20miles between roads. One example is the River of No Return Wilderness / Gospel Hump Wilderness in Idaho, which is 13000km^2 of roadless terrain.

I'm not an expert on the area (though I'd love to go backpacking), but using the legend on maps for the area it looks like there's always a road withing about 7-10 miles of any point. Km^2 is not equal to Km distance

My great Uncle W.F Libby who invented carbon dating & git the Nobel peace prize for wanted to continue more research into solar& I agree. Now Tesla I free energy and greed has kept us from using it! It's a monopoly that the rich get richer on& the land suffers& pays the price. Changes need to be made for sure. I lived in Again CA it's on a mountain in the Napa County. There was a Creek that I took my toddlers swimming@ & we had really bad rains that month&, went down to do our normal exploring in that area& some one on the top of the mountain had dammed it up for a swimming hole. It broke & washed out the whole ravine the whole ravine&trees where gone. It took out the road in. I was shocked to see the damage it did! That sight is etched in my mind forever. I love that spot. They did fix it... Brought the dozers in. But yes we can do better as a society that's for sure!
