These two have always come across as very genuine to me. Jill Biden continued teaching at a community college-usually 2-3 classes per semester!!- the entire time her husband was VP. She shared a tiny office with multiple other professors. My friend was interning at the White House at the time and said that every time he saw Jill Biden, she had a stack of English papers she was grading - she never pawned anything off onto a TA. You don’t do that for publicity. She even tried to keep who she was quiet by being listed on everything as “Dr. B” Next best part about Biden being elected is finding out what role Pete & Chasten will play in the administration!

True. I get the same vibe from Chasten. When Pete inevitably gets a position in the Biden Administration, I can't imagine Chasten just strolling around DC all day going to luncheons and celebrity photo ops. He'll definitely keep teaching.

Jill Biden or Chasten Buttigieg should be Secretary of Education! Wouldn't it be wholesome to have a teacher to take charge of our education system?

Based on her dissertation's lack of quality, she is simply incompetent. Such an incompetent calling herself "Dr" in the field she demonstrated her incompetency makes her a fool. And a laughingstock in academia.

@@normanbraslow7902 Well gosh, what about "genuine?" And what of "wholesome?" Could she be fooling everybody? My goodness, could people be conned so easily?

This is a special interview. I’ve heard Jill tell the story of how Jill met Joe, but never as intimately. What a great First Lady. So real and down to earth, as well as lovely.💕

So much warmth here. Chasten is very nicely framed (by the camera). The image has a lot of depth. Suggest Pete adopts a similar frame for his Instagram chats.

Haha well said. Though Biden's election is the key to getting Pete & Chasten in the White House one day. Indiana is still a very red state, so the chance Indiana elects Pete to any kind of statewide office or even to congress is essentially zero. So in order to get Pete a good shot at the presidency, he needs to be appointed to a Cabinet position or some other executive office in DC, and that's obviously only going to happen if Biden wins in November. So I guess that means I'm all in for Biden.

Yes!! And I liked that he just said a quick hello and left. Didn’t feel the need to take his wife’s spotlight. I’m ready for a president who’s not desperate for attention. Biden may have flaws, but thankfully grandstanding is not one of them.

this election made me feel good because so many of us were on the same page. yes, many wanted another candidate to be the nominee but still voted for Joe and celebrated when he won. I still remember the joy I felt when he won, it was truly one of the best days my gosh I'll never everrrrr forgot the feeling and the excitement and the celebrations that occurred that day. what's crazy is, it was so gloomy out the entire week but on that Saturday morning the sun was shining so damn bright and it was warm in NYC in the November when its typically cold and the sun was shining so bright. I was in the car with my brother and everybody was blasting music, clapping and honking, it was good vibes all day.

Thank God they won!!! I don't know if he'd be interested, but Chasten as Secretary of Education? SURE AS HELL BEATS BETTY DEVOS!!! Or, at least a real teacher at the table!! I personally don't know any gay couples, but I've ALWAYS believed in equality for all. As a retired criminal law judge (just a small city court, maybe 20,000 people) treating everyone fairly and MAKING SURE that he/she knew that they'd been treated with respect, dignity and fairness was of utmost importance to me personally, (even if the State met its burden of proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt & I found them guilty or a jury returned a guilty verdict) maybe because I grew up in a southern, very patriarchal family where my voice was never heard. Or, maybe because, whenever someone called wanting to speak to the judge, it was an automatic presumtion that the judge was male, whatever the reason; whether, it's because my brother used to say as he was abusing me, tell them, they won't believe you, or because I knew he was right. He's 10 years older than me, our oldest brother is a special needs child, he's 11 years older than me. I wasn't supposed to happen, the "oops" baby, came out with daddy's red hair, got his blue eyes & temper too. But, after my parents died, guess who's taking care of her oldest brother and first best friend? PLUS, fighting lupus along with a recent diagnosis of leukemia. So, the "oops kid" became my parents funniest kid, the one with all these responsibilities as I grew older to watch after my oldest brother, protect him from my 2nd oldest brother, and grew up to be very creative with curse words. But, I was also the first University graduate in our family. My second brother is a Republican local politician and people think he walks on water. I could shout the truth from the rooftops and no one would believe me. My parents never knew what was being done to me or maybe they didn't want to know. Perhaps that's WHY I always wanted the man or woman before me, to KNOW that I had LISTENED to him or her! I didn't care about the color of skin or if religion or sexual orientation somehow made it into the testimony, I cared about the TRUTH & if the State met its burden. The people in my courtroom were innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. They just happened to be accused of minor traffic offenses, assault & battery or minor drug offenses (more serious charges were remanded to a higher court). It's the oath to the Constitution that I took, the same oath that every justice on SCOTUS took but I know some have forgotten. Just, as I know, that the last couple of justices confirmed, definitely do not deserve the honor bestowed upon them because they made their political views WIDELY KNOWN & PUBLIC. Certainly, in their own homes they're free to rant, rave and talk politics as much as the rest of Americans. But, that's done privately, once you begin writing op-eds praising the sitting President, in my humble, small town, retired judge's opinion, you've removed yourself from consideration for such an appointment because you have violated one of the basic, most fundamental principles that guide ALL judges, "you must ALWAYS avoid the appearance of impropriety"! So, when the party of Trump (because the current GOP, is no longer the party of Lincoln) talks or complains about the Democratic party "packing the courts", please be aware that it's impossible to do that because the party of Trump, has already PACKED the courts from SCOTUS to the Federal courts. President Obama didn't leave those seats open intentionally, he was blocked by Mitch McConnell and the Republican held Senate. And, unless the 2 Democratic candidates in Georgia are elected, making the Senate 50-50, balancing it for the first time in a LONG time, President Biden is going to have his work cut out for him, he violated the ULTIMATE unspoken rule, a female VP, so despite those long held friendships & his ability to reach across the aisle in the past, I don't know if those loyalties still apply in the party of Trump. It certainly be an opportunity for discussion, debate and compromise to return to that body of Congress. The Senators could choose to vote for country first instead of party first. However, if McConnell decides to stay the course and put party over country, then the country's first female VP, a Democrat, would be forced to break the tie. And, honestly, I don't know that she'd always vote party lines, she's a former prosecutor and I believe that she'll vote country first. With all that said, the majority of you, if you've made it this far, will think I'm a diehard Democrat and that's not true, I'm undeclared. In my state, we don't have to declare if we're Republican, Democrat or Independent. I've always said that I am independent (small "i") because I have voted for both parties. I CAN unequivocally tell you that I despise Ronald Reagan, I always have! The only thing that "trickles down" is piss and that's what his trickle down economic policies have been doing to the poor people in this country since they began, pissing on poor people. On a personal level, his dramatic cut to the Pell Grant program almost caused me to be unable to finish my degree. I wound up having to take out multiple Federal student loans in order to finish my degree. Back in 1987, I graduated with a bank loan and 3 Guaranteed Federal Student loans. I'd had a work-study loan for one semester, that's where you work a job for the University, no more than 20 hours per week for the minimum wage which was in 1983, $3.35 per hour, we got paid every 2 weeks and immediately upon being given my paycheck in one office, I had to step over to the Bursar's office and sign the entire check over to the University, I received almost $15.00 - $20.00 in change, depending upon how many hours I was able to work a particular week (sometimes multiple exams in one week caused me to be unable to work 20, I had to work at least 15 to make enough to cover my loan payment, I did this IN ADDITION to having an academic scholarship), luckily that loan was for my freshman year only. The Pell Grant program covered everything else except books, my parents had to use their credit card to pay for my books. My sophomore year, I obtained a bank loan with my father as co-signer, that loan and the Pell Grant program paid for my sophomore year (exception of books), I kept my job on campus and made monthly payments to the bank. My junior year is when Reagan's cuts to the Pell Grant program took effect & I was almost unable to return to University. This is when I heard about the Guaranteed Federal Student Loan program. I depended upon this for the remainder of my collegiate life, receiving enough to cover the cost of my books. I also got married at the beginning of my final semester at University. I became a commuter student for the first time and I didn't work on campus my last semester. My then husband was a police officer and we paid my bank loan, which only had 3-4 payments ($136.00) left in it, from his salary. So, in May, 1987, I graduated having re-paid 2 loans during my time in school but the Federal loans, you had to begin repaying within six months of graduation, so my first payment was due in November 1987, at $50.00 per month (8%). I borrowed the least amount I could, I'd figured out the Pell Grant amount I could expect, so I believe I owed
