Cory Doctorow is one of the smartest people I have ever read - his books are informative and entertaining at the same time. I think he also did some work for the United Nations about internet security or something. Have a great day folks. Aloha.

I'm watching all of Your shows David and Thank You! You are among the VERY FEW on RU-vid that I enjoy getting TRUTHFUL news from. Otherwise, with FauxFOX and the like, they are, as their Attorneys point out during law suits; "FOX is an entertainment station." You know the saying: I listen to comedians (You are not though, but You can be hilarious sometimes) for my News and I listen to "the news" for my comedy.

Oh, he was, especially during the beginning of personal home computers straight on thru to the internet's beginning. He was on radio and tv a lot back then, and wrote columns & books. I have read and enjoyed everything he has written, even when I don't agree with him. Cheers

I adore ChatGPT. Harvard Law School [Edit Im not referring to students] is using it and it's freeing them up to do research they wouldn't otherwise have time for!
@matthewjohns1758

I would think every major law firm would want to use it along with every hospital. You will still have people reading the outcomes and making decisions with both the written material and the individuals knowledge and ability to do even more research if needed.

What's impressive is how human Zuckerberg looks. If we're gonna have bots that we spend money on they should look as human as he does. We'll need to ofcourse work on how they act as nobody wants another Zuckerberg. 😂

It's not just Unilever and P&G. I just looked up Frito Lay because I was eating Cheetos. The parent company is Pepsico and that's where it ends. Now I'm wondering just how inaccurate saying those 2 own most of what's on the shelves is. Come on, man. Don't put BS out there.

"I dont like calling them artifical intelligence because they are neither articial nor intelligent" I hate when people say this. First time i heard someone say it isnt "artificial" though, usually people only focus on the "Intelligence" part of AI. I checked 3 different dictionaries for "artifical". They all define it as "human made". I would like to claim that AI is human made, and therefor artifical. "intelligence", is harder to define and there is a larger difference in the definition between dicationaries than for "artificial". But they all seem to have something about obtaining knowledge and using that knowledge (usually to solve problems). Now Cory also have a problem with saying these algorithms "learn" and thus would probably also have a problem with saying that they "obtain knowledge". So now it becomes a few levels deeper on definitions. We need to define the words in the definition of the words that we are interested in. At some point we must agree that language is a social construct and defintions of words change with time, place and context. We have socially agree to call these algorithms "AI" and i see no reason for us to stop doing so because some people include "sentience"/"sapiens"/"consiousness" into the defintion of "knowledge"/"learning". I do not think of "knowledge" in that way, nor do the computer scientists developing these systems. Lets just agree to keep calling it AI. Thats what we have called it for decades. Calling it AI is only a problem for people who have rigid views on the definition of "intelligence". Btw, intelligence in some context is just defined SIMPLY as "information" (for example: "military intelligence")

@@Smart-Alex I'm 72, work full time in IT. AI is an existential threat to our future. Look around at the state of the art in AI publicly available. Then understand that you are seeing publically at least a generation of AI behind what actually exists.
