Re-uploaded the video in case people wonder. I added the missing section about ChatGPT claiming Celebrimbor did create the One Ring with the fitting shadow of Mordor footage 😅 So here the updated version. I hope you like this. I have more questions from that session recorded and also some questions left. Would love to put them as well into a video. Let me know if you want to see more of it 😄 I found it quite funny. I asked it to give me a biography of Gandalf. It had two major errors. 1) It did not realize that the Maiar were also Ainur and it said the Maiar were created by the Valar. 2) It said Gandalf's battle with Durin's Bane happened after the events of LOTR. There were a couple of other things that I'd say were incomplete. I was not impressed. After watching this video, I am even less impressed.

I really enjoy people on RU-vid testing ChatGPTs abilities in all kinds of fields, but I think that asking it questions on Tolkiens Legendarium is certainly a bigger challenge. Even if there are some mistakes in the answers (which it insists on, which seems more like human thing to do to me), this is still quite impressive. I would be very interested what it has to say about more obscure details or questions concerning the canon. Or if you could even make it ask questions to you...

Was "Kuiviénen" one of the first styles of writing? I remember it with a "C".

Yes, it is usually written with a C, well observed. I also double-checked the book here and in this iteration Tolkien wrote it Kuiviénen instead of Cuiviénen as we know it. I would need to look deeper into this. Can't tell you right now when it changed, but the text I quotes was from the Annals of Aman from around ~1951 after LotR was finished writing and he worked on the Appendices.

I can see this being an effective tool to help us get outlines and data from Tolkien, or any other databases, quickly and neatly served as we need them. As a creative person it is helpful to have such a tool at my disposal.
