On May 13, OpenAI during its Spring Update announced that it would be releasing a desktop ChatGPT app for the Mac in the "coming weeks," and said that ahead of a wider launch it had started rolling out the app to some ChatGPT Plus subscribers.

Someone forgot to mention the following: ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users get early access to the new macOS desktop app via the ChatGPT account menu(opens in a new window). The macOS desktop app will be more broadly available in the coming weeks with Windows coming later this year

5 Reasons to NOT download it yet. (Fixed in latest update) 1) Copy-paste hotkeys do not work. (FIXED) 2) Generated images aren't possible to open. (FIXED) 3) While GPT is typing, it uses 100% of the CPU, freezing the entire app, which makes it impossible to copy text while it is typing. (FIXED) 4) While it is lagging, the stop button leads to opening voice mode. (FIXED) 5) You can't zoom in or out. (FIXED)

I accessed ChatGPT on the browser as regular and a popup suggested me to download the Mac app, maybe it's a matter of time until it releases for everyone (I'm a plus user btw)

The AI not being able to tell the difference between a iPhone 13, 14, and 15 pro I think is completely reasonable considering the ONLY difference is a SLIGHTLY larger camera bump from model to model.

You can not use it if you have a non-chip Mac. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro, and it won't work. Rumor has it that if you own an Intel, you are screwed.

For MacOS you must have Apple Silicon. But the iPad and iPhone versions are good too. btw, it's on their website, under your profile after you log in.

I agree. I really hope Apple won’t be a jerk with macOS 15 compatibility as there are still a lot of people using Intel-based Mac computers. I would expect some AI features, at least those in the cloud since they can’t run all, if not all, local AI features.

When it is working, it may identify objects, plants, insects, flowers, animals, etc. And, it may be able to process a photo of text, to copy, read, summarize, or translate. I love the translation capability, which I have in a different App to translate Chinese, Arabic, French, Spanish, German etc.

Microsoft has caught them on the hop. My intelligence from an insider is that they were blindsided by the AI on laptops and are playing catch up - cancelling the Apple Car diversion etc. Apparently Tim Cook has been screaming at people and it is a cluster f_ck of confusion. Ahh the mad rush to convince people they need AI in their lives. Let’s put AI in everything even if it makes no sense. I need an AI coffee maker because I’m just that damn lazy! The new hip lazy ass thing is to have AI create all your RU-vid content for you. It’s the worst listening to some fake voice mispronounce word after word.
