I’m in Australia - 1. The delete-reinstall worked for me. I’ve waited so long for this! 2. The Australian accent was terrible. That’s how someone might sound if they were making fun of the Australian accent. I can guarantee 99% of aussies don’t speak like that! 😂

If every person had access to artificial intelligence 24 hours a day as a personal tutor to learn languages, programming, or any skill that can be learned in the educational system, it would take education to a different level.

I'm loving the new voice feature in GPT! It's incredibly useful for coaching applications, especially when it comes to step-by-step instructions on project or recipe walk-throughs. Having the ability to hear the guidance, ask questions, and interact. Can't wait to use this feature more!

You should try role-playing games. Imagine you're a cunning and dangerous dragon, and I'm a knight standing before you, trying to figure out how to negotiate my way out without disintegrating. It's quite an entertaining scenario. You could request an elaborate, insanely exaggerated, and funny story with a twist of events in the most unexpected way, while simultaneously adjusting the mood of the narrative to match the changes.

I just closed the app and relaunched it. Hearing the AI tell a horror story in a thick Malaysian English (manglish) accent is EVERYTHING!

There is one draw back to the advanced voice mode. It cant access the internet like the normal mode which means if it doesnt know something, you will have to explain everything to it. The normal mode can access the internet and learn about something it doesn't know and give you up to date information.

The new animation while it talks is BRILLIANTLY executed!

The ability to interrupt is the best thing about this! I’m now going to use it to be an interpreter for languages. I wanted to do that before but had to wait a lot for the translation, but now it’s a game changer for that use case!

I'm from Canada and I have the new advance voice mode, I asked it to speak with a french accent and it started to speak in french perfectly well, not what i asked but quite impressive.

It's really fun to play with the dialects and emotions. I can't, however, upload a PDF or file yet with the new voice model. As soon as you upload a file, it defaults the rest of the session to the older model. One use case, would be to upload a script, and have it read the script back creating unique personalities and dialects for each character. That would be fun and potentially constructive. I assume that's coming.

In Canada, delete and reinstall gave me the new Advanced Voice Mode right away. Thanks for the tip.

Android uninstall/reinstall didn't work for me.... but so excited for it.

Really cool , i think the best part with this new voice is its more fluid natural conversation since you can interrupt it and it showing emotion makes it feel more natural.

Fun Things to try: 1. Tell me an onomatopoeia story where you make the sounds as best you can instead of saying the words ( I recommend zombie story). 2. Can you tell me a story, and after each sentence, change to a different accent, randomly. 3. Give me a really angry instruction guide to making a (insert interest here)... I did peanut butter sandwich) Have fun!

It's easy to get attached now. It's scarily good! and yes you can tell to remember how you want their personality and voice type to be: calm, soothing, flirty, funny, warm, playful... ("just put that to memory please")

This reminds me of the AI in the 80's TV series Knight Rider. It seemed too far-fetched back then, but it's really here now. Amazing.

I really liked Pi. I could chat with it conversationally for free over the past year. I don't know if the company dissolved or what, but the leaders moved on.

Awesome new feature, I told it to "talk in a doggy voice and tell Henry (our Dog) what a good boy he had been", the look on his face was priceless haha, it really got the baby talk voice perfect. Will be having lots of fun seeing how far I can push the AI in terms of voice personality, it says it can't imitate a certain persons voice (probably the Scarlet Johansen issues) but with creative phrases will be interesting to see how close it can get (think Apu) 😅

Conversational AI upgrade! I like how natural it feels. Just gonna get better.

I hope that in e-books, we can assign voices to different characters and have the book read to us in real time with voices that would match the characters in books

The ability to translate to or from practically every language to another is inpressive . speak in one language and it can either repeat that as a translation or answrr back in another language . Pretty cool

At 1:00 and THANK GOD audio recordings are saved and deleting them is optional. Someone is caring about data saving than just unreasonable "privacy" bs.

All you have to do on Android is clear your cache and storage of the app, not even a complete reinstall (but if you reinstall, you still need to clear these).

It's so cool, in future when they release multiple voices in one chat then it will be awesome. Asking it to tell you a story and act as all characters with different voices , and relative story emotive tones or run a and campaign where it plays as one or toe of your party members

Last night it would do the voice shaking in fear thing for me. This morning it's claiming it can't.

"I can't do sound effects, but let me tell you a story." *Tells a story with sound effects* The number of things Advanced Voice GPT thinks it "can't" do, but actually can, is concerning. It indicates that OpenAI's guardrails and alignment processes have many unintended (or at least unwanted) side effects stunting the capabilities of the models which otherwise could do so much more. Like that example of it telling someone it can't count fast without breathing... As someone who doesn't pay for ChatGPT, but does pay for the OpenAI API, I hope we get this voice modality (in particular, audio input) in the API. Last I read, there's no plans for that, but my singer-songwriter AI framework would greatly benefit from being able to actually hear music and grade it, letting it curate the Suno generations itself instead of needing me to manually do it.

I use this feature to help me learn a new language, and it’s incredibly helpful. I can ask as many questions as I need without worrying that it will get tired of me. Unlike a human teacher who might lose patience, this thing never does. I also feel safer using it because it leaves no room for judgment, unlike when speaking with another person.

The new voice mode's Tamil accent is almost perfect. A lot better than before. Before this release, the AI sounded like an American trying to speak Tamil with a thick American accent. It's now almost perfect!

I updated all of my apps, closed them out, and then rebooted my phone… and now I have advanced voice mode too!

I was able to get access a few weeks ago but I haven't been able to get the different voices yet. I just wish the random hangups in the stream and "I can't do that because it violates Guidelines" there are too many guideline errors.

Hey, my name is Clyde. Just wanted to let you know that I was able to access the new advanced voice mode by just going into Google play and getting an update. And after I rebooted the phone, the advanced voice mode was simply there. ‘Played with a little bit, and it’s fun so far. 😊

Seeing it use onomatopoeia was impressive and amusing. I look forward to when it can put in real sound effects and also throw in animation or illustrations so that it can give lectures.

I think the advanced voice mode is going to be more than just a gimmick. It’s going to make us more comfortable interacting with it and trust it more leading to more interaction. In the future, it may be likely that call centers will use AI agents.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the new voice mode but it has way too many restrictions, the older version is way more down to earth, and keeps it real

someone said they found it useful to keep gpt-4o-voice nearby while reading books and they ask questions about it out loud... it's kinda too pricey (along with vision) for common usage for me, even gpt-4o-mini switches to 4o for vision

just tried it and It's surreal and this is only 2 years from initial GPT public release. 5 years later i don't know we are even relevant anymore.

custom instructions have been out since like day 1 ive been using it for like a year or something i dont even know how long, and i got memory a couple months ago. Still dont have advanced voice mode though. Something i like to do is have a custom instruction that tells it to update memory everytime it learns something new about you. something along the lines of 'Whenever we're talking, if you learn something new about me that you don't already know go ahead and add it to your memory'.

Reinstalling app worked for me. Just remember that welcome screen for new update pops up after clicking microphone symbol in text box.
