Just from the basic prompt that i've played around with i'm really excited about it's future uses in practice. Time is at a premium and it saves me time. It's already saved me time with summarizing dense blocks of provisions to be more understandable for clients and it's also helped me with general research. A lot of people are concerned about being replaced, but I view it as a great augmentation tool that's going to make attorneys better.

Great video. I love the plugin. However, the workflow through a google sheet was briliant. I believe it is possible to have near perfect efficiency with zero cost. I went from a $50k monthly overhead to overhead that is just north of $1,500 thru only a few, now universal apps. With APIs coming out daily from openAI, it is exciting to see the possible future come into a bit of focus.

Just picked up a criminal defense attorney as a client and so far the only ways I have thought of to implement AI are a sales and qualifying bot for leads generated through forms. Also want to build a questionnaire that will analyze their case and provide a free report. Besides that I am using it internally for his seo. Any thing else you'd recommend? He's pretty old school and I don't see him learning chat gptv to use daily

I cant since it connect to our paid API key. But the basic approach is to type the formula "=GTP(cell range you want it to consider)" so =GPT(A1:B5,A7:B8) into the cell that you want it to consider and the cell with your prompt logic/

I would use the following tools in the following order. 1. You should start with ChatGPT-4 using the OpenAI web app for many contract drafting tasks. There is different output using the API tools versus the web app itself. 2. Use the chrome extensions for Google Docs and edit directly on the contract itself using the embedded tools. 3. There are third party applications being developed specific for drafting contracts and specifically for lawyers. 4. Create custom prompts for ChatGPT sidebar and check those agasint the other tools to see which ones work best. Check out my latest video on the importance of timing when considering implementation.

How much text can you paste into the prior communications field? Is it subject to the same limit for the chatbot prompts? I think that limit is only about 2,000 characters.

If you connect using your own API link, you get more characters, input and output. There are still some limits, but greater than what you can get in the publicly available tool.

Great question. There are three tools that can help. One is the Crome extension for Google Docs (for word depos). There also various PDF reader plugins available through ChatGPT Plus accounts (for pdf depos). The third and best option is ChatGTP sidebar, which includes Chat PDF, which is a PDF reader. Chat PDF sidebar appears to have the least restrictive word limitation at 10,000 words. All three options have limitations on the number of pages and words they will review at any given time. Those limitations will be eliminated in the near future. I am actively keeping an eye on new applications coming down the pipe. Stay tuned.

Enrico, can you please post a video or provide an update with where ChatGPT currently stands with security of sensitive/privileged information? As I am sure you know, Casetext CoCounsel prioritizes this aspect of it, but of course is significantly more expensive… I would much rather pay $20/mth than $250/mth, but am concerned about being limited due to the inherent security risks with open AI…. Is ChatGPT at least comparable with security yet?

Great question. Of course, with all these companies there’s always some risk of data breach or other security flaw. But I have been able to get access to the private security and privacy documents that open AI keeps behind a firewall. They realize that data security is one issue they have to get right in order to survive. I’ve never seen a company with this level of security protocols this early and its business life cycle. As long as you are using ChatGPT plus, opting out of data training or using chat, GPT teams you are or more secure than your other cloud. Service providers.

No. It does well at legal principles because it’s status that includes all of the legal information and articles on the Internet. But it does not have access to case law databases, which are proprietary. So it does not do well at case, citation, or identification of cases.

Because you don't have to type them in if they are pre-programmed. And you don't have to leave your browser tab with the sidebar tool. But, yes, you can go through a similar process with GTP :-)

Have you considered confidentiality issues with regard to what you are pasting into that prior communications box? It seems you are putting privileged communications out there, in a way. Great question. We work through the chat GPT API using our secret API key and a set of privacy policies designed to ensure privacy. None of the data is used to train any model, including OpenAI's model. Data is briefly stored for very limited purposes. For this reason, we do not recommend using the publicly available ChatGPT chatbot. You should either use a company that's paying for API use or get your own secret key and connect to the API.

Because ChatGPT does not have access to caselaw as part of its data set, except where there has been some miscellaneous citations in blog posts, etc. online, it cannot provide caselaw citations. The big case research companies are embedding AI into their tools directly. While ChatGPT is great at general analysis of legal issues because of the amount of content available on the Internet about those issues, it does not have the ability to provide case citations.

Great question. There are a variety of extensions and plugins for Gmail which seek to optimize the AI revision process within Gmail. However, I find ChatGPT's sidebar still works best when I'm not otherwise using the ChatGPT web interface directly. You can create template prompts for email responses to clients, which would be different than the template for responses to adversaries, which would be different than the responses to prospective clients. You can set the tone for each template response. Download ChatGPT sidebar and check it out.

Thinking outside the box and challenging the status quo of the BAR, puts your license in jeopardy. All lawyers think about their career before their clients. So if you want to be a slave to the BAR, then go to law school. If you want to be a hero for your clients, teach yourself. Find a mentor.

Great point. Chatgpt alone can not do legal research. It does not have case law research as part of it's data set. Other research tools are connected to case and statute databases like west law, Lex is and casetext. You also correctly note that AI is an assistant tool, not a replacement for lawyer review.
