Sitting here watching this in my home office in Port Angeles, WA. Getting all emotional seeing my old home stomping grounds! I've been down so many of these roads and trails via moto, road bike, MTB, and on foot. I love the PNW but definitely miss those rugged Appalachians. Thank you for sharing this excellent adventure!

Rode the Elijay to Suches leg yesterday. I've been riding in the area for years and you still included tracks I'd never seen. And some fairly challenging ones. Nice work!

Thank you for creating this BDR route! I've ridden many of those rodes but not all of them and can attest that it's great Adventure riding. Many overnight options too from camping, to cabins, to hotels. Can't wait to do it and record it!

possible downside to our beautiful tree canopies is GPS breaks up sometimes and solar charging is pretty much non-existent. THANK YOU BDR for showcasing our awesome routes!

Ok that’s a lot of rain. What were the dates this filmed in all the rain? That way I’m not going to plane that month! Lol

We filmed the movie the first week of June. A bit more rain than usual but March through early June can be wet! Still fun if you dress for it and have fresh tires.

Comment for the editor. In the description you have a link for the route. You have to remove the exclamation point from the end of the link for it to work.

Would have been really nice if you gave some credit to the creators of the SM500 - this is basically a shorter version.

Funny, I see very little of it that's the same. Going through the same towns doesn't make them the same routes. There are short bits in sections 1 and 2 on the same roads but nothing in section 3 at all.

Think the official percentage from Kirk is 33 percent of the route shares the Smokey 500 stuff. Not to speak for him but they both know each other pretty well and talked allot about the route aka the BDR.

I guess this is an advertisement for 600 lb bikes that shouldn't be taken off road. Use the right tool for the job, people. KTM 690.

Looks like the big bikes did just fine to me. Watch the BDR documentaries and other youtube channels and you'll see plenty of of big bikes tackling these routes with no issues. Let people ride what they want to ride and stop being unnecessarily critical.
@user_28943
@user_28943 День назад
@@kylerjohnson988 First of all, this video is edited. Second, one of the big bikes did crash, so that is a failure in my book. Third, we don't know what the skill or experience levels of these riders are. The only purpose of the 600 lb ADV is to pad the profits of the motorcycle companies. Wise riders realize that 700 cc will get you everywhere (and farther) than 1300 cc will, but safer, quicker and with more enjoyment.
@kylerjohnson988

@@user_28943 I’ve seen guys on 300lb bikes wreck in less difficult terrain than anything shown here. Does that mean the 300lb bike didn’t belong on the trail? No. That’s not a great argument. Obviously smaller, lighter bikes are more capable off-road. But they’re less capable on road. By comparison, big adventure bikes are a bit less capable off-road but they’re much better on road. They are meant to be good at both rather than great at any one thing. If you’re someone who rides distance on road as well as off, they are a great choice given you have the skill to handle it off-road.
@user_28943
@user_28943 День назад
@@kylerjohnson988 The laws of physics cannot be defied. Stop pretending that 600 lb is as good as 300 lb. It simply isn't true and is impossible. Pay for lightness, not for bulk.
