I LOVED your rabbit hole story, been there, done that-LOL!!! If the good Lord didn’t give us patience when we were young, I pray he gives it to us in our golden years. You manage your life extremely well Nanny and Moose. Behind every good woman stands a good man an vis versa. Enjoy your preps for your trip, that is half the fun. 🙏❤️😂

Hi from Annie yes I can relate to putting things in the oven if you get visitors out the blue done it few times I can just imagine you n 6 kids running around chasing your tails to get things done. I think big families have more fun, I try to get things done each day but not always up to it lately feeling tired etc even tho I am 20yrs younger well that makes me so ashamed but all those health issue slow you down. The shoes look great I have in grown toe nail issues runs in family but have to wear wide flat shoes. I also have to sort my clothes in winter and summer go thru them all and put what is not needed into a big wheelie bin in the shed. I also have a lot of things that clutter the place mostly decorative etc need to go thru it all too.

Hi Nanny, I think all of us have been in the situation you were in your rabbit hole story, when you’re raising your children and you’re having a great family day and then all of a sudden company is coming and everybody’s scrambles to straighten up the house. I know that has happened to me back when I was raising my children. Now that it is just Dave and I it is pretty easy to keep up with things. I try to put everything back where it belongs and keep things picked up on a daily basis, and then said in other heavy duty projects where I can. I still have a lot of energy and can get things done, but I know the day will come when I will slow down. Those shoes you got look so very comfortable and are very pretty. I think it is wonderful that you and moose are going to your sons house for a nice getaway. You both deserve a break and to be pampered and I am sure you will be. Much love to you both, Sheila

I used to stress so bad about not getting everything done. No more, thanks to getting older and smarter 😉 I- like you - make a list. It feels good to mark things off. I will put a Star by the priority items. My mom says It'll still be there tomorrow, and if I'm not here tomorrow, it wont matter anyway! (She turned 85 in Jan) I have a magnet on my fridge that sums it all up: "Home should be clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy" Love, hugs, and blessings to you both from West Texas--

Nanny, I was laughing and crying at the same time at your rabbit hole story. Laughing because I have done the same thing through the years when company was coming and crying because I always felt shame when I had to do something like that. My thought process said how dare I have a lived-in house that is not always company ready. I always felt like I was not good enough and I should be able to do everything perfectly. My kids are grown with kids of their own and I have more time now to keep up, but I still never feel like I am good enough. Thank you for helping me to see that priorities matter and I need to play with my granddaughter even if the floors need vacuumed and there is a sink of dishes. Your words fell like a balm to my heart, giving me permission to be gentle with myself as I grow older and to enjoy life, even if everything is not perfect. I love you, Nanny!
@crushingtheir80snannyandmoose
Oh, Anastasia…especially now as we are growing older….we must love and believe in ourselves so much more than those years when we were so busy and always doing for others..take those moments of joy with your granddaughter…and continue to ‘do for you’ !❤️

Oh Nanny, it’s comforting to hear your voice again. I’ve been caught up in the current news rabbit holes and needing to relax my emotions. I love the topics you discuss. My family and friends live in another state so I’ve collected a sweet group of chickens and finch to care for. They keep me busy with morning and evening chores. I pop out of bed early to hand feed a minute finch that fell out of a nest. Anyway, I truly enjoy your company, fashion and makeup tips and family stories. It’s like listening to a close friend, thank you. Sending kisses to Moose.🌷✨🌵

Good morning Nanny. Listening to your rabbit story I remembered when I had a bigger home, husband and my four nieces around and after a week of work the weekend come and I made all the cooking in the morning and then all went to the beach near by. Often we went all out and I didn’t care with the house. The girls loved to go to the beach and I prepared a little lunch to eat by the sea. When this happened It was invariably that some friends phone me saying that will visit us on the afternoon. So when we come home all four helped to put a little order in the kitchen and in the living room and all the books, toys and puzzles disappeared from the floor and tables so when friends arrived all was ok. Wonderful times. The shoes must be fantastic. I have the same problem to find a comfortable ones. Love you Nanny. God bless you all.

Oh my goodness, you’ve done it again! I’ve done the “white tornado” thing with short notice from friends inviting themselves over with short notice, and have even resorted to stuffing things in the dryer that don’t belong there ever!!! However, at my age, if you’re worried about friends judging your home, are they really “friends”??? I love your shoes!!! After so many years of stuffing my 10 wides into 9 narrows when I was so much younger to make my feet look small, my piggies have had enough!!! I’m going to order your shoe recommendations and probably NEVER TAKE THEM OFF! Thanks Hon‼️❤️‼️❤️‼️❤️ Looking forward to so many of your wonderful videos and rabbit-hole stories‼️‼️‼️ ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ You NEVER disappoint😘‼️

I’m 5ft2in so everything is a reach. The “grabber” that came with knee surgery is wonderful for getting hats on and off shelves and laundry out of low washer and dryer. I also have a collection of “heavy” children’s chairs. They are easy to haul around, and the back gives me something to hold on to. I keep one in my closet, and another in the sewing room, and the one that my tiny mother kept in her kitchen has been in my kitchen since she died in ‘73. I know your family is ready to help, and i know that we also don’t want to ask.. Thank you for the reminders about priorities. I love how people are always more important than hiding pots and pans when unexpected people are welcomed. That is a great story. Most of all, thank you and Moose for sharing yourselves with us!❤

Nanny, well I am most definitely going to order that shoe. I wear a 10.5 and very few manufacturers even make that size. I looked these up and woohoo….they have them. Now I have to pick a color, order and fingers crossed!! They look so comfortable and really nice. Loved the quick clean up story….very creative and effective. Wonder if any of your kids have used that method as parents? I too am a list maker. I have a chalk board in my kitchen. To do’s go on the board, appointments etc. Stars mark importance & when done, I get the pleasure of erasing them. One of my favorite craft show finds. An old window turned into a very functional, pretty chalk board. Have a marvelous weekend . Hope Moose can enjoy his garden & birds🌞💕

I had a mother in law that would spring a surprise visit on us trying to catch me with something out of place. It bothered me at first, then I just told her 'if it bothers you that much, I'll show you where the brooms and cleaning supplies are because I'm going to enjoy my family'.

Cat deterrents: water activated sprinkler spray, pebbles, scattered pine cones, coffee grinds, strong citrus scents (orange & lemon peels), vinegar, lemon grass, cayenne pepper, chili pepper flakes, pipe tobacco, lavender, lemon thyme, penny royal, oils (citronella, mustard, peppermint, spearmint), ammonia.

Hello Nanny, your rabbit hole story was so funny. I could picture everyone running around. Shamu and Ghost must be so happy. The ground is soft so they have less work to do and they have bouquets of flowers to boot…lol. My son helped me plant new flowers and something is eating them right down to the soil. I don’t know what to put around the plants to deter the critters. I used to have everything in its place at all times. Now I have more things than I have storage. I am very unhappy that my body no longer responds when I try to do my house or garden work. We just need to accept the fact that we are no longer 30. I should get rid of things but hobby items take up space and it is my hobbies that keep me going. Your Easter things look pretty and it is still Easter month! You will probably do a summer mantle next. That will give you a break until Fall. Have a great weekend. Blessings to you both, love, Sharon

Please don’t do that. Wait until one of the kids come over to do it for you.

Looking stunning Nanny - you are reversing the aging process! Love your hair and make up here. Nanny you are like me re- chores - as my granny always said to my aunt [her daughter who was over the top house proud] - "this house will be here when you're not- relax". I had two aunts (both now sadly gone) - Martha (my fav.) and Margaret. When they were young still living at home they worked in a local linen factory and had to give their mother [my granny] their wage packet every week - out of which, she gave them sending money (very different times =this was late 1940s/early 50s_ ] = anyhow, Margaret and Martha were also assigned the house to clean - Martha the upstairs, Margaret downstairs. Margaret was always house proud and loved the clean but Martha (like you and me) felt there was much more to life - so she would pay her sister £5 to do her share of the cleaning and she would go on the town with her then boyfriend [who she later married]. Life is way to short to worry about such things, of course, its lovely to get all chores done but not worth worrying over. Stay fabulous Nanny - Love Jas xx

@@crushingtheir80snannyandmoose fabulous age nanny. My Martha just died 2 years ago aged 90. Do you know she was the eldest of 6 The father had died young and she wanted to be a school teacher but had to leave school at aged 14 and start work as my grandmother desperately needed the money Martha had such potential the headmaster begged my granny to let her continue her education and reach her goal. It just wasn't possible. I asked Martha not that long ago - weren't you bitter about having your dream taken away. She replied " that's just the way it was - it was my duty"- I told that story as part of her eulogy. So she left school on a Friday aged 14 and started work in the linen factory the following Mon. Another neat story. While at school they introduced a pen pal scheme and from the age of 10 until she died Martha communicated with her pen pal from Chicago They went through marriages motherhood widowhood all those years. Martha's love of reading and knowledge never left her

Oh Nanny you make me laugh!! Yes, we've hidden the pot and pans in the oven and down in the basement and shoved the toys on the kids floor under the bed many times!! Then had a nice visit with our visitors. Good memories. I was a yes woman. Anytime someone needed cakes, cookies, banana bread or cupcakes I would say yes even if it was next day. If a babysitter was needed I would say sure or a ride to an appointment. Don't get me wrong I enjoy helping out but sometimes it was just at a bad time. I also was working full time. I remember the day I was 41 years old and someone needed me to take her place at a meeting. (I had laundry to like crazy) I said I am very sorry but can't help you out this time. She was kind and understood. I couldn't believe how free I felt!! Took me until age 41!! Love you Nanny you are an angel on earth.❤

Happy Thursday Nanny! Cute story, most of us have been there and done that. I spend a lot of my time organizing, finding a place for everything and everything in its place. Been doing this all my life. Am I organized? No. Is everything in its place. No. Does it drive me nuts. Yes! Think I’ll take a nap! 💤 It will all be waiting when I wake up. 😉

Nanny - loved the video and the music was fun. A favorite movie line comes to mind for you. “You have such a head for knowing”! (Moonstruck - a wonderfully funny film. Nanny, don't feel bad, I just started putting up my Easter decorations this week. I have learned not to push myself to do things, if I do then I pay for it by not having any strength to do anything for several days afterwards. I do as much as I can without getting exhausted and let the rest go for another day .If I get a job done that has been really bugging me, then I feel good about it getting finished. I think you have amazing stamina and energy. I have been known to put things in the bath tub real fast and closing the curtain if someone was coming over to visit.

I haven't wrote to you in several months now my husband has had 3 uti in 4 months so I've been very busy taking care of him but boy am I tired now!! The 1st one was major & he got random which is in the blood. That was all knew to me cuz he had never had it & would u believe they only kept him overnight in the hosp!!! I'm praying we find out why he is getting them & can prevent them cuz it's taken a toll on him. Glad you & moose are doing great & I know your trip sounds like fun. Sending my love & hugs to you both kaye

I maintain a planner and each day I have my to do list. I prioritize the list and anything I do not get to will go on the list for the next day. I also have my monthly to do list and I try to complete those tasks for that month. I love planning and organizing. I find that helps me and I can stay on track. I love your channel and look forward to every video. You just make my day! Oh, and by the way, my Easter decorations are still up. I plan on getting them down and putting them away this weekend. 💖

Hi Nanny...I am not shocked at all...I'm right there with you! I'm sitting here looking at my Easter decorations still out, things are in just tolerable shape. My husband and I both came down with some wicked virus (not Covid) right after Easter and in the middle of new flooring being put in our basement. We are just starting to feel like we're among the living. The house needs cleaned, Easter stuff needs to be put away, the basement looks like an explosion took place since everything had to be moved for the flooring and our energy level has not returned yet. I used to pull all nighters when things got so far behind but not anymore. I make a similar priority list as you do. I put the list in numerical order according to what is important to me. It feels so good to get to cross something off the list! Your rabbit hole story struck a chord! We've had to do similar last minute clean up for company comi. Anything that had a lid or a door...was fair game for stuffing things in! Now...I just try not to worry so much as I ask myself...are they coming to see US or our house? Things will get done if we just keep chipping away at the list. You mentioned the children going thru photos. If there is anything that seems overwhelming to me...I think I'd have to say the boxes and boxes and boxes of photos....what on earth do people do to get control!? Our kids don't want to inherit all these boxes. Two of the 3 kids are so techy, they only want everything on disks, in the clouds or whatever else one can do with photos. I'm not up to scanning all these photos and they don't have time. I'd be interested in knowing what others are doing in these latter years to prepare for disposal of old photos. I love those shoes. My neighbor who is a teacher wears them. She gave me the ordering info and I ordered some. Oh my...they are so soft. As badly as I wanted to, I couldn't wear them because the sides are so soft my foot would roll to one side or the other. My knees hurt if I don't have firm support. They are so cute and such a great buy for leather..I was disappointed. So exciting that you and Moosey are going on a trip! I don't have any suggestions for those 2 naughty little kitties. Around here some people will use gum balls for mulch. They are very prickly! Hugs to you both ❤J

Another great vlog and so much fun to hear the rabbit hole stories. I haven't ever done that but I do have a bedroom that is a catch all and everything seems to land there.........not too bad as I do force myself to get busy and square it u every now and then. Love your outlook on things. I too am a caregiver to my spouse and for 15 years it seems things have been on hold and it does get overwhelming. The shoes look perfect and I should look into them as indeed slippers are the mainstay which isn't necessarily the best thing. I need a good soul for support and to help my back not ache so much. LOL There is a price to pay for everything it seems. LOL Excited for your trip and I hope you both have a great time. Hopefully the weather will be perfect for you! Blessings
