Chatting with Enrico Fumia about the Alfa Romeo Spider 916 3.0 V6 Busso

In this episode we are taking the Alfa Romeo Spider 916 3.0 V6 12V Busso on the road in Liguria and Piemonte, Italy, to meet Enrico Fumia who designed the car for Pininfarina. Mr. Fumia talks about the origins of the 916 - which was internally called 169 D2 - and explains how it relates to other legendary Alfas like the Giulietta Spider, the Giulietta Sprint, the Duetto and the 164. He also elaborates on his approach to car design in general.

Thanks so much for this great video and interview. I am in the USA where the 916 was never sold, but I was able to import my dream car a couple years ago and can't believe I finally own Enrico Fumia's 'work of art'. It is as much a joy to drive as it is to look at. Nice to see you also own this beauty, and now nice to hear Mr. Fumia's comments on how the 916 Spider car came to be. Excellent work!

Thank you Taluh and Cy, for your great questions, wonderful to see the 12v Spider on the road once more. Always interesting to gain further understand and listen to insights from Mr Fumia on the origins of the 916 GTV and Spider Those soft focus quarter scale design studies over Enrico's shoulder were tantalizing, I would have loved to have seen these up close and in focus.

Bellissima intervista, i designer italiani hanno creato le più belle auto di sempre. E Fumia dice una cosa molto vera, oggi è il marketing che decide cosa disegnare e non c'è più libertà, le auto sono tutte uguali e banali. Bellissimo canale!

Grazie molto such a nice interview. I own also 916 spider. in Corea we don’t have any dealer shop for Alfaromeo. To maintain this beauty, i have to import all the “ricambi” myself but it’s worth. Essere fiero della nostra alfa! La meccanica delle emozioni 🇮🇹🤌🍀
