It takes a lot of courage to talk about this online to the world. I've struggled a bit with mental health as well (postpartum) and it is definitely easier knowing there are others out there like me. Thank you for making these videos

I agree! I decided to speak out about the same thing in hopes my other mama friends wouldn’t feel alone. My Hubbys aunt decided to come over and scold me for it because I was “embarrassing” my family. That I had no right to post about it and that I was making up the anxiety/depression. Also, that if my kids get hurt, child services will blame me and come in and take my 2 toddlers from me. When I tell you, I was speechless… she’s the exact reason most women don’t speak out. She made me sick to my stomach.

I just want you to know that you talking about this made me think okay it’s not bad to think you need some help so I finally got the courage to talk to my dr about lexapro because I had such bad postpartum anxiety but was too scared to take medicine, I started it last week and I know it takes a while to kick in but I already am starting to feel more like myself again! I’m so glad to hear you are doing so well! ❤️

Yes please give us a book/devotional review. I am Catholic too and I’m always looking for good things to read/pray. Random, but what was that book you mentioned a long while ago about respecting your husband? PS thanks for updating us. So many of us can relate 🤍

As someone who really struggles with anxiety, I feel you. I always think of the worst when I do anything. I still try to avoid highways and fast speed roads with my son. I also have moments when I snap because of my anxiety. I’ve gotten after my son a lot lately and I believe it’s my anxiety. I am thinking to go to a doctor to discuss my anxiety because it has been taking over my life as well. This video really encouraged me, I’m definitely going to be talking about solutions.

Kayla I'm so proud of you for trying the Lexapro. I also struggled with PPA and have been on meds for the past year and it has been life changing for me. I'm starting to wean down off of them now but they helped me SO much! I have been weaning really slowly over the past couple months and that is definitely the way to go. I definitely notice some symptoms each time I drop doses for a couple of days, where I feel kind of flat and bleh, and then it has leveled out and gotten better. I was on 150mg of zoloft and now I'm on 50mg and about to drop again to 25 :)

So thankful to have found a youtuber who I can relate to so much. Living away from family in a new state with a toddler(s) is not easy. Not having that support, that familiarity, is really a struggle. And omg making mom friends is SO hard! I have so much anxiety and I’m so appreciative that you are so real and honest about those struggles, it is really refreshing and makes me feel less alone. Love you Kayla and I’m so happy to see your progress, it really pushes me to take steps out of my comfort zone so that I can tell my anxiety to F off haha

When I was put on Prozac, both my counselor and Dr. stated that they like to see at least 6 months with the meds. And they never recommend their patients to wean off in the fall or winter. They said spring and summer is usually a better idea!

Thanks for talking about this! When you first talked about your post partum anxiety, it made me realize that I was struggling as well. I've been on a lexapro for a few months and it has made such a difference. I feel so much more like myself. I felt like my mind was racing all the time and couldn't sleep. Now I feel so much like my old self, I still worry, but all moms do I think, it isn't all encompassing anxiety anymore. Postpartum depression is talked about more often, but I hadn't really heard about postpartum anxiety so I didn't even realize what was going on. Glad you are feeling better too! :)

I get you!! I have struggled my whole life with anxiety and depression!!! I was severely depressed after I had my second baby but that was a long time ago but I still struggle with my mental health. I have been on medication most of my adult life. So I do understand what your going thru with your anxiety and depression and I have seen a psychiatrist for years. It is kind of a tabu subject. Especially for me bc I was abused as a small child by a cousin and I have had to deal with all that for years and it is soooooooo hard bc people don't understand abuse unless they have struggled with it as well. I don't like to talk about it.

Make sure you wean off instead of stopping abruptly because I did that with my antidepressant and it lead to a severe panic attack which ended in a hospital visit. Now I’m scared to ever get back on it. Lesson learned though. I would never do that again!

I’ve been feeling like I may need to get on something again for my anxiety and depression but after that panic attack I had I’m terrified of getting on it again. I’ve tried St Johns Wort before and it did help so I’m going to try that again. It’s a natural supplement and mood booster.

Hi Kayla, I can really relate to this video. I went through a period of really bad anxiety in 2014 when I was 24, that year in particular was a peak and it was creeping into every aspect of my life like you said and I was having trouble functioning. I was at University at the time and took a free course put on by counselling that lasted once a week for a number of weeks..I used to get anxious being in that class feeling everyone else's anxiety but the techniques really helped me. I didn't really want medication (well specifically my mom wasn't exactly keen on it and suggested i try to find other ways to resolve this) so I found a combination of herbal tea, reflexology, meditation and exercise daily was my key. For a good year i had to do that daily, if I missed one thing I felt it. Things got progressively better, by 2016 I was a lot better and by 2017 had managed it. I still get anxious, in fact I was today, but it is SO MUCH BETTER. It was really awful for a period there, I would randomly have panic attacks even at work. I definitely still have the same fears of you though of white vans and kidnappers and all that. I don't think I will everything get rid of those thoughts but the anxiety is a shadow of what it was several years ago. I'm so glad you got help and are now feeling better too!

Im currently on sertraline for postpartum depression and anxiety. This is the 3rd round of depression iv had. First time was after i had my daughter, second time was my miscarriage i had thos year, and 3rd time it just came back randomly. Dr thinks i got off my medication too soon. I dont want to depend to be on meds my whole life but im also scared to get off of them. Waking up to with a feeling of dread and a super fast heart beat its so hard. Thank you for the update kayla!! ❤️

Dear Kayla, For choosing the right moment to start weaning you may consider two things: My therapist gave me the advice to NOT stop medication in fall or winter bc this is the time when most people tend to get depression. Less hours of sunlight and the stressful christmas/holiday season may trigger your anxiety. I wish you all the best! Kind regards, Alexandra

I think I'm going to start looking into medication. I've been really having a hard time getting my anger in check. Like you said not sad or depressed just really f'ing ragey!! My daughter just turned 3 and this is the hardest it's been for me and the worst I've felt including pregnancy. It's hard to put it into words but literally the tiniest thing can set it off and then I almost WANT to be nasty just to get some rage out...🤷‍♀️ I can't explain it. I'm just flippin strugglinggggggg, hard. I just want a break too I think maybe. I don't know

@thaladiescorner9989 2 года назад
*I did not know that being angry amd snappy, on the edge is also part of anxiety. I thought more so stressed or personality. I thought anxiety is more the fear part only, scared for something bad to happen and all these scenarios that lives in the mind* But important thing is that you are feeling better and doing something about it, I am a fellow Leo 🤪 and can relate with so much you tell!

I used to have Aetna insurance, ended this past July, but they had seen I was getting psychiatric medicine (I have bad anxiety as well, can relate) and Aetna has a FREE program. I mean not free in the sense that I paid for my insurance but no additional costs. So if anyone sees this who needs virtual counseling or wants to try it and has Aetna, call them up and ask about it. I wish I remember what it's called (the program). Just like Kayla I get anxiety about leaving my home, mine is specifically I am afraid my kids and I will be hit by another driver because when I was 19 weeks pregnant I was T-boned by another driver, luckily my baby girl was fine. Also, shortly after my husband was rear-ended when he was stopped at a red light! So I had reasons but since I already had anxiety I was so scared! So the therapy and meds have helped to push myself and be normal again, lol.

Kayla, listen there is a better way to help yourself and not to use strong medications. Read about Bach flowers, they are very helpful, I can fully recommend them, I am a certified naturopath and I see cases like yours all the time in men and women, more often women, but this is normal, we are so arranged. Flowers have no side effects! So my friendly delight to you, find a naturopathic specialist who will help you choose your mix of flowers. But first of course read about them. I wish you all the very best!

I think I have a postpartum anxiety too. I'm a first time mom and it's just me my fiancé and my 3 month old son. Although I have a family.. I dont see them that much and cant come to our apartment due to covid protocol. I feel so alone sometimes and I have crazy imagination like.. what if I there's an emergency that me or my partner need to go to the ER who will take care of the baby. What if I'm alone with my son and I had a heart attack, what if theres an earthquake we live on the 23rd floor. Things like that. Anyway I want to thank you Kayla for sharing your story I watch your videos almost all day everyday it feels as though I have a friend who goes thru the same thing who wont judge me. I'm like you in alot of ways like.. If somebody is trying to tell me how to be a mom I'm like kiss my a** linda😂.
