It’s okay to go with the flow with your decisions about your family. I had mixed feelings about returning after having my first baby. I had fully planned the whole next year after my baby was born. When the time came to return to work I cried constantly and just couldn’t do it. Don’t feel guilty about choosing family over teaching if that’s what you want. After having two children and staying home for 8 years I’m ready to go back and see how it goes. And the time has literally flown by!!! 8 years has been a blink!!! I hope you have a safe and peaceful birthing experience!!! Good luck girly!!! Wishing you the best.

Emma, You’re thought on teaching really validated how I’ve been feeling this year. This is my first year teaching special Ed preschool. I have 18 students 8 with disabilities and 12 general Ed all in one room. I worked as a para for four years before getting my degree and I loved it. I have decided that I am going to step back after this year and be a behavior coach which will be a pay cut, but also a cut in stress. The number one thing this first year of teaching has taught me is that no job is worth your mental health.

You are wise beyond your years! Seriously, you are so level headed. It’s crazy to me that teachers don’t get maternity pay, yet we have to plan for the time we are gone. 🤦🏼‍♀️

this is so insane!! I live in Austria (Europe), where you HAVE TO get off work when you are seven months pregnant. And after your baby is born, you get two fully paid years to stay at home with your baby. I just can`t believe how the system in the US works..this is crazy! Emma, what are you going to do with your baby when you go back to work in March?

My daughter was born on Dec. 14th! So that’s my guess, mainly cause it’s a great day to be born 🤪 Wishing you a safe delivery! ❤️

The US does not practice what it preaches re family values 😪 12 weeks is so short and being unpaid is ridiculous. We get 52 weeks of which 26 are paid and my union tops up the payment to salary pay for 14 weeks. I feel so awful for new mamas just barely getting to know their babies and then having to make such a difficult choice 😔
