I subbed when you were doing the home in Texas and I was hooked. Boy do I miss the building and construction videos. I knew you wouldn't do building in every video but it seems like such a long time ago now. The entryway at your Cali home was great. I'm so ready to see more building. It was so inspiring.
MaCenna isn't a home builder, so there is bound to be disappointment on that end. I'm thinking she will continue working on the cottage in 2024, but they might also start a family and the content changes yet again. It's a real life, after all, isn't it? Meanwhile, I am also looking forward to seeing the coffee bar area in the cottage come to life, as well as the bedroom, and the landscaping. I still have a liitle hope she will paint the entire front door one color, which I believe should be glossy black to be cohesive with the window trim, so the entrance will look much grander. Lots of fun projects still to come.

Kinsley is so cute and so funny! She needs her own channel. I suggest you get an electrician look at your breaker box. I just had a new HVAC system installed and needed to have some breakers "downsized" . Seems counter intuitive, but once explained it made sense. Too much power is as dangerous as not enough.

MaCenna I totally get your description of life with Romeo. I met my late husband in college. He is my PERSON, even though he died from ALS. He made me whole. Some day's I think I cannot go on without him, bur I push through and know he is with me and always will be. Thank you
MaCenna certainly has inspired me over the years. Ive done plastering, plumbing, complete bathroom re-model, furniture making, taken up old floors and replaced, swapped radiators, putting up a new ceiling etc. Sure my dads a builder but hes never encouraged me. Sometimes I ask him for products to use and the process of doing things. Hes impressed with what ive done and its hardwork but worth it. Love from over the pond xx
I suggest that you start with the master bed and bath. That way, every evening when you are discussed and tired of living in dust, you can go and have a shower and enjoy you bedroom
I love that you'll be tackling the storage unit soon. I think that would be ab amazing video to watch. My request would be that you empty the storage unit completely and go through everything in your house. I think it would be cozier and more efficient if you could do it comfortable at home. Eliminate the rush of the storage place closing and avoid the scary lights! I can't wait to see the process.
One if the first things I thought of when you mentioned making an impact on the bedroom by painting it dark, it reminded be of your moms paintings that you put on the inside of the candle packaging. And then I thought, this might be so extra but it would be amazing to get one of your moms moody painting as a custom mural wall paper! That would be epic! I have to say, I feel I was supposed to see this video today. I was just about to go to bed when your video came on and hearing your response to the question of how to stay happy and positive has really helped me. I was having one of those days where your grateful for the life you have as you know you have more then some but still feel as though your not happy. I feel as though I’m in that stage of feeling stuck or unsatisfied with what I’m doing with my life, I’ve worked hard climbing the ranks and now manage a large hotel chain and I’m simply not happy. I think this has given me that push i needed to change what isn’t for me, so thank you! ☺️

First place to start when renovating a house in my opinion is. Check if all the structures are sound roof/floors/windows/doors. Tackle those first. For interior cosmetics. Make sure you have one bathroom done and one bedroom suitable for sleeping. Then, in case something happens, you can move in fast or if you so wish too, live in a construction site. These are necessities to have if you are living there as well. After bathroom and bedroom move on to kitchen and laundry space, then you can tackle which ever room you like.

I was the same as you Macenna. Got my first big girl job in Corporate nearly 10 years ago, it was great! Made great money.. met great people, amazing benefits.. but slowly, it sucked the soul out of me and my creativity. I knew going in Corporate was going to be a stepping stone for me running my own biz. It took a longggg time to build the courage to leap. The fear is real! But I saved and saved and saved, got applicable certifications to build credibility in my craft. And after 7 years, I jumped. Never regretted it. I was so sure. About to hit 3 years of running my coaching biz online and expanding into a physical space come Feb 2024. 🙏🏻 I've grown SO much in the last 3 years compared to all my time in Corporate. The universe loves and rewards courage!!! 💖💖💖 Only better things ahead. Upward, always ✨️

Ohh I’ve been subscribed to you since your very first collaboration with Drew when you still lived down the road from each other. I think it was an ikea and thrift flip video. I’ve since been subscribed to your main channel, your vlogs, your podcast channel, your Instagram, now the company Instagram… and I’ve watched every single video on everything, within at most a day of you posting them. My favourite content is honestly your makeovers but I think those are also yours, and clearly I like the other contents as well. I think the key ingredients for me that appeal to me are 1. your aesthetic sensibility, 2. your work ethic, 3. your focus on quality, 4. and your positive outlook. I think in that order haha. It’s fairly rare to find someone on RU-vid who has just that perfectly balanced aesthetic sensibility that I like, even across different styles. You have a certain eye for composition and placement and colours and moods that I don’t think many others have on RU-vid. And you want to do everything yourself, and I’m very much like that myself. I appreciate that you’re introverted and hardworking, but not necessarily anti-people (that last part is something I’m working on still lol). Just wanted to leave a positive message. 😊
I love a star on the top of the tree! Bows are my FAVORITE though. Angels are pretty, but they're more my mom's and grandma's thing. We always had a star on the tree as a kid, so it's nostalgic for me!
For me I started to watch your videos when you started doing small DIY. I love all of your videos because of your personality and happy vibes that watching your videos give me. I have completely deferent style of decorating but still really enjoy your LA and Cottage content. It is amazing what you achieved with both houses and I think lot of people don't understand the hard work behind all of this projects. Your guest bath wallpaper comment brought back funny/tragic memories of my mother. She saw a DIY idea of using flour base and water as a cheaper paste. She papered the main bathroom in our home, in white with a small fleur-de-lys pattern. Weeks after completion, mold grew under the wall paper, and she had to take it all off and clean the toxic black mold, and disinfect the walls before “painting” the bathroom! She did use wallpaper in other areas. But that was another true Lucille Ball, “I Love Lucy” moment! She was precious. Upbeat like you, energetic and constantly doing projects.
The question about how you stay positive really made me realise how right I was to drop a couple of so-called ‘friends’ out of my life. They literally sucked the positivity out of me. I’m so much happier now without them and they are welcome to each other 😅 Can’t wait to see your chosen colour for the bedroom 🐶🎄😍

I wallpapered our hallway closet and I love it! It's such a small space and obviously can't be seen when the door is shut but it's a little bit of joy every time I go in there
I suggested swapping the office desk and dining table earlier. Putting the desk against the window facing the pool would give the same view as now. And a round dining table with chairs around it (no bench) would fit nicely where the desk is now. At least until they reno the kitchen.
You're actually the reason I bought out all the velvet ribbon at my local Joann's! 😂 I wanted to put bows and add around my tree and around some gifts. So I bought all the velvet ribbon that was there just so I didn't run out!

MaCenna, I started watching your channel shortly after you bought the cottage, maybe the second or third video you posted at the beginning of the epic journey. It was because of the amazing things you were doing with that house that I subscribed and have followed both channels ever since (I think I subbed the blog channel for Vlogmas last year, or maybe it was the year before). You are a badass, strong, amazing, inspiring woman to jump in and tackle all of the things that you’ve accomplished in both of your homes, without any formal training in carpentry or building. I also love your authenticity, sharing your failures (like your first attempt at crown moulding in the cottage bathroom), and the genuine, loving relationships you have with Romeo and your family. Don’t let anyone ever make you doubt yourself because you are incredible (and they are probably just jealous)! ❤

I just wanted to say (because idk who needs to hear it) but if you are struggling with not feeling happy or positive and it’s because you struggle with mental health, don’t have the financial means or stability to quit a job and pursue something else, etc etc…. You are not a bad person. As someone who deals with pretty severe and chronic depression and yet know that I am a bubbly and loving person, I know how helpless it can feel. Surround yourself by people who don’t make you feel like a burden and know that you are not alone ❤
