I was pretty angry when I watched the other day. Then I realized that she is a kid who never received love and care - the proper kind of love and care where loved ones teach you manners. I feel she is also a bit hyperactive... maybe thats how she copes with life. Im glad you stuck with her despite all the obstacles. This gives her a chance to grow as a person.

post a video of her being bad and all the comments like "abandon her". post a video of her being sweet and everyone like "see she just a kid". Commenters opinions change faster than Chau Ahns mood swings. Last couple vids I feel like I have learned a lot about her. How she says "look at us we look like beggars". This indicates that she does not view herself as a beggar. Which is true. While people have donated money to her and mom, they have never asked for help. When tea lady mentions how she never has had a full set of books it really reminds me of the social pressures she must endure at school. How would u like to be THAT kid. We have seen in the slum kid vids where the kids are aware who the rich kids are and who the poor. How do we know what her daily struggles are when not with the mom? Do the school kids tease her? Shun her? Kids her age bottle these things up. So all we get to see are her ups and downs and outbursts without the context on why she may be in a bad mood.

I must say Chau Anh is such a character, very funny at times. The other video where you went to see that really remote place to stay. The land lady was trying to sell the place, Chau Anh complained there's no kids here to play with, then the landlady said there's loads of kids to play with here. Then Chau anh started crouching over in a funny voice taking the mickey out of the landlady! Hilarious. Now she's carrying a toy gun like a little general giving orders. This girl is smart she deserves a better life!

In a previous upload Chau Anh chose to walk by Troys side on that long walk rather than jump on the bike which says a lot about her.

Troy, she is such a clever, smart street wise kid, having to survive which she does, taking control of grown ups like you, even at such a young age. At her age my parents looked after me, she hasn't got that but she is so feisty she takes control of every situation, that is a young girl who is so much more mature than lots of people ten years older. Okay a pain in the arse at times but she won't let anybody walk over her, wow amazing for such a young girl, please don't walk away she needs you more than you realize and I know she does test your patience but, she is worth every ounce of time you give to her and her mum... soldier on man!

I find it odd that the mother goes to the restaurant, gets herself a plate, and leaves the child to fare for herself and Troy, even though Troy is the one paying for the meal. Maybe social mores there are much different than those of which I am accustomed. I don't think she's as "out of it" as I first thought. I continue to feel she loves the life she has, as she has no real responsibilities. No cooking, no cleaning, no worries about rent or food.......Just walk the streets and find a doorway in which to sleep...........

I guess when you show the before and after videos, it kind of hits home. Unfortunately the mother is no different, but Chau Anh has become extroverted, smart and smart ass too LOL. It's a work in progress, it's not all bad as some are saying here. She sees you as a buddy she can joke around, be mean to but also be nice to as well. I think it'd hurt her if you disappeared all of a sudden. When she gets out of line, you need to keep being firm though, as the mother is just mentally absent. On a side note, OMG that toy gun! So realistic in the states a cop would someone who had something like that?!

I see how ppl change opinions like the wind here. However mine stays the same. Raising a child takes time and effort to correct bad behaviors and reward good. if Troy is going to be in her life for many many years with monthly/ weekly visits, weekly visits are better then good. Teaching her respect is hard work ( look how she just squeezing in front of the man she didn't know when getting food) and shouting to the worker her order with out at manner s. She is untrained in ppl personal space and respecting others, manly due to her own circumstances. But she's a child and will need time to learn these things. Any child has potential to be a good person and good to their community in the future. But the question is will Troy settle there to do that? Being a father is hard work but rewarding work especially when you see the results of the time you put in. Right now he doesn't have his own family to support and when he/if he does ( maybe he doesn't want one I don't know) what about her. Will he move her family in with his, will his future wife like that? It's just when you get involved with children that are not yours like this it's a huge responsibility. They learn how to interact with men in 3 main ways; 1. The man is just there to give money and things and is not there alot. 2. The man is abuser, verbally and upwords 3. The man cares of her well being and her future, he is also there all the time when needing advice and guidance, while keeping her protected. The 3rd doesn't always require money but definitely time and you always hear when a girl becomes a woman how that was the most valuable. Well that's what my daughters tell me. So take her to a park and let her play it will do her wonders. Just remember the 3rd choice requires time. Can you give it?
