Actually the tempo is correct. You just have to hold the notes for the correct amount of beats. If you have the score in front of you you’ll see it’s pretty true to the original tempo.

@@fezzik7619It is not. I played Jose Carrera's performance at The Met with Teresa Stratas, starting at the same time, and he ended almost 40s earlier.

A bit slow...Although Pavarotti did some close to this tempo...and was able to draw out the phrases incredibly well.
