That’s the correct one. I’m not sure the reason they have that temp listed on the website, it might be recommend not to go lower. You can set it all the way down to 32° and I have personally had it down to 35° but normally keep it around 40°

Pretty sure your chiller will overheat (especially in the summer) without proper ventilation and air flow inside that box. I have 2 vents in my enclosure, the air "inlet" uses an HVAC filter and the "outlet" has a fan that runs continuously to pull air through the enclosure. Also, once you add the venturi, you'll probably notice that the 400gph pump is insufficient. I'm using a 900pgh pump and I still wish I'd gone with the 1200gph one. It moves the water, but doesn't "jet" the water by the time it gets back to the tub. Good start though!
@DanielPlunges
@DanielPlunges 4 месяца назад
Thanks for the advice, I have been using it with the lid open, I will be adding a vent and fan similar to yours here soon. I have not had an issue with water flow after installing the ozone Venturi, I have had it for a couple weeks now and it works good.

@@johnclements5535 Not for massaging. The water around your skin will normalize and stop "feeling" cold if the water is not circulating strongly in the tub. When the water is not strong enough coming out of the nozzle, there is little circulation.

Hello Daniel, thanks for a detailed setup video. I want to purchase the chiller you recommend, but noticed in their manual that it chills water from 68℉-79℉, but you seem to have no issues getting it down to 35°F. Are their specs incorrect, or does any other piece of equipment you used helps in getting the temps down to the desired 35°? Thanks in advance
@DanielPlunges
@DanielPlunges 3 месяца назад
Your welcome! The chiller is made for fish tanks so that’s what they designed the instructions for I assume. The chiller does come with 1/2 tubbing and a small pump, that could be the reason they don’t think it will go lower, with the bigger pump and tubbing I use, it can chill the water much lower.

Hello everyone just an update, after using a lot of these ideas and parts recommended here; I recommend a couple things: opt for a better quality pump, I used the one recommended here at first.. It gets noisy at times, and the impeller housing cover twists off easy, just a simple bayonet lock using oring friction to keep it in place; a little twist or tension on the tubing can cause it to come loose. I ended up getting a Danner brand 500 GPH pump used for ponds; it is solidly built and bolted together; by most reviews they last for years. A few more bucks but worth it. It has about the same level of noise as the aquarium pump, and the flowrate is a little more; it seemed to cool down my Ice Barrel a bit faster because of it. And I would suggest getting sealant for the plastic NPT threads; teflon tape is technically just a lubricant designed for metal pipe threads. I used Rectorseal True Blue and it works great. An optional thing I did as well, because as an engineer I was anticipating maintenance or disassembly in the future, was to add camlock fittings to the ports on the chiller; these are disconnects such that I can pull the chiller out of the assembly easily.

Can you link exactly what you used please. I ordered everything on your list but the parts are not fitting together. Especially the bulkhead. The 3/4 barb with 3/4 npt attaches to the bulkhead correct?? Mine are not matching and will not thread together and they are 3/4. Also, what size are you using with the pump? 1/2 and 3/4th?. Ive been to the home depot three times trying to match these up. Ive been in the PEX section. Maybe that's where I am going wrong. Thanks for the help

No for the bulk head you should use the 3/4 Female GHT. Or you can use a 1/2 Male NPT also. For the chiller I used the 3/4 Female NPT fitting. You should be able to find this stuff in the garden sprinkler section, at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

Couple of questions. 1. Are you having any issues with heat from the chiller in the box with no vents? 2. For the hose going from chiller>tank, was there a reason he has that loop of hose above the chiller? I was told the shorter the hose, the better.
@DanielPlunges
@DanielPlunges 3 месяца назад
I have been leaving the lid open when it’s running to stop it from getting hot, I will be adding vents, so yes definitely recommend lots of vents. I did not have a 90° connection at the time so I have to do the loop to make it work, I have since changed that to a 90° connection on the chiller so it now goes straight into the tub.

@@DanielPlunges Sounds good. Looking forward to your ozone video I left a lengthier comment but YT must have deleted it on account of amazon link I pasted. Here's a shortened rewrite: Have been plunging for 6 months, same tub as you, kept in the garage with a 2" EPS foam cut to sit in the rim ~3" down and a plywood top. I cycle 11 frozen 1 gal water bottles in daily and temps range from 46-66 now that it is mid 90s outside. Last week I insulated the bottom with 2 cans of Great Stuff foam insulation (door and window) and a 50'x1' roll of r8 foam core secured with aluminum tape on the sides (I cut pieces to fit the recesses and make it flat, then wrapped it fully 2x). Temps are now 37-42! I was worried about the reliability of a $250 chiller, but feeling confident now that the tub is well insulated.
