I thought I was the only one who had a makeup wish list on their phone. I literally thought I was crazy for having a list of makeup I wanted to buy lol
YSL and Loreal are owed by the same company and the YSL glossy stains and the Loreal gloss are supposedly the same product, just packaged for the separate brands :)
+Nilda Simon estee lauder is the mother company of seriously so many companies. such as lancome, clinique, arden, origins. and those companies separately own other companies! its crazy. But yea, loreal is pretty much the generic brand of lancome.
+Vicki Jennings you're right in saying that Estee Lauder owns a plethora of cosmetics companies, but Estee Lauder doesn't own Lancome. L'Oreal does, and L'Oreal is not owned by Estee Lauder. they're their own company.
RU-vid recommended this video and I am so glad they did! I miss these old school videos so much and it’s nice to take a step back in time, even for just a moment.
Great dupes! What I love is that some of these dupes are cruelty-free/vegan (like Milani, elf, Sonia Kashuk) while the high end isn't! This video is awesome proof that you can be cf on a budget (or if you just don't want to spend all your money on makeup :))!
I'm very picky about my subscriptions and THIS video made me subscribe...excellent...loved it..thanks (you weren't too goofy..seemed you were just being yourself and that's always a good thing)
+Jessica Braun | JAMbeauty89 Thank you for this video!! Is there a dupe for the Too Faced Hot Chocolate Marzipan eye shadow??? I've hit pan and am suffering from withdrawals?!?! Yikes!
+Mika Rose she means she thought the drugstore side is on the left while the high end is on the right when actually its actually- drugstore (right) & high end (left) 😊
I thought the left (drugstore side) looked bright, soft and flawless, while the high end side looked kind of splotchy. Needless to say, I guessed wrong! Great video.
I love that you are willing to spend the money and do the research on these dupes for me - your efforts are very much appreciated and I do value your opinion on them, so thanks for sharing!
Does anyone know of a dupe for Benefit Dallas? It doesn't have to be cheaper - I just hate that it's not cruelty free. I can't find a good dupe anywhere.
Bare Minerals 'The Close Call' blush is a pretty similar dupe, and cruelty free :) If you ever need dupes try www.temptalia.com/makeup-dupe-list , there are so many products on there!
Also follow @dupethat on Instagram they literally have dupes for everything. But maybe the Milano rose blushes or too faced & urban decay might have something similar to its mauve tone
I find it funny that I always thought you were saying the little 'EYE' in the right corner and I kept looking for an eye, and all this time you were refering to the 'i' lol, I feel so dumb right now xD
Jess I love your goofy personality. Your enthusiasm is awesome and inspiring to me. Btw, I love your mock neck quarter-zip top from VS! VS is one of my favorite brands! Thank you for being so thorough with your dupe info and tips. I really appreciate it and look forward to seeing you regularly.
Have they changed Rimmel's Airy Fairy? It looks beautiful on here but on my lips it is much lighter, like a nude that doesn't quite work. I need to check out what is on the store shelves to see if it really has changed or if my lip pigmentation is
+Karen Johnston Yes! I have an Airy Fairy from a couple years ago and it looks awful on me-- way too light. My lips are pretty pigmented. I always strive for that perfect pinky peachy nude lip, but my berry color shows through.
Love your videos. You are my favorite you tuber to watch- especially your travel vlogs with Tyler. It feels like I'm there with u guys. You are awesome!!
The Too Faced to Rimmel dupe and the Nars to Revlon dupe are both going Cruelty free to tested on animals brands, unfortunately. The ELF & Milani dupes are exciting and cruelty free. I so wish they were all cruelty free. There's just no reason for animals to suffer for makeup...so very sad. "The greatest ethical test we're ever going to face is the treatment of those at our mercy." (Lyn White)
What do they actually do to animals to make it cruelty? and what animals do brands usually test on? (Sorry if that sounded rude, but i actually don't know)
Julia Pragit Hi Julia, it's not rude at all, and I think most people don't know and that's why so many companies get away with it. let me say first that some companies you really (likely) know & love ARE cruelty free: Too faced, Urban decay, nars, IT, Tarte, Becca, anastasia BH and more, plus Wet n Wild, milani, physicians formula, NYX to name a few high end and drug store brands. I don't like saying on here what is don't to the animals because it is very uncomfortable to some and they get very offended by being made uncomfortable. Briefly, animals (mainly rabbits and dogs) live in cages till testing time when they are put in stocks (like the old time criminal stocks where head and hands are held in place so the person, or animal in this case, can't really move or get away) so that they cannot flinch or move away from something hurting them. Chemicals are put into their eyes, noses, mouths, they are force fed and parts of boys are shaved and chemicals applied. They blister, bleed, die, are blinded, scream....believe me, I am censoring! In minor cases dogs, mostly beagles as they are a hardy breed, have special made masks put over their snouts where they must breathe in chemicals that they cannot get away from or get a fresh breath. These are BY FAR NOT the worst cases! AND there are companies testing in ways that don't require any animals suffering at all, AND its not too expensive! Or wet n wild would not be the least expensive cosmetics! You can go to beautywithoutbunnies.com; beaglefreedomproject.com and logicalharmony.com for more information. Peta.com has lists of companies that test and those committed to not testing (they are a very reliable source of information (peta, I mean) but they advocate the same mercy for roaches and spiders and I can't make myself go that far. Medical testing is different - don't on mice and rats and there's no way around that. but for cosmetics - to make these poor animals suffer? It's unconscionable and simply cruel. Im sorry my answer was long. I could've been shorter and then more graphic. I appreciate your asking. No cosmetics will look the same to you now that you know. - peace to you and God bless!
Me too! I buy nude or nude-pink lip color and they look freaking coral or peach on me! It drives me crazy because I can't ever tell when I order or swatch a lip color.
+Ilka Palmer I bought the LA girl matte gloss in Dreamy that A LOT of people have been loving... it looks SO orange on me! on others it is the perfect everyday pinky nude but not on me :(
Thank you for your videos. I love them all. I honestly think the drugstore side has a softer look. I thought it was the high end because of the softness. Thank you again for all you do..
I love these videos. I'm a mother of two and even just the drug store makeup breaks the bank now-a-days. I love seeing what is similiar to the high end things I dream of buying. that's why I subscribed to your channel, I love that you don't put down drugstore items.
I have a couple of the L’oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire and love them. The applicator isn't great, but the color and consistency are awesome. I find that even after the glossy part wears off, they leave a nice stain.
I just found your channel, and I foresee a chain watching session coming. Love your personality and honesty! And you're so pretty! Off to watch the rest of your videos...
I totally thought that the other side was the cheap dupes side because of the blush being so perfect on the right side of your face and the other side looking a teeny bit chalky.. love your videos, you're the only beauty girl that I am constantly checking with for new videos!!
Love this dupe video. Options are great, it isn't always about the money but I love knowing alternatives. I'm doing my best to buy cruelty free, so I'd still choose Too-Faced over Rimmel, for example. Anything I can buy that's cheap AND cruelty free makes my day.
I love the lorrel lip glosses! I got one at the end of summer and I was a little sceptical because it was on clearance at target but I decided to try it out. Now it's one of my favorite lipgloss, and what's great about it is that it's on clearance constantly!
I agree about the laura mercier I bought it with the notion of it being like aaaaahhhh the clouds will part and the heavens are gonna shine through...but honestly it was more like a ting ray shining through a rain cloud
I guessed the correct side!! Mostly because I thought the cheek pigments showed up better. It looks like the powder on the drugstore side made the skin look smoother, but I contributed that to how lighting was placed on that side.
Thank you +Jessica Braun | JAMbeauty89 for existing. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being real and goofy and a trustworthy source of makeup info. I always love watching you. Muah!
I haven't seen many of your dupe videos but this one was excellent. There are a ton of products I want to go out and try now. Thanks for the recommendations!
I needed this video because I've been watching all those best of 2015 videos and they're 90% high end products that I will never buy. I'm definitely adding some of these to my phone list!
You totally fooled me on which side was high end and which was dupes! I had guessed the other way around! Great job finding dupes that I haven't seen on youtube yet!
Hey Jessica! I was wondering if you could please do your skincare routine for us. I'm looking for new products and I really have enjoyed a lot of the makeup you have recommended. I was curious to see what you use! (:
I really appreciate you mentioning formula dupes. With the vast majority of colors, finding a similar shade isn't hard. It's the formula I always wonder about!
I have a list of products I want to buy too! The Laura Mercier powder is on that list but I'm totally going to try the Sonia Kashuk first! Thanks for the tip! :)
high end vs low aint just about the look of it but the texture on the face, the quality, oiliness, how skin- healthy it is for you, how long it lasts, how long till it creases ect... Also its the experience of applying it to the face, and with high end products it just feels so much more nice and beautiful than a foundation that cost 10 quid. still... love ur vid! lots will find it helpful!
Well I totally got that WRONG! OMGosh the dupe side is absolutely flawless, soft and so natural and pretty! Of course, both are beautiful but Youve got me over here making my dupe list of must haves on my phone girl! XO!
I'm cracking up that this video was just recommended to me. Been subbed to Jess since way before this and it's funny to see how much she really hasn't changed! ❤️
thanks for the video! xoxo love dupes💞 I've found that alot of times the cheaper one will even perform better. I was clueless as to which side was which lol
