I did the install myself in our off grid cabin so easy. I bought whale hand faucet and camco rv/van drain for ease of install. Husband was thoroughly impressed. Appreciate the help
I'm pleasantly surprised by how much water it pumps out! Makes complete sense in terms of power savings, water savings, initial costs and noise. Everyone's a winner! I shall be buying one 😀
This is by far my favorite sink build! Nice job! I’m going to do this in my future cabin-style. Was wanting the foot pump for same reason and the sunken sink.
Really enjoyed the sink and tap build video. Top marks. A quick tip to share with like-minded viewers about bending copper pipe from my apprentice days years ago. My college teacher showed me to use fine dry sand to fill the pipe and then seal the two ends with end caps. It did the job beautifully. Somehow I enjoyed the water-filled pipe bending much more.....
love the trying to bend pipe- did make me smile guys :) ...all the yrs ive made my vans, ive never put a pump in, for this last van i do have a whale pump,!!! i never installed it...hahaha...im very basic kinda nomad!! :) i did how ever get taps that went with my 2nd hand sink from caravan breakers and put them in place..hahaha so looks like i have flowing water, but always used water bottles/containers and my sink goes out to floor, and when not parked in wild places, i keep spare bottle to store/then dispose of ! coz im doing a refurb , im changing lots of bits /bobs...so it may well get used now !! :) love to u guys **********************
Haha! Honestly though it would work... but it gave us such a good chuckle at how silly it was that we had to include it in the video. You need to get that pump installed so those taps can be utilised! How is the sink drain hole? We were too scared to make another hole underneath but might add it later on and it seems pretty helpful when you can just let it run away. Thanks so much for watching all our videos!
@@OurWildHorizons hey lovelys, yeh i just used a hole cutter that went in drill(borrowed off me mate, then did what i did with vent holes where my gas bottle is,file smooth, painted with hammerite, then i used the pipe with the ridges/but changed it, better to use smooth pipe,( coz its not very hygenic and can collect bits of food etc in ridges..)then it hangs couple of inchs longer underneath, and i just pull it up inside if in built up place,i know what you mean cutting holes in van, but ive found as long as you treat the metal its fine, i always give it a few coats, and make sure really dry b4 i pushed pipe thru! I LOVE watching your videos, makes me smile so much...i looked at your blog page too...totally amazing...and pics :) iv been thinking of maybe starting my own channel to share a 'REBUILD' project 13yrs later, as never had the chance to share then !!just unsure how too, and what to film with etc...but thought others may be inspired to take on older vans etc...Hope i meet u on the road one day...take care sending good ,good vibes ******
Thanks! This personally is the 5th vehicle I’ve lived in over the past 7 years of travelling full time 😊 (my first conversion though) so I knew exactly what I wanted :) thanks for watching! - Beth
you need a special bending tool and freeze the water inside to keep it from kinking it pipe, a lot of work for maybe results. I really like the 90 degree fittings.
@@OurWildHorizons aka soft copper pipe the pipe you're using is called ridged copper pipe the soft copper type usually comes rolled up in a flat cardboard box or shrink wrapped plastic at least thats the case here in the usa
I have one of these for our camper as well but the only thing I was surprised about is that it’s kind of hard to push the foot pump. There’s a spring inside it and doesn’t have as much give as I thought it would.
@@OurWildHorizons Yes I have the same one Whale Baby foot and it just seemed so stiff so I took it apart (unscrewed the hose clamp that holds it together) and has a helper spring that helps it pop back.
How gorgeous, I love this! What a beautiful sink you've created. Do you still have the written version of this along with more information and photos of each step? The link did not work. Thanks so much!
Hi! thank you so much!! I did use to have a written version but I had to delete it as I didn't have enough space on my website and it was too expensive to upgrade it. But I am working on it :) we have some more footage of this set up in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rm22CfER6xs.html :)
You can get q tool that bends pipe you do know that also the bent way to bend copper pipe is to put water in it and freeze it then bend it. Or use pex pipe it bends its what its made for to ben its bendable copper
Ah thanks for the info. We didn’t want to buy or hire anything we didn’t need to to keep costs as low as possible but the ice method seems pretty cool! We’re actually glad it failed the since we live the finish product 😀
Hi what is the adapter you used for your waste pipe to the hose for the waste water? I have looked for dishwasher fittings etc but can’t find the size to link them both up. I have a 1 3/4 outlet from my waste plug. Thanks!
I'd really like to see the FLOW rate of the pump...Whale also makes a foot operated bilge pump that may have more flow but is a bit expensive.. thanks..
Ohh I have no idea about that sorry but when we first put it in I was very impressed with how fast it comes out. We filled a 2 litre jug in seconds to test it out ☺️
Nice I did the same with my van but my water doesn’t come out as quickly as yours. I’m using 3/8 inner diameter hose and wondering if that’s the reason?
Hmm I have no idea what's stopping your pressure, maybe it is the hose. We know someone who has a foot pump and a filter but that kills the pressure too. Sorry I can't be of more help!
@@OurWildHorizons sure, thats clear from the video, but thats just the inlet right? It looks to me like the hose from foot pedal to the water tank, but doesn't show the hose you are pushing it from clean water tank to the sink. thanks, appreciate the extra detail support!
Thanks for the great videos. I'm just starting the kitchen in our camper conversion and have the same foot pump. Is it annoying to have to open the door to get to the pump? Wondering if I should make it more accessible in some way
We were contemplating putting a “mouse hole” in at the beginning but we decided against it to keep it better looking. Doesn’t bother us, it’s only a quick open of the door when we need the water and washing up we just prop it open 😀
You needed a pipe bender that you could have borrowed from the hardware store you bought the pipe at. I like the idea and will do this myself with smaller pipe You can even use 3/8" brass pipe which polishes up nice. Thumb's up :o)
Heya, this is such an excellent set up! Thank you for making this video this has helped me a lot. Just a question please; I’m trying to replicate your setup - do you have the link to the under sink overflow attachment you have put on there to connect to your 13mm flexible waste hose at all? Is this just a standard sink size fitting (universal) or did this only fit your sink? Thanks a lot x
Ah no, sorry! We went to B&Q with part of the attachment and then just tried all the ones until we found something that fit, sorry i can’t be of more help!
I love you Guys !! your videos are fun easy to understand and so helpful. And I love the humility you both have it great. Wats the name of the foot pump
Thank you so much! That means the world to us :) The foot pump is called a Whale babyfoot pump, there is a link for it in the description of the video so you can find the exact one :) xx
Thank you! It was 13mm yes. The copper pipe is 15mm. I had to heat the hose to make it flexible enough to force around the copper pipe then it cooled tightly and I used a jubilee clip to make it extra secure. It was difficult but we can be sure it won’t leak!
Did you run into the issue of water not sucking from the water tank? Insist hooked everything up and there’s no water coming up the hose at all when I pump. Wondering if you have advice if experienced?
No we’ve never had that issue. Maybe the hoses are installed the wrong way if there’s no water pumping at all? Or perhaps the tubing doesn’t reach the bottom of the water tank? That sounds strange and I’m not sure what else it could be but I hope you find the reason soon!
Hello guys! I did a lot of researchg but can't find what I'm looking for. I wish to have a water set-up like in your van. COuld you please tell me if that's 10, 15, or 25 L you have? Also where did you buy it please?

Hi! This video was so extremely helpful! My only question is: How much did this cost? I can't find a solid answer online and I'd more or less replicate your set-up, so the price you guys paid will probably be similar to mine. As a college student, I'm on a really tight budget!
Ooh we can't remember but I think it was very close to £100 all together. (not including the work top) The sink was £50, the jerry cans were £10 each, the pump was £30, then the pipe and tubes were maybe another £10. We're still so happy with it a year on 😊 Thank you for watching! You can definitely make it work on a budget 😊
Hi guys! thanks for you very helpful video! Could you share the links where you bought the sink as well as the plumbing? P.S. the amazon link to the sink is different than the one you bought and not as good :(
Ah thank you for watching! Oh I just had a look everywhere and I can't find it on eBay or Amazon anymore but it's called ENKI KS016 Undermount Sink and Amazon seller must have changed his options. There are some results on google but not ones I can see a purchase option for. Hope that leads you in the right direction at least!
Hey, du you guys have any idea what the averege water pressure is with that kind of footpump? I wonder if it would be compatible with a water filter that needs 2.1 bar minimum? Greetings from austria
Odd question…. But I think I got exactly the same sink for my build but I can work out all the piping with it?! That little knobbly bit you called your overflow is sealed on mine? Did you cut the end off so you could attach it to piping?
Our overflow pipe connects to the main drain pipe with a piece that came with the sink. Sorry we can’t help you out! As it all goes into one pipe for us
Yes we used 13mm :) This is the pipe we got: amzn.to/36b2hST We had to use a heat gun to put it on! lucky we could borrow a heat gun as it was the only way we could get it on! :) This is the pump we got: amzn.to/36cNszg
@@OurWildHorizons thanks. Good to know heat gun required! Can you share some more information on your waste pipe/drain set up. I'm in the process and struggling with the right size connections etc!
@@sophielegere6852 hi :) We just found something that fit when we went into B&Q, I think it will completely depend on what sink you have. Ours was a waste over flow fitting that just happened to fit out sink. So I would reccomend taking some measurements and having a look in a shop at all the fittings :) Thats what we did. hope this helps!
Do you mean the corners of the faucet? They’re just compression elbow fittings which I tightened with a spanner. There’s a copper olive in there too prevent leaks. Hope that answers your questions, if not I’ll try again!
Thank you! We talked about it in our van tour video but we basically have a portable shower which we can use outside. Otherwise we'll use a public shower, shower at a campsite or a beach shower if it's warm enough. Sometimes we'll just have a sink wash but we make sure we're clean somehow! You can see the full tour here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lQw7QpJWyDI.html Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! each of our water containers are 25L and we use them both for fresh water now. Also we have about seven 8L bottles in the cab area so we have enough! if you have a shower in the van I dont think this would be suitable as an only set up :) Its good for drinking, washing up and the odd bucket wash :)
Looks great! I'm a tad curious about the diameter of pipes & tubing you used. What's the internal diameter of the tubing connected to the footpump? And what size copper pipe did you use?
Thank you!! The tubing was 13mm and the copper pipe is 15mm. I had to apply heat to make the tubing have enough flex to be forced onto the copper pipe. (which I then secured with a jubilee clip to make sure it doesn't come off) It was hard work forcing it on but it works; haven't had any issues with it in the last 9 months!
Excellent!! Thank you very much for clearing that up. I'm currently putting together my own sink and nominal widths/I.Ds were getting me a tad confused.
Hi! lovely project really well done! One question: I would like to combine a foot pump (I don't want to use electricity for the tap) with a pull-out faucet. Does anyone have an idea if this is feasible? Can it be done? Thanks guys!
As long as you can attach the pump to the pipes leading to the pull out faucet I imagine it’ll work the same! If it’s dual temperature only one side of it might work depending on the faucet you get. Thank you for watching! 😃
@@OurWildHorizons Can you tell me, rather than have a wide open copper pipe where the water comes out, is there enough pressure with this foot pump that if I fashioned a nozzle with multiple holes like a salt shaker, would the water come out in a spray with a little pressure behind it, like a rain style overhead showerhead?
Hi I'm also trying to replicate this setup, already got the Whale Foot pump and 13mm hose. What diameter copper pipe did you use and where did you get it from? I'm really struggling to find copper pipe with a small enough diameter
We used 15mm pipe and we got it from Selco. But I think you can source it in Wickes/B&Q maybe even took station off you have any of those nearby? It’s takes a lot of force to wedge the hose on to the pipe but that’s what we did 😊
