If you're looking for a great higher end feeling Mockingbird without breaking the bank, I highly recommend the Special X models. When they come around you can usually get them as low as $350. With a neck thru body, Rockfield pickups, carved maple top with a quilt maple veneer, Grover tuners, ebony fretboard etc... These things are bad ass. I've collected them for awhile.
Was your Jackson an older model? I know that Jackson has improved their quality quite a bit over the years. BC Rich however have increasingly went down in quality from what I’ve heard. I’ve heard nothing but good things about older BC Rich models however.
The Jackson was 07 or 08, the BC rich was somewhere between 03 and 05. The BC rich came stock with flimsy machine heads, the Jacksons biggest challenge was the pick ups and bad wiring. I think at the bottom end price wise Jackson is still quite blah but as you pay a little more, up in around $500 US you get a decent guitar. As for BC Rich there are not alot of 'em being made anymore, very hard to find budget BC rich nowadays, but there are few custom shops licensed to make BC rich at least that is where BC Rich is to my knowledge.
@@ravenshadevox you can find cheap Chinese BC Rich's the ones made in Korea are OK, Japan's models are a bit better but the best are made here in the US of A. Either way, they are trying to make a comeback, Jackson's Dinky model is quite cheap and pretty good.
Before I got my 1st guitar i wanted a Jackson. Tried one out and didn't like how wide & flat the necks were on most of the Jackson's. Also, i didn't like the tone. I tried a B.C. Rich and instantly felt comfortable with it. And the tone on the Rich was way more clean & clear!
I have a high opinion of Jackson guitars. I have a JS11 which is about the cheapest Jackson you can buy, but it's a nice guitar. Good tone and great to play, way better than most of the more expensive guitars. It puts to shame any Squier. But that Kelly you have there does not sound too good. Although it seems out of tune most of the time you are playing it, so maybe that's the problem. I am kinda wondering what a setup and restring would do for it. Right now my JS11 sounds better than both of them.
Its str8 good guitar parts im a new york to florida death metal kinda guy. Been playing for a little bit went to prison and am keeping clean by the shred.but i do have a question im broke and i have only ever had used junk and im stuck between a brand new jackson js warrior or a used in great shape bc rich avenge sob.i have had both brands but i was a kid so what do you think
I bought one of these Jacksons in the same colour for a mere £50 sterling. So far the tuning appears way more stable and the sound seems a bit better than in the video too, I was expecting much worse from the pickups. According to the serial number it was made in 2005. I guess the quality is variable, or mines been setup better by the previous owner. I do fancy a Mockingbird though!
Probably a good previous owner. Even a cheap guitar if taken care of will be good to a person for good long time. I was the only owner of the BC rich in this video and the Jackson had at least 2 owners before me. This is quite possibly why I personally had a better experience with the BC Rich.
Actually this guitar had been hanging on a wall for two years and the PO didn't touch it. It has a fairly big ding on the face and various other cosmetic damage here and there. It has the same wiring/earth issue which I didn't notice til I started cranking the gain. But actually I like to use these metal-looking guitars for more jazzy sounding chord work, I like that cognitive dissonance when people expect me to start shredding but get mellow sounds and comping instead lol. Still though for £50 - which is not much more than the cost of a night down the pub these days, I think I got a pretty sweet deal. I reckon it's a great base to mod into something, I'm thinking a graphite nut, some locking tuners and better pickups, maybe Iron Gear actives.
probably only find them used for the most part, some small guitar shop might have old stock of them but I am pretty sure that they are out of mass production.
Jackson sounds worse and is very upset. There is no merging of sounds into the desired chord. Is this basswood casJackson sounds worse and is very upset. There is no merging of sounds into the desired chord. Is this basswood case?
