Great advice. I think people forget many homes in Portugal have been there for a hundred years or more. Its been traditionally poor for a long while (nice to see it rallying now) This means people over the generations have "patched" repairs as they can afford at the time. Cheap to purchase compared to many countries, yes, depending on area. Prices in coastal towns are all time high now! So you need to factor in a lot of Euros for necessary habitable repairs.. Also prove your income & having enough to support yourself for life including medical.

Thank you! Yes, you can buy property remote even if your visa is not ready. However you have to have a Poetugurse NIF when buying. We nededed also a bank account but we took a mortgage. 👍

I am enjoying your videos. I am a Canadian living in Finland until get my EU card. Portugal is high on my list to continue my European adventure. We have light fixtures here that plug into the ceiling. Do they have the same in Portugal? Not a big deal, just curious to know if I should bring the lights and or the electric boxes to use them? Your videos are informative. Have you posted anything in or near Caldas da Rainha?

Hi Susan, light fixture that plug into the sealing like you would in a wall I haven't seen. They have normal light fixtures that are fixed in the sealing but not plugged and you cannot remove them to plug it someplace else. Unfortunately we haven't yet visit Caldas da Rainham as we mainly are located in Algarve, but we hope soon! Thank you for watching! :)

If a property has pig stays or donkey pens or any animal shelter, can you apply to have it converted and registered for human habitation. I have seen some "schist " (spelling ?) that could be converted. Thanks you in anticipation.

Interesting. As said previously, your English is superb. I perhaps maybe would be interested in a building to turn into a backpackers hostel, on the outskirts of a population centre. Visiting Portugal for a holiday for the first time next week, so just a vague possible idea at this stage, but then, once upon a time, Disneyland was a vague possible idea.
