Join me as I craft my own home Knife and machine shop. My goal is to improve self sufficiency in all homesteading, survival and maker skills. You can do it also. I have been using carpet in tool boxes since before they invented toolbox liners. still using the first one I installed 52 years ago. Never had one go bad, unlike some toolbox liners.

I only started doing it a couple years ago. Won't do it any other way now. Every toolbox gets this treatment. 4 so far now.

I did the same thing to my toolbox. But I used a green mat instead since the black or dark grey made the drawers consume light lol. Cheap and effective.

I'll look for the green next time just for fun. I have done about 10 box's like the video. Green would be fun for the next one.

I have 8 boxes and have tried a number of liners including outdoor carpeting. The non-perforated liner material from HFT is the best I've found. Holds the tools like glue. Reasonably priced, as well. Kills the liners in my MAC cart. Over time I've replaced the liners in all of my boxes with the HFT product. It's that good.

Have you used Yoga Mat? I might purchase some of that if I can find it in a solid color like black or gray. I did notice the HF stuff is thicker. Normal toolbox liner ignorant. Always ends up slipping around. It's not liner, it's just something to get your money that feels like you're getting liner. I might try the HF stuff at some point. I have many toolboxes. I just did two Kennedy bases in carpet.

Harbor freight is still the best for me as well. I bought a liner on Amazon but it's like foam. HFT has grooves in it and is rubber. Not very thick but does the job and it's the least expensive of all of them.

A friend of mine worked at place that had lots of those mats and when slightly worn tossed out. I got a bunch and lined my boxes. If it gets dirty, make another!

Just today unloaded a used 40" 14 drawer version with Ball Bearing slides! Yipee! Tossing out the liners it came with and doing in floor mat because it is sooooooo much better. Thanks for watching!

Looks like it will work well and on the cheap. Never considered a rat trap a tool but after thinking about it I guess it really is. Lol.

Did I put a trap in the new box? Now I have to go look. There is a lot of misc in that box. It fits my spot great. Need to get busy and make a top.

Yeah, have fun with all your tools sliding to the back of the drawers every time you close them. Looks nice, feels nice, but bottom line is you need non slip liners in tool box drawers or else your tools just slide around everywhere.

That's weired, why would you put carpet in your toolbox drawer? When it get dirty and dusty it will be hard to see and clean.

We have these magical things here in Ohio. Flashlights and Dyson's. Just kidding. I love it this way. Never go back to toolbox liner. They all move. This never does.

In a shop where production is the goal, little care is taken to open and close drawers gently. Other words, in an environment where the tools and box serve the worker, workers worshiping their tools and boxes have no place and little use. It is function over fluff in an actual reality environment.

Oh this is reality. I do as I please and this pleases me. I use this space commercially for a 3D Printing business where I net a full time wage in addition to my fill time job. This is completely real. Under the principles of human Liberty, it's important to know, so long as you infringe on no other, what you are doing is absolutely correct if it serves your own self interest. Get to work on the workshop of your dreams. I am working on mine. But I dream big so I may never get there.
