Try a LMR-400 cable. The cable you bought has high db attenuation. The LMR-400 cable is a low capacitance / low loss rated. The cable will cost a little more but you should be able to move the antenna up to 100 feet / 30 meters without loss. I have experienced large improvements using LMR-400 and a yagi antenna like you showed in the video at 2:35.

You and so many others think this is a better approach at learning? I feel sad for future generations. So you think you “saved” others time by posting your myopic assumption as a final result? Then people like you accept your assessment instead of making there own determination? Not good. Just be watching this fully, others have determined that there are ways to make this work. One is the quality of the cable, as others have made this work perfectly with better cable. There is also the placement of the antennas which were not stated nor shown. He probably had these laying flat on a table since they have no built in stand. These antennas are designed to stand up and sprees the signal out from the sides. If his placement was poor then that alone could have reduced the signal strength. Watching this video in it’s entirety is good for developing an analytical mind. You’ve done harm and no favors.

should of tried connecting 2.4ghz as a lot of the exiension like the ones u had , some have a small black base at the end and fix the antenna to that side and other end in router like described , But ive noticed in the description of these extension leads listings , always seem to mention 2.4ghz , so im Guessing' there not great or fully compatibe in boosting 5ghz
@armstrongskyview2810
@armstrongskyview2810 2 года назад
Wrong, the cable for 2.4 and 5ghz is the same. Its the quality of the cable that will enable or not the ability to remote the antenna. The cable used in the video was not sheilded and the antenna placement was not matching the receiver. there must be symitry with the polorisation.

I have the same cable and I got the same results. But when you do use the cable and put the antenna right next to a smartphone or PC and I mean like 1 inch away you get very great speeds. Before in my bedroom speeds at best were 14 mbps now they get 26 mbps. Could it be the antenna we are using?

bro in order to get a better test on the cable you need to do the test when you are at the furthist distenc that your signul will alow and do the test whith the origanel antennas and then againe in the same spot put the extenchions on and then run the test again and if you have the antennas to close to one another it will mess with your band with you want to make sure that you move the antennas as far away from one an outher for best results !

Another thing to consider is that the antennas need to be pointing upwards, in order to make a circular signal out to the sides. If you extend it with a cable, and then i.e. lay them down on the table, all the energy will go into the table and up into the ceiling, as the sides now lay horizontal and project vertically.

Coax has losses, connecting coaxial cables will degrade the signal more, thats why antennas are better on the radio itself. Coax is a no no for 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

Its very simple just keep your external antenna cable run as short as possible? You can do this by placing the router in a loft or high point in the building but running the short length antenna cable to an external antenna lashed to a mast or wall bracket (bi polar omni directional antenna is best with good signal areas). It is then just a case of running a single long ethernet cable from your router to your computer or to a switch or 2nd bridged router if you have other networked devices like NAS servers and printers or you require wifi as well. The advantage of this is that there will be no signal loss whatsoever through the ethernet cable which is both cheaper and faster for this intended purpose than doing it the other way by running very long coax cables from the router to the antenna.

True... but on the contrary I found this cable useful for my wifi security camera 😊

I had one that looks very much like yours but the Ethernet maxes out at 100 MB on the one I had. I get 170 MB from my ISP and so you can see why I returned it and got an Archer C7. The C7 was not all that expensive either, maybe 20 or 30 more than the other one I had but well worth it. It is a one time cost if you can avoid messing with it and bricking it.

@@rtechreviews It also leaves plenty of room for any spikes in speed caused by inconsistencies in their network and makes me future-proof to a certain extent at least for internet speed. Note that when I first started using their service I was paying for 100 megabits and with my old ancient Actiontec that was all I was getting from Ethernet (or 30 in another room if I was lucky). Having gotten a better router has opened my eyes to the possible extra speed they allow. They may have overprovisioned the speed to guarantee that you would get 100 megabits most of the time. That is because people love to complain and if they don't get what they paid for the phone lines at the ISPs would be flooded with dissatisfied customers requesting line checks and service calls. I am on a cable modem and it is possible to slow the whole network in the general area for all people on the same line but it is no easy feat, especially if your ISP thinks of you and invested in good equipment.

You dont mention position of router setting on a base or attached to wall setting on a base with antennas perpendicular to router is best im tols for signal strength is that right or wronf.
@georgeindestructible
@georgeindestructible 3 года назад
This is only useful with cases where you have to get the antenna into a place where the router can't be at and also in cases where you have to use signal boosters which require their own power otherwise these cables, even the best, with distance the signal loss and interference can become a severely limiting factor.

You may want to try this test with cables that are thicker because the thicker wires are more resistant to outside noise. Your cables seem to be a little thin compared to other ones so that may be why you have poor performance.

There are many flaws in his testing and we can’t even see how he placed the antennas (that have no built in stands). The placement of the antennas are very important. Also, like many have said here, using inferior cables will also make it seem like remote antennas do not work. There is nothing honest about this attempt. If anything he is deceiving even if he doesn’t mean to.
