This video will show you you cheap solution for reducing or eliminating the Front Fork banging sound on Razor MX650, MX500, SX500, Indian & RSF650. #razormx650 #razormx500 #razorsx500
Parts & Tools listed below:
Rubber washers used:
Inside Diameter = 8mm (5/16 inch)
Outside Diameter = 15mm (5/8 inch)
Where to buy rubber washer:
ACE Hardware or True Value (bring in bolt an size up grommets for $2)

Tools used:
5mm hex bit
18 inch hex bit extension

Alternative tool: 18mm socket extension with 5mm hex bit socket (but this is annoying as it falls into the fork tube)

Hey brother you said 18 inch extension in the video the link in the description has the biggest size as 12 so I'm guessing I buy the 12 in the six

Any tips or video on how to loosen brakes on mx500? They are rubbing against the caliper, can't move the bike at all unless your throttling. I basically got to remove brakes in order to get full performance out of bike. Loosening the cable is not making the brakes open up.

There is a knob on the caliper with knurling that can be turned by hand to adjust the caliper float in a out. some minor adjustments should do the trick to stop squeeking

have the same issue after i added rubber washers. i thought i did something wrong so i even tried removing the wheel and re-fitting it but still the disc brake is rubbing against the brake pad. did you find a solution other than removing the brake all together?

@@SuSaSaSr Funny because I removed my brake. There is a knob on the brake just twist it to adjust how far it is from the caliper.

Any info on the several hundred dollar upgrade? I'm looking for real hydro forks to match up with other upgrades. Figured you might already know what would fit correctly.

It damped the sound for the most part. Only a slight bang when I hit a rounded curb up a driveway going fast. But it def helped.

Glad I could help. The other option is spend $200-$300 for new fork but IMO it’s not worth it for razor

What size spring do you think that is? I wanted to upgrade the spring inside and just wanted to know the dimensions. BTW your videos helped me tremendously with all my builds. #razorgod

I am not sure what size the spring is. I have seen other people remove the spring and take it to Ace Hardware or TruValue and size up the spring with ones in stock and install them. I personally think the spring rate is good from the OEM its just the bang on re-coil is annoying

Hey dude appreciate the video. I recently picked up a 650 to mod but obviously the first thing to do is unbang the forks until thhey get replaced. I'm having an issue. Either the Lowes version of grommets don't work or I'm doing something wrong. If i don't tighten all the way it works and no more banging. But I watched another video where he tightened his forks until tight but if i do that the top grommet always goes through the bolt head leaving the washer up against the head and the second grommet. Is it me or the grommet? Thanks!

You’ve had so much experience taking these bikes apart… I’m wondering if you think this shock upgrade procedure could done without removing the front fork? Could I just rest the bike upside down and remove the bolt to add the rubber washers… or would the spring inside the tube cause resistance that would make that impossible?

you can flip the bike upside down and add the rubber washers. I have done 3 bikes that way. In the video I hade and extra fork I was demonstrating on

Would the front rim from a mx500 fit sx500. So trying to upgrade from 10 to 12"

wouldnt it make more sense to just stop it from bottoming out in the first place by increasing the spring size along with bushings? not really removing the problem, just making it sound better. still useful though so appreciated.

I have done longer springs and sometimes they still recoil and top out and make bang sound. Also the king springs makes the bike taller and not sit quite right. But to each there own

Get the electro and co razor 5000 watt kit it’s 870 bucks for the 48 volt lite (38mph) the highest goes up to 50mph and that kit is the 72 volt one but it’s about 1200 bucks with the kit

Also don’t ride it on the street til you are 16 and have a motorcycle license. You will get pulled over and get fined. It’s a class 2 vehicle meaning you can ride it on the street if you are 16 have a motorcycle license and it has headlights and turn signals so he’s it’s a class 2 vehicle it’s illegal to drive or ride it on the street you can however drive or ride it on the bikers lane

The banging happens even over small bumps… it’s not when the shock is fully compressed and bottomed out, but rather when the shock recoils or is un-sprung
