With vinyl record prices going up and up, here are some great albums that you can still find for around $5-$10.

15:11 - 😆😆😆 I have AJA on CD, yet I felt like listening to the LP version, so I borrowed it from the library - anyway, I can't even look at the cover art without remembering seeing you toss it to the side and declaring "yeah, this is horrible!"😅 Disagree as I do, I still thought it was funny. I still love the album, but I appreciated the good laugh, too.

Back in the 1990’s thru the 2000’s, I bought used Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, The Police, Pink Floyd, and The Who albums for less than 10 dollars apiece. It’s amazing how the prices went up in the past 10 years.

Yeah I don't understand it either, records that sold a bazillion copies are now fetching outrageous prices. You're right about the Moody Blues their WHOLE catalogue can be had for 6 dollars and 34 cents. Canned Heat's "Future Blues" is a GREAT L.P. Also if you want to start a RU-vid channel about music and need a background of albums, to give the impression that you are some kinda music aficionado you can buy Jim Nabors, Mitch Miller, and Herb Alpert records, buy some shelves and make it look like you've got a shit ton of L.P's then spew your non-sense about the 10 records no rock and roll fan can be without. Of course I'm not talking about you Robert, I love your channel. But there are so many channels here in the RU-vid wilderness of the people I'm talking about that consider their taste to be the epitome of knowledge.

Not a fan of the Croce material, but i do have his Best Of cd in my collection. This may seem a bit loopy, but is true. My father was a longtime ballroom manager in Iowa during the early 50’s-early 70’s. He would receive promo albums from management agencies pushing their artists’ latest work. Most of these bands were from the midwest region, but not always. I’m reminded by your mention of Future Blues by Canned Heat. I was 11 or 12 at the time (‘71-‘72) when the record was handed off to me. I was not a big blues fan at that age, but i did bash about to “Let’s Work Together” on drums. I completely got ahead of myself here. Back to my original point as related to Croce: My father was also a former Air Force Vet from WW2 era. He operated a charter service with his Beechcraft Bonanza single-engine to help provide for our large (5 kids) family in addition to the ballrooms. He died in an accident not far from home. 8/16/73. Croce would die just over a month later. Elvis passed 8/16/77.

This is my kind of video. I love the inexpensive gems. You could probably dedicate an entire channels worth of content to sharing these types of albums with people. Sadly, what makes certain albums super expensive has nothing to do with the quality of the music, performance, etc. Sometimes it's alll about "who" decided an album is "expensive". And good choice on the Fat Mattress LP. BOTH of their LPS are actually incredible. Not only can you find them super cheap, you can find them super cheap in excellent condition!

These would _eventually_ be replaced by CD versions, and are now very plentiful on Discogs. Two British soul albums were literally there for the taking - _So Good_ by *Mica Paris* and _To Whom It May Concern_ by *The Pasadenas.* Both in tip-top condition, and both for only £2 plus shipping. I feel like a lot of prog is a good example of this. ELP, Yes, Genesis after 1974, camel, and more can all be found for under 10 bucks

I noticed an overabundance of j.geils band albums in the budget bin. Pre freeze frame ( freeze frame sucks). I'm talking 70s j geils. Great band.

Earth Wind and Fire. A whole run of 70s and early 80s albums - all solid. Easily available for around $5. Ditto Nazareth, great band.

Procol Harum is fantastic and cheap. I have been thinking along similar lines to you. Picked up two Glen Campbell records on capitol for nix, and they are a good listen. I agree with you about " Aja ", gave it the benefit of a listen. I thought i must have streamed the wrong album as i thought it was terrible. After hearing so much about it.

Do you like any other SD records? I think Aja is good, but overrated.

Yeah, it's really surprising how cheap Pretenders albums are - especially the first album - but as you say, it's probably only a matter of time. The Fever Tree album has always been undervalued. San Francisco Girls is such an underrated single. Amazingly I have yet to go on a deep dive with any those Croce albums. His singles are so great, I really need to take your advice and grab that stuff while it's still priced...er...as it should be.

Croce is great. It was playing on mixed tapes and the radio all the time as a kid, and I later heard the deeper cuts as an adult. Those Pretenders records are also awesome.

I have noticed the same phenomenon with Michael Jackson's "Thriller" that is going on with albums like "Rumours" and Boston's 1st. Another album that sold millions and millions of copies; actually, 1 of the greatest selling albums of all time! And people are paying $20 and up for this? No, really, there are MILLIONS of copies out there, a person shouldn't pay more than $5-$6. Madness! But on the "still affordable" side of things, I've noticed Traffic LPs are still abundant and cheap; same with Spirit. If I have a hankering for another rockin' Johnny Winter LP from the '70s, they are cheap and plentiful! Gotta strike when things aren't "hip."

Actually, for the old Steve Miller Band, I went the "new" way. Sound of Vinyl had a sale early January and those were $8 a piece.. and there was a 20% discount coupon on top of that.. hard to pass. If there's one I really like, I might seek a OG or in that era press but I think I'll be ok. I got Children of the Future, Sailor, Brave New World, Your Saving Grace, Number 5, and Rock Love, Recall The Beginning and I even grabbed Selections From The Vault. I have The Joker album, I like it but I hate the title song.

I have both of their mid 70s releases scorching beauty and sun and steel on mca. Both featured Phillip Taylor Kramer who wound up missing for years until his body was finally found. Neither of them are really that good.

I just bought a copy of seventh sojourn. The last of the classic moody blues albums. It's still my favorite album by them. Paid $1.99 for it. It looked a little rough, but I cleaned it up and it plays fine. Not a fan of the first moody blues album? You mean the one with Denny lane? Or days of future past?

Robert! May I suggest Whipped Cream and Other Delights as a "still reasonable" choice? Even the deep cuts have an irresistible jauntiness.

As far as sound, production and listenability, Aja is a top 10 of the 70's album, up there with Dark Side of the Moon & Billy Joel's "The Stranger".
