These are the type of records that get people into the hobby. Don’t get me wrong, the stalwart titles we all hold in high regard are great but they are often expensive. Some of my favorite $10 records are Woody Shaw’s later work on Muse from the late 70s to early 80s! Great video, Chris!
Some really great tips thanks! One record that I would add is Echoes of an Era which is a good hard bop session on Elektra with Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, chick Corea, Lenny White and Chaka khan as vocalist. I think its still really cheap because it was marketed as a Chaka khan record
Love these types of videos where I can learn about new artists, titles and labels. Plus, $10 apiece for the win. I would add that many great Pablo records can be found for $10 or less. More like this, please.😊
My extensive jazz collection spans 1955-70 but most of these artists are new to me. I listened to these albums on Amazon Music Unlimited. IMHO Bobby Hutcherson's Knucklebean is the standout album. It's a joyous celebration of jazz. Highly recommended. Thanks!
Great video. There are SO many great jazz records that are ten bucks or less. I'd be interested in your take on the 80s output of Chico Freeman (whom you alluded to in this video), Arthur Blythe and David Murray.
Second that Joe Farrell record for the reason you provide: the cover is awful. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the performances.
thanks for this! made note for all these to check out/ look for, i already know id dig most of these though with out question and didnt know any of them.. (Amber Skies just having chick and airto alone is must pick up if i can find cheap).. i recently got into Joanne Brackeen after getting her Special Identity record for under 10 in great condition too.. its a pretty dry record but omg its good
Another great video. I always appreciate your direct point of view on titles. This also shows that you don't have to mortgage the house in order to purchase and enjoy great jazz. Thanks!
