Cheap Trick practiced six houses down from where I lived in Rockford, Illinois. They often played at the Illinois National Guard Armory, which I just discovered is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This is quite hilarious given the air quality of the place during concerts. I remember seeing Dr John there - and other bands, but due to my contributions to the indoor air quality, I don't recall who. Cheap Trick was definitely a garage band, and not much appreciated by many of my neighbors. 😆

To bad Pete was such a self destructive person, who couldn't comprehend how lucky he was to land this gig. He permanently burned the bridge, he had with the band, to the ground. It's a damn shame, because he was and probably still is very talented. Some people just can't get out of the way of themselves.
