No band ever has or ever will touch my soul and heart like Robin Zander and Cheap Trick🙌✨🖤🏁🤍🙌✨🙌 Thank you thank you thank you for the music of our youth and forevermore 😘🤘💞🙌✨
Just when I think Robin Zander's voice can't get any better along comes acoustic Fan Club and a truly amazing Best Friend. He MUST be the most talented singer in the history of the world! CT rock for ever! 🤗
Like Rick has said "The greatest lead singer in the whole wide World Mr.Robin Zander" The man of a thousand voices, and there all good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just the best imo, i am 60 years old i saw a lot of other really good bands and they were and some of them still are great bands and my hats off to all those other bands, imo these guys are the best, sometimes just hearing a good song you like over the radio or a cd just cant justify the really good sound of a live concert, seriously, if you ever get a chance you gotta go see these guys live you wont disappointed.
The way Tom watches and smiles at his friends as they play is always such a hoot. This show is kind of an "all grown up" version of how raw and driven they were on the Don Kirshner show - back when they were so hungry and raw. Back then they just quietly grinned as they humbled EVERY band on the bill with them. I love them at every stage and on any stage.
It's been well documented that Cheap Trick was a huge influence on Kurt Cobain/Nirvana, but the song "Best Friend" sounds like a Nirvana influence on Cheap Trick. Cheap Trick is the greatest band ever!!
Robin has such great range. They sound so different. Greatest band ever. They really seemed to be having fun. Robin's voice sounded a bit like Lennon, then like Daltry. Amazing concert.
1:45 Fan Club, 6:23 Oh Candy, 9:55 I Don't Love Here Anymore, 14:04 It All Comes Back to You, 17:53 Lookout, 21:16 Just Got Back, 24:04 Big Eyes, 27:58 If You Want My Love, 31:24 My Obsession, 34:48 I Want You to Want Me, 38:32 Words (?), 43:49 Best Friend, 48:06 Dream Police, 51:57 Scent of a Woman, 56:25 Surrender
Funny thing, i was thinking exactly the same the very right moment saw your comment. It still sounds Tom, but with a 4 string bass hahaha...ive been fan of Toms bass playing for many years.
@@adannarvaez Yup, me too, since the first time seeing them open for KISS in 1977. I personally have always thought that when Tom was playing his Chandler 12 string bass guitar is when he sounded the best. But after seeing them live over 25 times, I like his Greatch 12 string white falcon bass that he plays thru his Orange AD 200 amp. Just such a powerful unique bass sound
@@bartonpercival3216 I have been on a binge of late 70s/early 80s CT videos lately, and I am blown away how their sound was built onto the chassis of Tom's 12 string bass. Maybe not such a mystery that they were WAY less successful without it!
@@lgfbratwurst yup I agree. I know that when CT first started out in 73 Tom was mostly playing a Gibson Thunderbird 4 string bass, he didn't get his first real 12 string bass until the opening gig with KISS in 1977. That's when I first saw them in San Francisco at the Cow Palace as the opening act for KISS on August 16th 1977. I was truly blown away by their huge powerful sound. When Robin and Tom are sometimes both playing 12 string instruments and Ricks playing a 6 string, that's 30 strings of huge sound!!!!!!!!! 👍
I was there that night also and was excited to find this just now...loved acoustic I Don't Love Here Anymore too, first time hearing it since that night. Today, that place is Char Bar and among my favorite restaurants in town!
It's great to see this unedited From Tokyo to You. Cheap Trick is and has been my favourite band for over 30 years. Wish I could have seen them in the seventies. Unfortunately toddlers weren't admitted, none the less, can see them now and they have only gotten better anyway so... Love it when they come to Australia.
And I hear they are coming to Boston in either August or September in 2022. I'm so there!!!!! It will be my 26th show since my very first time seeing them when they opened for KISS in San Francisco in 1977
Just saw CT this Summer, 2023, on tour making stops throughout Pennsylvania. They haven't lost a bit of their excitement and talent. Robin still sounds as great as ever. Bunny now handles the financial end, and Robin's and Rick's sons are both on stage. Simply the best!
