Feel & sounds are married together. They’ve done test where they’ll have people wear headphones and they can’t feel the difference between clubs without the sound.
They’re ridiculous. I just got a TaylorMade TP literally the cheapest putter on the market at $200. On one club. You can buy whole iron sets on the used market for that much. That’s what doesn’t make sense to me I love the putter. Feels great. Much better than my last one. I’d love to say it’s worth the purchase but I can’t justify spending that much on one club. After ten years of inconsistency with putting using the same one I got a different one
Been using the same white steel Odyssey blade putter that I bought secondhand in highschool. Still loving it ~14 years later. I feel like swapping your putter could completely break your game, imo there is almost no advantage to upgrading the putter - as long as the one you have is somewhat decent obviously.
HUGE difference in those 2 strokes too by the way! The 30 putter was a soft swing, and he definitely dialed it up with the Taylor Made. Regardless the way you tell cheap vs expensive with putters is feel, weight, and balance!
Sound is secondary to me. For me a putter has to look good at address, feel good and be able to provide a smooth consistent stroke. I love my 2021 Anser 4, everything coming off the face sounds so soft and smooth and gets the ball rolling and over end. However, a lot of the sound depends on the type of milling and grooves used on the face of the putter as well as the face insert material if the putter has an insert.
I paid 1 dollar for my putter at a yard sale! Probably only got about 15$ into my whole club set! Im definitely not a great golfer by any means, but if i can get one or 2 pars per nine im happy!
I can putt just as good as most pros and my putter cost me $2 from a thrift store. Paying three or four hundred dollars for a putter does not necessarily make you Dave Stockton on the greens. I think name brand Drivers and Putters are the most over hyped, overpriced golf equipment on Earth.
I totally agree with you. Been picking up Tad Moore and T P Mills putters at Goodwill and pawn shops for anywhere from $2-25! Clean them and install grips and just as good as $500 heavily marketed "name brand" !!
All these people not understanding that expensive clubs are "supposed" to sound better. The big manufacturers literally engineer sound into their clubs and this is the result. Just goes to show you it's the craftsman, not the tool.
Idk why people spend $600 on a putter when there is almost no difference between a $80-$100 then the $600. I get why people buy better irons because that actually makes a difference but putter is all the golfers skill and nothing else.
I rock the Kirkland signature putter from Costco. It was under $100 it’s all about the golfer. When I see 30 handicaps rocking a $500 Scotty constantly 3 putting I just laugh at the poor bastards!
I have a 15 plus year old top flite kids putter that I use. Wouldn’t trade it in for anything, not even a $400 one. All about what works for u. Don’t be caught up in a name
I really don't get why y'all in the comments harping on a video that has no effect on your life. It's a fun little test mostly for the golfers ear. It's not that deep, relax, and move tf on.
Your equipment will never make you a better golfer. I use to be a custom fitter and when I was a young man I worked as pro shop staff from age 11 till I was around 25. I am a 8 handicap, mostly cuz I’m old. But when I go to the range with my equipment from the late 90s I look like a 2 handicap. I’m can’t afford new equipment but I don’t really need it; to play to my handicap and have fun. If you are just starting out, go to goodwill and get some clubs and hit those till you tattoo ball marks to the middle of the club face, and then go get fitted to the multi thousand dollar set.
