Cheap vs. Expensive Whiskey - Can Johnny Drinks Taste The Difference? 

To clarify the $120 OF miscommunication. We had a different bottle that we were supposed to use which was going to be more expensive. We apologize for the confusion! The bottle of OF 1920 is around $60-70. I’ll be changing the thumbnail ASAP!

That’s too easy the proof is miles apart

You guys should do the triangle taste test style. 2 of the same, and 1 is different. They do it at coffee taste testing events to make things less of a coin flip. Give it a go!

I'd also hide the bottles (put them in paper bags), I mean who hasn't tasted Jim before? You should 100% do a scotch version too! Fun vids!

There’s also a pretty large difference in the proofs of those bottles. I actually like using a higher proof bourbon like the 1920 in cocktails because their taste can stand up to the other ingredients in the mix. Cheers!

Great idea, but OF1920 is 120 proof and Jim Beam is 80 proof. Got to keep it a lot closer to be a fair comparison. Love your videos though 🤙🏼

You’re only comparing a $20 bottle to a $60 (1920) bottle. But the proof on 1920 is much higher

Old forester is my current favorite i just discovered it a few months ago i got the same bottle for $36 at a publix in Gainesville, Florida

Try Makgeoli! It’s different from what we have here in the states. Gotta find it at your local Asian, Korean market. All types of flavors. Peach, banana, yogurt, a cereal flavor. And you have to mix it well for the sediment

Great video but really hope you didn’t pay over $60 for that 1920. It sure is delicious and may be worth $100 to some but it’s readily available at $60 and I’ve never seen it priced higher

Thats what i like about jim beam. Its cheap but the taste is totally fine. Its a great "every day" whiskey that is economic without being a terrible drink.

I worked at a popular liquor store in Atlanta in 2008, and the owner, Mac, would be able to taste any whiskey and tell you the proof within 5.

Super interesting but not even close to anything more than 50/50 chance. You need to double blind the whiskey/tester/subject and do a series of tastings to get statistical validity. I hope you do this because it's a great idea for content!

It’s like comparing oranges, clementines, and tangerines. They all generally taste similar due to the fact that bourbon is the most highly regulated spirit. Hence why dude took a while to guess. And it didn’t even look like a confident guess. Also, with the proof being different, that should be the dead give away. Just basic bourbon things 🤷🏻‍♂️

I like this channel, but don’t like lying for clicks. OF1920 is a $60 bottle and has no secondary value to ever take it to $120. It’s a $60 v $20 bottle and 1920 is one of the best $60 bottles on the market.

Your Father has a much better "taste" when it comes to communicate with people. He said that Jim Beam is an "inexpensive" whisky which is true but it's not CHEAP! For most of hardworking people buying a bottle of Jim is going to be a decision of the week. Should I buy Jim Beam and sip it on ice, do drinks with it? If drinks than maybe some cheap (really cheap) whisky because other things are going to mask the gasoline taste... and if sipping than maybe something for 5 euro more? Maybe 10? But what if I'm going to want a cola bourbon later on or some old fashioned? Than maybe Jim Bemm? It's a little bit disrespectful to call it "cheap". I, for example, was working hard for years to be able to afford to buy Jim more often than maybe once a month or as "the better thing for the bigger occasion" like birthday. Now I can simply go and buy the whole crate like it was beer but I didn't forgett about my roots and don't disrespect people.
