When I learned the difference between burn and heat, it opened up a whole new world. Don’t hold yourself back from trying new and more pricier bottles. Don’t have to pay $100 but maybe another $20-$40 on top of what you already pay and you might find something really nice and a new favorite.

Drinking vodka room temperature?!? What? If you drink vodka, especially expensive one like Beluga, you HAVE to put it to the freezer for at least 2-3 hours to make it’s texture like a melted wax. It absolutely improves your drinking experience. It offends me as a Russian. My bear is very offended too

I've never had $100 vodka, but I've noticed the biggest difference is only how much it tastes like alcohol. More expensive vodka tastes smoother and more like water

Beluga Gold line frozen when I had it 5-7 years ago went down like water. No burn at all. Think the quality has gone downhill a bit.

Ironically the more expensive booze tastes less like booze than the cheap booze

I notice a big difference between bottom and middle shelf vodkas but diminishing returns kick in pretty quickly. My favorite is Luksusowa which is only like $15 for a 750. Neutral flavor great for mixing.

This is so weird, I mean it might be a good cheap vodka but I can clearly tell the difference in cheap and more pricey vodka in the taste alone. Now ofc there are bad expensive vodkas too but I have never had a cheap vodka that I can enjoy without mixers.

Which one goes down smoother. Simple as that.

Useless "test". Some vodkas do have a distinctive taste and smell but that doesn't mean anything in terms of quality. Since your dad already knows how to identify this particular brand, it's useless to try to test it against something totally different. You can find a cheap vodka that will be too close for him to call out if you actually cared about honest testing.

I think vodka can get bad if it's cheap enough. You should have tried the expensive vodka versus a Regular Vodka like Smirnoff or something. Basically what I'm saying is the differences you notice here might have been the cheap vodka tasting Basically what I'm saying is the difference is you notice here might have been the cheap vodka tasting Cheap instead of the expensive vodka tasting expensive.. I bet Smirnoff would be a lot closer.

ok, comparing rotgut vs top shelf is one thing, but now compare a $30 bottle to that $100 and i bet there is no difference at all.

I got an old bottle of vodka today as a gift and im trying to find more info on it. Its called Troika and its from Yugoslavia. I cant find a date on the bottle except for a red sticker that says gold medal in Llubljana 1976. The bottle has a white fuzzy "hat" on the cap (though its turned brown now) Google doesnt give me much except for one website thats selling the same bottle for 200 British pounds. Can anyone help me identify this? Im trying to decide wether I should keep this safe and hopefully increase its value or taste it.

IMHO the biggest difference in cheap vodka vs higher quality vodka is more in how you feel the day after rather than the taste.
