I've been using a TourBox Elite and Neo for the past few years in all of my photo and video editing work. Now there's a new "Lite" version that costs far less. How does it perform? Let's find out.

You've convinced me. Just ordered one from TourBox and looking forward to using it. There's more than enough buttons/combinations for me to remember! I think that it'll be really helpful when using the quick edit keys on Capture One with layers and no more looking for the buttons to change brush sizes. I'm sure there will be plenty of things I'll find useful.

As always you show up in the nick of time! I am about four weeks from starting to edit my huge documentary project and I was about to drop a boat load of cash on the Loupedeck. TourBox for FCPX is the cheaper and quite frankly more efficient solution to speed up my work flow, so thanks once again for showing me the light!!!

I've had my TourBox Lite for a few days now and really starting to enjoy using it. Works great with Capture One and Photoshop. The sub menus are handy when tweaking settings inserted of using sliders. Using it with Photoshop and a pad and stylus for dodging and burning is a dream using one dial to zoom in and out and another for brush size. You can customise it anyway you like and just a matter of getting that muscle memory. There's a HUD that can be put on screen while help is needed. I don't feel that it's over priced for what it is and glad that Todd demonstrated it.

I have an entry-level Wacom tablet attached with a USB cable. I ended up buying a longer cable so I could loop it from the back of my Mac Studio, behind my desk, then straight out to the tablet to avoid any cable clutter. I know you’re testing everything straight out of the box, but an inexpensive, short USB cable will fix the tangled cable issue here pretty easily. I’d prefer wireless, but the cable issue here wouldn’t be a dealbreaker for me. Great review!

Would you consider making a video tutorial on using TourBox with Capture One? Or Lightroom Classic, as that's what I'm using at home. It would be great if you could also share some of your presets.😜

Many years ago, I bought one of their TourBox devices, the cable version. At that time, its features were not as advanced as they are now, especially with the TourMenu feature they offer today. However, I still found it to be quite useful. My favorite function is using the C1 and C2 keys to browse through images and then using the dial to tag them. Previously, I also enjoyed using the directional keys to select tools. So if I got this Lite version, can i map all the tools to a TourMenu maybe?

Any chance of a tutorial on using TourBox with Capture One? Thinking of grabbing one.

Hi Todd: Thanks for creating and sharing this video. I currently use Loupedeck+, so I would be interested in knowing if your thought on Tour Box vs. Loupedeck+. Secondly, I have noticed the lovely wooden tray that your keyboard appears to be sitting in. What is the name of that item? Cheers, Keith (Canada)

Sounds like a great product. A bit huge. But simpler than my Loupedeck CT. I like the fact that there are fewer buttons and options, forcing me to simplify my workflow. Nevertheless, the Loupedeck CT is a real pleasure to use once I've simplified the functions and controls. An I use it essentially with Final Cut Pro where the working time is divided by 2, and Lightroom where I save only 25% of working time. Question for you Todd : Because this is a major problem with Loupedeck. How does the TourBox behave? How does it work in combination with a keyboard? Over the long term, I can say that LoupeDeck is a pain in the ass when used in combination with a non-QWERTY keyboard/system. For example, here in Switzerland we use a QWERTZ keyboard, in the three national languages: German, French and Italian. The loupdeck continually has compatibility conflicts, always trying to switch my keyboard and OS to American English (QWERTY). Some knobs accentuate this phenomenon and the Loupedeck shuts down if I switch back to QWERTZ keyboard. So the big question is. What about the TourBox? Do you have any ideas?

Todd, I've never used a device like this, but synergies seem to abound! How about substituting a shorter cable?

Does it make tweaking settings more accurate than using a mouse?

When are these companies going to realize that we need FULL SIZED connectors on their product. It looks like a nice gizmo, but way over priced. I would consider this a prototype before going into full production. Currently I am using a logitech trackball with four buttons. It does everything I want it to do, and it has a full sized USB connector. Small connectors break too easily and for those who want small connectors only shows that they don't know what they are talking about. Thanks for the review. I consider that you are trying to do the product in a positive, but honest light. So, good video to you; back to the drawing board for TourBox.

The reason the Elite gets dirty/greasy and stuff like he complained about is actually cuz of that rubber coating they put on these devices like Logitech does. I have Major issues with that coating. Feels great when it's new...but if you throw it in a drawer for a year or so cuz you got a new toy/device to play with and come back to later that coating has broken down and becomes unbearable to to h as it is so sticky and can't easily get it off either. You have to use 99% ISO to revome the coating and stickiness. I end up throwing it away! The lite's finish is much better for long term use.

I think the tourbox is better because it's designed not to be looked at--it keeps your eyes on the monitor while your hands end up familiarizing the differently shaped buttons and knobs. with the loupedeck, there's just so many things going on that you have to look away from the monitor and look at the device to know what you're doing which does take up time.

I just want it for photoshop. I'm still using my keyboard for commands which seems clumbsy when I reach over the digital drawing pad....plus my cat comes into the room and steps all over my keyboard when I work.
