Do you know anything about a plate for the mount for the adapter pole I was thinking using 3m adhesive the kit was $1599 and adapter was free yesterday out the door price good deal first trolling motor
I have the NK 180. Countless hours on it and it's a great motor. I don't have any experience with the 300 but I hear great things. I run my 180 with a 24v Lithium 40 Ah and it goes all day. I average about 8-12 miles a trip and have never run it close to dead battery. It's definitely an efficient unit and very quiet. I'm sure Newport knocked it out of the park with the 300 but from my experience anyone who goes from paddle/pedal to motor would be happy with the 180 if money is the determining factor. Nice review Aliex.
I’ve got an Old town 120 PDL and I can’t make up my mind on whether to go with the KK180 pro or the NK300. Feel like the 180 would work fine but that 300 is a beast.
my personal opinion here, the Old Town 120 PDL is a HUGE BOAT, it can take the NK300 no problem, if you don't mind the 40# from the 55ah 36v battery go for it! I hope you use my discount affiliate code Aliex180 at newportvessels.rfrl.co/3wj9y the Nk300 it is a better motor, 36v systems are better than 24, you pay with the wight though.
Aliex, I can vouch for your analysis concerning speed/range on the NK300. During my recent fishing trip on my 2016 Native Slayer Propel 13, a fairly heavy and heavily loaded 13'2" kayak, my top speed (unassisted by wind and current, as best I could tell) was in the 6.5 to 6.8 mph range. My round trip was about 4 miles with the majority of the time running the NK300 at 100% power. The battery (via BT) communicated a remaining level of 53% charge at the end of my trip. When checking speed vs power it appears that I can push my SP13 about 5.5 to 6.0 mph using only 70 to 80% power! I have kept my propel drive onboard the kayak to use for fishing, short moves, etc. I will remove the Native propel indexer to give me more cockpit room. Also, I am in the process of using the great closed loop polyethylene packing material (from Newport) to form a plug for the propel slot to see if it gives me a better bottom profile to reduce turbulence under the hull and increase speed! Long-winded, I know, but here is a great find from my recent trips. I removed my BooneDox aluminum rudder before installing the NK300 and went back to the original Native rudder because the BooneDox's length would have forced me to extend my motor out 2 or 3 inches beyond the stern (not good, IMO). Of course, the old Native rudder (from 2016) does not give great turning power (hence, we all bought the BooneDox)! I found that when I turn the unpowered NK300 steering while pedaling, the sizeable motor and skeg has incredible turning power - it appears to trump the BooneDox turning radius!!!
@@MarkChester1754 I chose to remove the boonedox rudder so that I could mount the NX300 tight to the end of the hull - put the old rudder back on. However, I found that the boonedox was no longer needed. When pedaling with the propel drive I could steer the kayak as good as the boonedox by using the NX300 steering. I rigged up separate steering and would not trust the built in Native cable to withstand the 3hp motor stresses. It turns out that the NX300 is about as deep in the water as the propel drive and gives great steering response when using the pedal drive.
Yeah but you can’t control the motor standing I am developing a stick steer with speed control and forward/reverse control attached to stick, wiring ran through center of stick and will sit on a hanger I made on side of seat so it is perfectly sitting off my right hip cost probably around motor $140 + battery 100 ah lithium $300 + wiring and box to house pwm $130=$570 total run about 3.2 mph at 70% power Nucanoe Unlimited never had a problem in two years running pwm I know they get a bad rap but they work for me quite well and it’s going to allow me to accomplish my stick steer control all in one
i bought the nk180 used your code Aliex.. but i bought 100ah 24v for 449.99 shipped with charger.. i have a hoodoo tempest 120p i think its gonna be great thanks for the reviews
@gabrielm.4554 lol that's true lol 😆 😂 I have a second channel that I'm only gonna do full length videos of kayaks like I'm gonna group 3-5 videos into one instead of having 10 vids out there, and this one will be more of a fishing channel
Aliex, knows these motors! For adding what motor combo, for your boat. I've upgraded my J2 Bixpy to the bigger PP-768. Works awesome with a PDL drive. But now I want my NK 300. I've already seen him test all these motors on my Oldtown 120 PDL. And myself at 5ft 7 156 lbs. I don't need to worry about coming close to the boat's max weight. Great discussion Aliex!! 💯 🌊 🛶
So you’ve seen the NK 300 on a PDL 120? If so, how did it handle at full power? Was it using the stock rudder to steer? I’ve been told the NK 300 would be to much motor for the 120, and the 180 would be better.
@@AliexFolgueira I believe Navarre kayak fishing makes a mounting plate. Not sure if you're familiar with his products. Didn't know if that's how you had it mounted. Thanks Aliex
hi alex...thanks for your great videos...:) because of you, yesterday, i've bought the nk300 because i found out about the rebate from you. and the battery, i've ordered it from aliexpress (direct from china) so i paid 809$ (can) for a 36v "120 ah" battery in a rugged case. i want to have all day power..:)....thanks again and merry christmas....lol
