We compare the three Newport Vessels NK motors; the NK180, NK180 PRO and the NK300. We compare them for top speed and use of power. Discount Code; TIM609 Newport NK180PRO: newportvessels... Newport NK300: newportvessels...
Is the Pro noticeably quieter than the 180 or 300? These Newport motors are nice for the price, but definitely noisy compared to a different manufacturer that my friend runs... Hoping the Pro has finally gotten quieter... Your thoughts?
Great video! I got the exact information I needed to make a decision. I will be buying the NK180 Pro because the top speed is good enough for me, and the ability to use it all day at non-top speeds works for me too.
THXs, that is a very conclusive Life Test. The NK300 > 5,2 MPH at 50% at only 460 W. Seems to be the clear winner. Well as conditions are unstable it´s really complicated to perform Life Tests. So how much margin of error would You estimate to give Your results ?
@@playden70 I fish the Detroit River and have no issue. The NK300 has a bigger prop and more torque, so it would be more powerful, but I haven't had any issues with the NK180 Pro
Hi Tim Great review. Just got the 180 from Amazon uk and waiting for two 12v 50ah renogy batteries. How do you guys monitor your batteries if you dont have bluetooth.
That is so interesting in between the 180 to the 180P. The throttle curve is really sharp. Still want the new one with the lower watt curve. Awesome video
@@TimPercyKayakFishing i heard they tired to make it more dial-able. I think the pro is a really great option and just wish I could get my hands on one. It will be some time before I upgrade.
All three are a fantastic upgrade to any kayak. I just put a nk180 on an outback as hours of trolling were wearing me out. Im hooked. The motorized kayak is such a sensible option to boat ownership that most people dont understand.
Would the nk300 with a 100ah battery keep you out all day? Really at a tough decision. I want the speed from the nk300 but would like to be out all day with no worries of running my battery dead
Great comparison! Good info! I think that the percentages on the controller were not comparable to the wattage draw on the Nk180 Pro (actually all 3). Wattage draw will determine ultimate longevity of run! I'm dealing with a Newport issue on my 6 month old battery. It's done that since I got it and Newport is slow to resolve an obvious issue. I think that the battery (36V) on my NK300 is not coming up to full charge and my motor dies after 3 to 4 miles of 100%, maybe a couple of more miles later if running at 80%. Can't get the fully charged battery voltage above 39.9 volts when I see others on videos at 41.5 volts. Any ideas anyone?
The original release of the 36V battery has a firmware issue. The Bluetooth module would consume more power than it should when not active.....sitting on the shelf. So if you don't use the battery for a few days it will be drained down....even if you top it up right after using it. I've gotten into the habit of putting it on the charger the night before I use it
The new controller is the same as the NK300. The controller for the NK180PRO is calibrated differently in that it gives you finer adjustability in the lower speeds
Hey Tim, question for you. Do you know if the nk180 pro propeller will fit the normal 180? I tried the apc propeller on my 180 and got 1mph faster but it was a left hand rotation. So I’m wondering if the bigger propeller will fit the old nk180? Thanks 🙏
