Don't forget that the Lexus LS 500 is also built in Japan. That right there should take care of the competitors! It will be around for a very long time, and hopefully exceeding 500,000 - 1+ million miles!! Built in Japan!
You said it, bud! I can only afford a Mazda 6 station wagon myself 😀, but man! I thought I knew what a reliable car was, but in reality, I certainly did not until I got me a Mazda! Designed in Japan and made in Japan!
For me not really, it has a literal bigger road presence and so much longer...which is my one gripe with it. The IS is too small but the LS is too big. And the ES gets little development "sport" wise.
@@marcusvision I believe there have been spy shots of an ES replacement under development with rumors it'll try to grab back some of the prior GS customers who prefer more performance. It'll probably still be FWD based with a rear electric motor for AWD though, like the new RX
@@marcusvision If you glance at it at first (If you didn’t know much about Lexus) you’d think that it’s just regular traffic honestly. In the other hand for someone who knows cars he’d instantly spot it from far away, different headlights, rear lights, length, grill and wheels.
10:10 Rear Wheel Steering is an option on the LS. There's a $5,000 Dynamic Handling Package on the RWD F-Sport model. It comes with rear wheel steering, 360 camera, and air suspension
I’ve looked at Benz S class, and BMW 7 series and for whatever reason the voice inside my head tela me “ No, no buddy ….. take the Lexus !” I’ll take the Lexus on a cross country road trip without thinking about it, not so on the Benz or BMW ( maybe if they’re brand spanking new) . As an owner of 3 BMWs I’m already immune to the cold start “ Check Engine” light anxiety attack.
Got a LS430/ultra luxury best Ls model ever made however in looks department the ls400 is just timeless especially when on bags with a nice set of 3 piece wheels and a rear trunk lip sheeeeshhh
The competition ran over this car years ago. Being cheaper isn’t enough. The original LS was cheaper and better. This LS500 isnt even close. They changed the traditional LS formula and now no one buys the LS.
This is true.. Honestly even the Koreans are wiping the floor with their g90.. the LS is lagging behind. Id rather get the cheaper fwd es if I'm going to just don't care about good driving dynamics
It's even worse than the lowest BMW 330 model, with no rear climate control? No one should buy this industry garbage. Just get a LC500 to drive and a big SUV for the family.
You know reviewers can recommend all they like but when you love something you love it. Whether it's the best or worst you love it. All the features that BMW and Merc are putting in their cars a guy like me won't even use about 80%. So I don't even need it. I like the approach that Rolls Bentley are pushing. Quiet smooth plush ride with a good sound system.. Not crazy gimmicky technology that makes me feel like I'm inside some crazy computer. I don't need all that
I still think that even if your budget is high enough to afford the Mercedes S class or BMW 7 series, the LS500 on the correct trim is the most sensible purchase as this definitely has lower chance of having reliability issues like the german cars, which will save you money and hold the car's value longer. And I also think this current design still looks more beautiful and unique than the German cars. Don't even get me started on the current 7 series. 🤮🤣
You really don't need the rear steering, that's just a meaningless gimic, and also don't need the soft door shut, those are expensive when they break. But, I agree that this F sport model is missing some basic amanities for a luxury sedan, like the 360 camera that matches or beats competitors because Lexus's 360 camera is a joke, and the read heated/ventilated seats, and other basic items should be standard for this price range. I think, these are the reasons why this LS doesn't sell well.
Rear axle steering on the S class ranges from 4.5 to 8 degrees and that makes a HUGE difference, it makes the car turn and handle like a much smaller vehicle. It also allows for you to steer into much smaller parking spots and make maneuvers reserved for smaller vehicles. In the Lexus I believe it is 2 degrees but that will still make a noticeable difference in handling.
@@drhassan6892 Not denying the difference, but rest assured it's not a big deal. If someone can't park a large sedan they shouldn't be driving one. The cost of repair to this system or the air suspensions are horrendous and not worth it at all. Remember when Honda came up with the 4-wheel steering in the 90s, no one made a big deal about it, so this is not something new and it's been proved to be costly.
The Ls430 is actually the best one, i have the ultra packaged and it's more comfortable than the Ls460 L to me,Don't know about any ones opinion. I regret trading in it for the 07 Ls460 L, that was very smoother than the current 13 model that i have. There's no comfort mode so the 07 to the 2012 model are more comfortable than the 13 ,don't know about the current models.
Getting one for my next daily I’ve had an rc350 for 3 years and it was an amazing car been daily driving my 2012 genesis sedan but she’s getting old although has treated me very well I’m just ready for something a bit newer
It looked to much like a Big Mercedes to me, but it's a tank virtually indestructible from what I've read. I own the 2nd generation LS it's a nice car.
Can you also test out to see if you can accidently lock the electronic keys within the car? Some cars come with that featurewhere theyll automatically unlock the doors if u accidently leave the keys in and lock the door like fca/stellantis vehicles with the smart key
@@mob4ever well unfortunately Toyota/Lexus do nothing exceptional. They do just enough to get by and that’s it. Their lineup is truly terrible. But if you don’t care about how a vehicle drives then a Lexus is great. It’s great knowing we have freedom of speech so I can share my opinion.
